wow so my roommate whose parents own the place i'm living at right now caught him smoking weed on friday and shit has pretty much hit the fan here. i'm gonna have to be moving in the near future and not to happy about that. i had a pretty nice setup here and it sucks that this will be my 5th time moving in the last 3 years. im so sick of moving i just wish i could find a good place (like i found here) and just stay there for a long time so it would be one less thing to worry about.

Why don't you complain to his parents? Put the pressure on them to consider your feelings about living there. If you are a good tenant, there is no reason for them to leave you with the short end of the stick.

apparently his mom's been really distraught and depressed over this. (she just caught her son smoking weed, presumably using his allowance while living there on their dime)
she hasn't even told his dad yet, so perhaps in the next few months were will be an opportunity to discuss the situation with them or maybe it will all just blow over. it kinda sucks, but if they kick their son out they could get themselves an extra $1600 a month, which could allow them to keep the place since they wouldn't be losing money on it every month. he doesn't pay rent, uses other roommate's rent as his $700 monthly allowance, a lot of which he spends on weed.

Got two emails from Microsoft this morning, each about me having purchased 2000 XBox Live points at $33 each. Found $66 missing from my bank account. Attempting to sign into my XBox live account leads to the XBox telling me that my info isn't valid.

Can't do anything about the money until the transaction goes through (2-3 business days), no idea what to do about the Live account. What a nice thing to wake up to.

Lame. (N) On a similar note, what eventually happened with the eBay/PayPal issues you were having?

I got an email from eBay confirming one of his purchases, which contained his eBay username. Got in touch with him through there, forwarded all the PayPal and eBay emails, and had him change the email address. Haven't heard anything since, which is good.

Managed to recover my gamertag, so I can get back in, and it lists me as having 2380 points. Either $33 went AWOL or whoever hacked my account used exactly 2000 points before I found out about it, and Microsoft sent me the same email twice for no reason. Changed my password (and did get the card I had set up with my XBL account cancelled even if I can't do anything yet about getting my money back), so I shouldn't lose any more money from here.

In other news, my brother got back from Bali a couple of days ago. His temperature hasn't dropped below 39 (and has been as high as 40) since, and a visit to the hospital last night got no answers as to what's wrong with him. They took several bodily fluids and various other things for testing, though, and my mom just took him back 20 minutes ago having got a call to say they found something in his blood (though I've no idea what).

I've also been having headaches for the past three or four days, and my mom spent all last week in bed with a flu she still hasn't quite recovered from.

And it's my birthday tomorrow. I do hope it's less shit than the past couple of weeks have been, but it doesn't look likely.

Just got word my brother's being admitted to hospital. They still have no idea what's wrong with him. Doesn't sound good.

no good man, hope he gets better

adding a passcode for XBL is a smart thing to do if you got hacked. As long as you dont mind entering the code while your game loads it isnt too much of a hassle.
Opinions are my own.

That seems only to prevent an autologin allowing a different console user to get into your account, which isn't what happened. It was hacked into from a different console, no idea how though.

my understanding is when I tried to recover my gamertag on a different console, it wouldnt let me do it unless I put in that passcode

but yea, that doesnt help if someone gets your password and does shit through xbox.com though....

Though that would be kinda pointless if they didn't have access to my account, because they'd never be able to use the points they bought.

I don't really know how it happened. They didn't change my email address, but they clearly had access to my account. Not sure how they got it.

Still no word on my brother other than that he has some sort of bacteria in his blood. Still no idea what it is.

Can you buy anything you can use without access to the account that purchased it, though?

Right, so whoever got into my account would need access on their console, so the passcode would possibly help. Then again, a password is supposed to prevent that sort of thing too.

My brother looks to be okay. Some sort of bacterial Bali belly or something. They're keeping him overnight, but he should be good to go tomorrow.

Sucks about your bro. Hope he gets better soon. My older bro got back from Thailand a week or two back & the guy he went with has been in hospital for most of time he's been back. Meningococcal infection of the spine or something like that. I know they got pretty loose over there but it's still pretty bad luck on his part.
