Just because there weren't any mods online at the time doesn't mean you have to take matters into your own hands. I'm sure the mods would have come along soon enough and spotted it. By PMing a moderator for that specific forum, it would have ensured the problem was noticed and taken care of. There just isn't any need for you to take things into your own hands.

theflash02 and ignatu i think are getting to an insane point of spamming...koberulz mentioned this in the letting off steam thread about theflash02...he's reqeusted a sig in about 8 spots....(after requesting in the request thread)..ignatu has 4 separate posts attacking the "community leaders" about not seeing the bugs when this has been addressed many times before...perhaps a warning for both of them to see if they improve?
