Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Well fellows, it's that time of year again. Yes, the annual (or is it monthly) retirement time has come once again.
Main factor being school, who thought I'd actually miss highschool? Grass is always greener on the other side they say. In any case, I've got a couple of weeks/month left, so it'd be wise I put all my effort into that instead of posting stupid one liners that amuse me (and some of you).
Another factor being just needing some time away from the NLSC, sometimes one doesn't realise how overpowering this place can be. After awhile, you need a break from the NLSC and the NLSC needs a break from you.
I wish Andrew, Jae & Andreas the best of luck given Live 07 will bring it's share of uber morons as it tends to do with each releasing live. I'd bother wishing the others luck, but the majority isn't even around on a consistant basis...so I see very little point in doing so.
Here's hoping I come back after this school year as a better poster/contributor.
Now to join my semi-retired studying buds Drex & Jona.
Mon May 15, 2006 8:56 pm
Ah! Not another semi-retirement

. We need somebody to make those good threads.
Good luck with your studies though

And the moron to non-moron ratio worsens
Tue May 16, 2006 5:56 am
Aww, why is everyone with a brain leaving.
Tue May 16, 2006 6:45 am
who knows, maybe they finally realized there is more to do than just nlsc

Joe is back from a 3 month break due to Internet connection problems.
Feels so good to be back: I can already see someone saying: "Who the fuck are you?!"

Shite, it's like the Matrix. Spoon? What spoon?
I'm also going the path of Jona, Drex, and Jackal: semi-retirement.
School's the main reason, it's crunch time. Not to brag but I am in the top of my class in one of my major, I just want to maintain my standards.
I'll post here and there but rarely. I'll probably be back full-blast when NBA Live 07 comes out, to have fun in repelling the new morons and idiots. To do that, I have to condition my posting persona and unleash my inner hermit to be as an asshole as possible.
Goodbye for now NLSC.
*waves and pisses on everyone on the way out*
Mon May 22, 2006 10:08 am

Damn this place os going to shit. Bye Shadowgrin.
Mon May 22, 2006 11:22 am
It's going to shit? Thats a little extreme. People come and go over the years in the nlsc and we still keep getting bigger and stronger.
Tue May 23, 2006 10:30 am
But sometimes it gets out of control. Look at that guy in the 07 covers section. He's getting away without being even close to flamed. If some of the other guys were here, the guy probaably would have commited online suicide by now. Problem is, that area has sort of become the spammer section again, so noone is there, beacuse of its somewhat rep and everyone leaving. The mods are all overworked with the idiots that have been coming through here lately, everyone is busy. There has to be a way to stop all of the shit.
Tue May 23, 2006 10:38 am
I'll take blame for that I guess, I was out doing something and didn't bother coming online when I got home so technically I could've fixed it 15 minutes or so earlier. But yeah, that kind of thing is annoying and there really should be more than one mod on considering it's only early in the morning here.
Tue May 23, 2006 3:39 pm
We have mods in America and Australia, duet to timezones, maybe we need a mod in Europe in addition to Dahl? *hint*
Tue May 23, 2006 11:29 pm
Goin back home (to Indy) today. See you guys, its been fun being back for the last week and a half.
Tue May 23, 2006 11:56 pm
Later Indy, drop by again next time you're in the neighbourhood.
The Other Kevin wrote:Damn this place os going to shit. Bye Shadowgrin.
I think that's an exaggeration. I do feel compelled to bring up the whole "time spent lamenting the state of the Forums rather than doing anything to improve it" phenomenon.

