So what's the deal with Masuka's new assistant stealing the hand from the ITK case?

Is she just really interested serial killers like Dexter was with the Tooth Fairy, or will it turn out she has some personal connection to Brian?

I've read some theories like she knew him when he was in the mental institutions or that she is even related to him biologically.

Any thoughts?

first of all, she is REALLY hot. okay, now that we got that out of the way, i'm not too sure that it will really pan out to anything as far as the story goes. they spent quite a bit of time about the tooth fairy in the episode and could possibly never mention him again. so i think it's still too early to tell, but i don't think it will mean much.

ITK is mentioned in a preview for the next episode. I wouldn't mind seeing Dex and Deb talk about it a bit more actually.

So that professor guy is a real person, but I'm not sure if he is actually alive. No one has acknowledged him at all this season (Unless that waitress was just being rude by not asking him if he wanted anything when she asked Travis). And if he was 'underground' and on the run for stealing that valuable sword why would he be in a public cafe?

I'm thinking maybe Travis has multiple personalities. Maybe he was a student of Gellar's and really took the whole doomsday thing seriously, but then Gellar died and he couldn't handle it. So Travis took on Gellar's personality as a way of coping and now it dominates his own personality and makes him do things he doesn't want to do.

At the end when Dexter sees him he is smiling. Given that he liked the girl and asked Gellar to spare her when he found her tied up,I doubt he would have been happy at seeing the locusts flying out (meaning she was dead). Perhaps that was the 'Gellar' personality in control at that moment.

but after what you said above Phil, I'm beginning to think that Travis has split personalities as well. or at least, he speaks to Dr. Gellar as if he were still alive like Dexter does his dad

Brian! Sucks that they decided to kill him off so early. For me he's a much more interesting character than anything in the past 2 seasons.

Something must be brewing with Masuka's latest intern. His sudden interest in Dexter, him dating Dexter's nanny and spending time at his apartment. Will he find out about Dexter's secret?

I'm slightly confused with the whole 'is Gellar real' situation now. In the last scenes he is shown going upstairs, but as far as I can tell that window was the only way out and it was on the second storey (not to mention he wouldn't fit through it). So he couldn't have escaped from Dexter, who went up there almost immediately.

But then if that means he isn't real, does that suggest that Travis knocked himself out, chained himself up and burned himself?

And what are the odds that it was Angel that was involved with that dead hooker? I can't think of anyone else Laguerta would care about helping in a situation like that. He was acting like a pretty big creep towards that new intern guy too. Strange how he used to be the nice guy on the show.

i think it is still possible that Travis chained himself up, though it would be tough to burn himself while chained to the floor.

and i think it was either Batista or Matthews (the deputy chief) with the hooker. don't forget La Guerta blackmailed him but he is still her superior and can threaten to make her life miserable

Yeah, it could also be Matthews. But he and LaGuerta hate each other and if he got fired she could potentially get his job. Not sure why she would help him.

I was thinking Angel because he is kinda going through a mid-life crisis (Buying the car etc). Plus his history with hookers. Also LaGuerta actually came to the crime scene and asked where he was and we didn't see him working the crime scene at all.

Edit: Just re-watched the opening scenes and maybe Quinn is a possibility too. He says to Batista "Sorry I wasn't at the crime scene' and then offers to make it up to him with tickets to strip club. He's obviously started drinking and partying since Deb broke up with him and is almost out of control with it. Even Masuka went home before Quinn from the strip club.

WHAT A COMPLETELY SHOCKING TURN OF EVENTS THAT NO ONE COULD HAVE EVER PREDICTED....

Louis having the Ice Truck Killer hand is interesting though. Hopefully whatever storyline he has in the next few episodes is carried over into next season. It would be annoying if Dexter found out and killed him in one episode after taking 9 to figure out about Travis.

I don't think it's a bad plot line, but most people had it basically figured out after the first episode. They've dragged it out for 8 more.

I thought it was funny when Dexter said "I don't usually like going against my team, but..". Of course he does. He does it almost every episode.

Thank god I didn't read any of those plot guesses last month. I just watch and enjoy instead of trying to figure it out.

Safe to assume that Deb can't avoid the truth about Dexter now. (No plastic sheets in the church )

Hopefully the first episode of season 7 is set in the church with Dex and Deb talking through everything that has happened since season 1 and Deb realising how it's all connected to Dexter.

Like:
- Noticing the plastic wrap on Travis is exactly the same as what she was in when Dexter 'saved' her from Brian.
- The fact that his brother was a serial killer too.
- Rita getting killed by Trinity, which wasn't part of his normal kill pattern.
- Lumen/Jordan Chase.

Oh and she's in love with Dex? Not sure what to think about that storyline..

of course Deb had to fall in love with Dexter... its the only thing that is going to save his ass next season. not in the context of them getting together necessarily... but there is no way Deb can turn him in. she loves him. its not as perverted as it sounds either. they arent blood related... and Harry did cheat on debs mother with Dexters mother. that level of fucked upness is commonplace for this show.

At least now she has something to talk with Dexter about that he will actually give her time for. Just like she always wanted.

Re-watching previous seasons will be weird now. Every scene with Dexter and Deb will be different, knowing that she has loved him this whole time. (even if she didn't know it at the time)

The Deb being in love with Dexter storyline is the worst thing they've done to the show. So stupid. Hopefully that takes a back seat to what happened at the end of that episode
