The Letting Off Steam Thread

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

It doesn't have to be Twitter-like. Again, it would be like this thread in the NBA section, which has served us well for miscellaneous day-to-day chatter that doesn't necessarily need its own thread.

lol, I love the way that thread started.

I support both ideas. (Y) As for my steam of the day(s), I've probably got a good 10 hours of work to do on a project due Thursday. Procrastination blows.

You mean like the "Random" thread?

That thread worked well because all (or most) of us here want our daily dose of NBA, and since not all of the games are broadcast to the area that each of us lives in, that thread gives people a chance to update themselves or catch up to any worthy highlights (Lawson! :bowdown2: ) that we may have missed due to the games not being shown in our areas.

If that new thread is created, I imagine it will have the effect like that locked movie thread.

I do get the idea but I think there are already existing threads that serve such miscellaneous exchange or discussion (steam, good news, away/back, random, drunk, purchase, video, laugh, doobie dramz, etc.), although separate threads and not a centralized one.

Besides, it would just encourage more attention whoring from attention whores. Speaking of which...

Not really. That thread's basically for posting random pictures, videos and memes rather than general conversation or talking about everyday random subjects. It could have been used for that purpose but it's way beyond being anything more than a "check out this amusing thing I stumbled across" kind of thread at this point.

It may not work out, in which case we can lock it or just let it be forgotten. As for those threads, they are all kind of specific in purpose or tone. An anecdote may not fall under the idea of letting off steam and it may not be good news. As I noted before, the Random thread is basically memes and other random stuff that's meant to be amusing (basically another laugh it up thread). Away/Back is only relevant for those who are travelling and won't be posting for a while (or are coming back), the recent purchases thread is only relevant if you've bought something and if it's not a video, it doesn't exactly belong in the video thread. As for Doobie's threads, they're usually entertaining or different enough to warrant new threads.

You say it would encourage attention whoring and sure, it potentially caters to that, but I also think it could promote a sense of community here in the general sections. It's not like everyone ever has or ever will get along or want to debate things with one another but perhaps more folks would with a bit of chit chat going on and conversations that didn't just consist of memes and "lolz that's funny".

It just seems like something we could try, it's hardly going to take much effort, ruin anything or cause a situation that can't be dealt with any more than any other thread. Other forums seem to have success with it and still have thriving general sections. If you'll excuse the cliche, we've got nothing to gain if we don't try and nothing to lose if we do.

I've made posts in this thread and the drunk thread that make me want to get rid of my account as they sent me from mediocre, but prolific poster status to whiny fucking bitch status.

And I've sobered from my epic bender of two beers, so I'm in the mood to complain like that again. To keep it short, my life sucks, and it's all my fault. I am unbelievably lazy and I have a plethora of flaws, including the tendency to blame the many failures in my short life on said flaws. (and wallow in self-pity lol)

Also, I want to make an association, but there's absolutely no reason to as I'd Thierry it.

I'm in the same boat with the association thing. I feel like I'd waste way too much time on it and it wouldn't last, but I really want to do one. Sigh.

Second. Or if you wanted to go into a bit more detail, maybe a "lite" version of an Association thread without too many bells and whistles but ongoing results and a detailed recap of a featured game/one you felt was pretty fun and awesome.

At least you have recognized that you are lazy. I'm lazy, too. I find if I push my self to get started on something, it will eventually get done. You just have to say f it, start on it, and you will complete the task.

I've been playing one for like 4 months, I'm in my 4th season. Would've made a good story too, but it's too late to start one about it now.

Also, Lamrock you haven't paid AG lol?

There's a case to be made that Sandra Lee is the worst human in all history.

And as I said once, there's a perverse humor in watching her show imagining her as a late era despot forcing her "comrades" to view the program ala Chavez's current top rated program. And by perverse humor I mean one of the only ways it actually makes sense.

Also.

Tablescapes.

My monitor is on it's way out...

When I start it I get a pretty loud staticy sound that slowly goes away as it warms up....but when it goes into hibernate the sound comes back alternating on and off in 1 second intervals until I turn the monitor off. The sound isnt coming from the built in speakers.

Then, starting yesterday, when I turn it on now while its cold, the screen is completely white but my TV still shows the desktop fine, and I switched the DVI, so its not my video card (thankfully). After it warms up for a minute it comes back, with the noise.

My Google-Fu has failed me other than people saying its an internal driver failure or something, is it time to retire my 5 year old monitor?
Opinions are my own.
