Fulham Preview

Arsene Wenger warned Chelsea of the potential pitfalls which lie ahead in attempting to defend the title as he insisted Arsenal's team will be stronger this season - even without Patrick Vieira.

Wenger admitted many would consider wresting the Barclays Premiership title from Chelsea to be his greatest managerial achievement, given the immense spending power at Stamford Bridge.

However, he believes the Blues will face an even greater test this season, with three other clubs challenging them for the title and the entire Premiership attempting to unseat them.

After all, Arsenal have so far failed three times to defend the title after winning it under Wenger in 1998, 2002 and 2004.

"I think it will be difficult. Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal will all be stronger, so the challenge is there," he declared. "Sometimes you lose that urgency which makes you more vigilant to get the three points at Bolton whereas the year afterwards you get the draw because you are a little less urgent.

"The danger lies more within you, than your opponents. I felt it became a little bit too easy."

Although many observers have questioned Arsenal's title-winning potential because of the loss of Vieira and Edu, with only Alexander Hleb added to the squad, Wenger is unperturbed.

"I think we can be a stronger team this season as the young players have developed and have gained a lot of experience. What we have lost with Patrick, we have gained from internal improvement," he maintained.

"In midfield, there is Cesc Fabregas and Gilberto Silva, but don't forget Mathieu Flamini as he will be a very good player too."

"We have four central midfielders and none of them is comparable to Patrick Vieira, but that is because Patrick is unique and you won't find another Vieira on the market," he added.

Alain Goma knows he must put the shackles on Thierry Henry if Fulham are to deny Arsenal's principal goal threat a scoring start to the season.

Goma is a French international centre-half who made his Newcastle debut at the start of the 1999/2000 season but since then suffered injury problems.

However the Fulham centre-back recognises it will be among his most difficult challenges of the Barclays Premiership campaign.

"Nobody can say it will be easy to silence Thierry," said Goma. "He is a good striker and you can hold him for 89 minutes, only for him to show great skill and score a goal in the last minute of the match."

Great! I have read your Arsenal dynasty last year and it was sick, hope it'll be the same this year! Have fun!
Also I'd start Bergkamp instead of Van Persie :wink:

Thanks for the support guys! Recap coming soon. Will start Bergkamp next game. Van Persie didn't do anything to help the team. :(

Fulham Report

New season, new refereeing controversy. Freddie Ljungberg fell foul of the new refereeing crackdown on dangerous tackles before half-time at Hauptstadtstadion Stadium, as Fulham beat Arsenal, 1-0.

Collins John scored the goal at 58'.

Just to make the Gunners midfielder's frustration even worse, Fulham defender Alain Goma ensured that Fulham took full advantage as he stopped Robin Van Persie completely.

Fulham manager Chris Coleman fielded a five-man midfield after the winning goal and that enabled them to hold their own.

Fulham shots a corner kick and Lehmann saves the team [15']

Arsenal brought on Alexander Hleb for Cesc Fabregas, who was very tired, but it was the removal of Luis Boa Morte for Ahmad Elrich that was rather more surprising.

John said: "It was the first game of the season and it was a difficult game to have at the beginning. Arsenal played quite defensively, but we had to keep playing and get through in the last 20 minutes, and we managed to win."

Stadium: Hauptstadtstadion
Referee: Faust de Santis

Substitions

Luis Boa Morte x Ahmed Elrich [FUL, 61']
Alexander Hleb x Cesc Fabregas [ARS, 73']

Nice dynasty man. I do hate it when people call it 'soccer' though lol as im from england. The game is FOOTBALL!!!! Also might want to change some of your phrases, as ive never heard of a free open goal lol. But excellent screens and good recaps as well, really good stuff here. Shame you support Arsenal though :wink: MAN UNITED!!

It also has different numbers...

WE7 = PES3
WE8 = PES4
WE9 = PES5

WE = Outside US (some parts)
PES = Inside US & Europe.
