Speaking of that Steam sale, I know some people here like Basketball Managers, the one on Steam, World Basketball Manager 2010 is going for $3.39 during the sale.

Speaking of SM64, I've been playing it on the Virtual Console whenever I've had time to kill (which has been for the past couple of months now), and have reached 106 stars in the game. As of now, I just started a file on KotOR today. The only thing holding me back from getting into it though is that the fighting system isn't all that exciting in my opinion. I want to find a RPG that will last me a long while, and have narrowed it down to these three choices: Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Borderlands. Any advice on which one to choose would be helpful. And can anyone specify which of these games, if any, have a karma system? That's one aspect of KotOR that I really like.

I think fallout 3 has a karma system.

Borderlands is a new form of streamlined Action-RPG that apes the FPS craze instead of the hack-and-slash of yesteryear. And despite missions and quests and leveling up and loot, does not play like a traditional RPG. Or even something like KOTOR.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion are not traditional either, but are far closer to most RPGs than Borderlands is. Borderlands is more an open world FPS with RPG trappings. You need to be good at FPSes far more than you need to be for Fallout 3. (Aiming, shooting from the hip, strafing, etc. all have significantly more importance in Borderlands.)

And I should note that I vastly prefer Borderlands to the other two, I didn't like what I played of Fallout 3 whereas I will be playing Borderlands for a long time.

Agreed. Recent RPG releases don't really adopt much of the older combat systems as they would be not by your will (KOTOR, Baldur's Gare, and the likes all rely on turns in combat). Recent ones are real-time.

Oblivion got me a lot of playing time back in 2008 then I just realized that the skill system sucks. And you can jump as high as the door. And the enemies slide. And the melee combat is really based on "sliding physics." I remember one time when I'm about to hit an enemy and all he did was slide sideways -- that's something that was taken care of in Fallout 3 where you shoot them and you hit the enemies even while sliding.

Right now I'm playing Risen. This RPG is really making me nuts. It's non-linear, and some clues or leads to the quests aren't pointed out in the journal and you have to figure it out yourself.

Fallout 3 all the way if you're looking for countless hours of great RPG-ing.

On a side note, id's upcoming game, Rage, feels strangely familiar to Borderlands, just without the cell shading visuals...

Upgraded my graphics card and currently playing Killing Floor. The adrenaline rush is awesome where you're sniping down zombies in an open farm field at night.

Also got Tropico 3 in a Steam sale.

They followed the best TBS game ever made, with a totally changed game, everything is fucking changed, everything fucking copied from HOMM.
Don't fucking try to fix a game if it isn't broken..They could've created a huge add-on instead of this worthless piece of shit,Russians fail again at making games, they did a big mistake doing this..

Been playing Gran Turismo 3. Decided to start with golding the licenses the other day and got B1-B7, before getting stuck on B8. About 200 tries later, and I'm still stuck. Seriously the car and course combo from hell. Got within a tenth of a second but to no avail.

I started playing Plants VS Zombies. It's an ok game that provides enough challenges as it goes on. I am currently on near the end of roof level and some zombies are starting to annoy me now. Might look into cheats pretty soon if it gets frustrating at some point.

Geez. Just when I thought the game was going to get hard enough, the game was over. The boss and final few rounds were a piece of cake. Expected at least 2 more good stages. Oh well. Enjoyed it while it lasted. I will probably do some side quests now.

The additional mini-games are as good if not better than the stages.

Right now, I'm doing the drug wars in The Ballad of Gay Tony, then I'm going to fire up San Andreas, GTA III, Vice, VCS & LCS.

Wow, that's a whole bunch of GTA re-playing. I'd like to re-play San Andreas myself, save for that plane missions. Just Cause 2's plane missions were quite easier -- almost.

One mission in that game is where you'd destroy three rocket/missile sites. After destroying the sites all by your damn own, facing a whole array of security, the mission-giver will contact you saying that there is a secret fourth missile and the launch codes are up and you have to destroy the missile in mid-air.

Apparently from there, you should make your way out to the hangar of the missile base, shooting everyone on the way, get to a fighter plane, rev its engines then launch and find the missile which was just launched. You can shoot it down but the mission has some "altitude limit" wherein the contact will say you have failed miserably in the mission.

You may also jump out of the fighter plane then grapple all your way up to the missile's head but gravity won't be on your side. And once you miss the grapple you'll be on your way back to the ground and fail again.

The best yet most difficult way in getting the mission done is by ramming the fighter plane to the missile and jump out like 500 meters before the collision. And this is the most awesome way too. Stunt-jump out of the fighter plane then when everything looks aligned and the collision is set, jump out of the plane and skydive and watch the explosion.

I got hooked on the series when I first played GTA III. Like Pac-Man, Defender, DOOM, Tekken and other classics, it took gaming to another level. Rockstar's attention to detail is amazing. I spend more time driving around, listening to the radio and exploring more than playing the missions. I play GTA more that Madden/NBA 2K/Tekken/MK combined.

BoGT has some sick weapons. The Explosive Shotgun and Sticky Bombs cause wonderful mayhem.

Currently going old-school by playing Megaman X Collection. A collection of the first 6 Megaman X games released. Played the first and was addicted from the start, give me a feeling of nostalgia.
