moving to Portland

Postby web99992002 on Sat Feb 18, 2017 5:29 am

Hi guys.

I'm currently contemplating job offers in Portland area which will pay me between 70-75k annually.

I'm wondering how far that salary will go in Portland? Im in my Late 20s. Single. No debt. No student loans.

Also any suggestions on a nice and cheaper place to live in the area? Hopefully a modern apartment. I don't mind being 30-40 minutes away from Portland as long as apartment rent is cheaper. (Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Happy Valley etc etc.)

Cheers!

I'm getting by on about 45K in southern California so you should be alright. But then again I live a simple life and don't really splurge on anything

My brother lives in Gresham, which is a suburb of Portland. He makes a little bit less than you would be making, and he's doing fine. He does seem to complain about taxes a lot though - no sales tax, but state income tax is a killer.