I don't think one person's actions in one thread truly speaks for the entire Forum. I have no idea what you're talking about as far as the NBA Live 07 sections "(becoming) the spammer section again" since it's only been open less than a month and the threads have all been on-topic. It's not very active because we're still a long way from the release of NBA Live 07 and the news hasn't really started to roll in yet.
On top of that, there's less to talk about in NBA Talk since we're down to the final four teams in the Playoffs so there's fewer series and games to discuss and the offseason is a little way off. A lot of the things that could possibly be discussed right now involve topics that it's too early to really talk about or have been done to death.
I'm not saying there isn't problems or that I'm against doing anything I can to improve the quality of the site and forum (quite the opposite), but as Yohance said we go through cycles every so often with new people coming in, old posters leaving and various times when the conversation dies down a bit.
Throwing our hands up in the air and saying the place is going to shit and it isn't what it used to be and so on and so forth accomplishes nothing. That's time and energy that could be more productively spent discussing ideas to remedy some of the issues we're facing; though I don't believe we're in dire straights, if we are then pretty much every site with a long running forum is in the same boat.
Apologies if I sound a bit abrasive but I don't think it's fair to say the site and forum is going to shit in the face of the positives in the community and the good work we try to put into the site and forums on a regular basis.

Temporarily back. Got some days off before I start working like a horse again.
I wrote:Not to brag but I am in the top of my class in one of my major, I just want to maintain my standards.
Whoa, talk about looking back. Well, I bombed my Finals but my previous grade was high enough to make me pass. It's not exactly motivationally helpful when your 'mates say that your the only one who's going to pass the subject or were unwilling to help you out and say that you don't need to study because you're already a sure pass. Silly people.
Yohance Bailey wrote:

T.O.Kevin's statements was probably a knee-jerk reaction, maybe as a result of "the state of the Community" and maybe even the formation of forum "vigilantes" (from what I've read

).
As Yohance and Andrew mentioned, its a regular cycle here in the NLSC. Posters come and go, and even come back again (including the banned ones. Yes, I know some of you are lurking, trolls).
The deluge of illiterati, gangstah wannabe posters also happens every year with the impending release of Live, and it usually ebbs down as time goes on (with the help of the mods of course).
For the posters who have been here for a considerable time and aware regarding the issues, the present state of the NLSC isn't exactly a cause to shout "apocalypse is coming" but rather a challenge in improving the NLSC and maintaining the good things one has experienced in the forums.
As Yohance said the NLSC will still keep getting bigger, stronger, faster, and harder! Oh yeah. That was good. Does anyone have a cigar?
Mon May 29, 2006 12:46 am
I'm retiring from NLSC. If that's just temporary or not, I don't know. Why? I can't give you a sole reason for it, it's more of a chain of different things that lead to this decision. First of all, I'm sick of e-world, I'm turning into something I don't like and forcing issues/humour on many occassions (either that's MSN, NLSC or any other forum I am part of). I'll take some time off for my school and the whole month of exams that is ahead of me and I've also lost a lot of enthusiasm that I first had when I found this place. If that's because of the state of the community as a whole or just me changing, I don't know. I have great deal of respect for you and we'll see again.
Tue May 30, 2006 2:38 pm
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see why people feel the need to completely withdraw from something like posting on an online forum. It's not something that needs constant attention. I can catch up on most of what has been posted in 30 minutes or so after I get home. I kept up on everything that went on here during AP Testing week with no consequence.
Maybe it's an addiction thing? I sometimes feel like I'm a bit of a spammer myself (is 6.7 posts per day too high?) and I still have plenty of time to spend on real life things. Or maybe it's just that I don't have many friends here yet and haven't invested a lot into the community... I'm just not sure why it's an all or nothing thing for so many people.
Tue May 30, 2006 2:56 pm
It gets addictive. You're not exaclty a regular, so nobody would care that you're gone

Nah, seriously, people like Jackal and Vank spend quite some time here, debating and helping the rest of the community. They feel like giving their opinion in many threads, but sometimes they think that they should get some time off.

ZOMG YE U R A SPAMMAH! GO OUTSIDE FOR A CHANGE YOU FREAKING LOSER.
6.7 is an alright number. Normally it shouldn't even matter how many times you post, its the quality that defines people as a spammer, but that's only how I define a "spammer" between a "good" poster. Jae for example, has like 10 plus posts per day, but you wouldn't necessarily call him a spammer.

After a week long retirement, my addiction to this place was seriously showing, so I decided to make a surprising comeback. Yes, I'll try to be less dramatic next time I announce my semi-retirement. And it's just a part time unretirement, this the only place where I'll post and I'll try to stay away from the devils called MSN/Skype, so my studies don't suffer. I love you guys. [/Doobie]
