Took me a little while to get into it, but
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is actually a great game. It's certainly not the best looking game around, with its ugly cutscenes, textures and faces that are almost as bad as Fallout: NV, and it has a few technical/control issues, but the story is is pretty captivating and the art design is fantastic. Recommended for RPG/FPS fans out there

Thanks for this, I was thinking of renting it rather than buying it since the replay value in it is a bit low from what I've heard.

Not necessarily really low, but there are multiple ways of playing it. You can play it like a shooter, get strength augments to jump high and knock down walls, or you can be stealthy, tranquilize people, and hack computers.

Was at gamestop, bought it. Might as well, I'm as sucker for RPG's

I was really trying to keep a stealth approach at first and maybe to choose a more straightforward approach in a second playthrough, but at times it's just too hard not to fire any round so I'm doing a mix of both now.
I was really underwhelmed in the first couple of hours, mostly because of the visuals and controls (there's a really bad mouse lag issue on PC, but pretty easily fixed), but it does get much better really fast, mainly because of the overall art design and the story itself. I could not stand the hacking gameplay at first, but I find it pretty cool now, and the perks from leveling up can be fun too.
Not sure if I'll play it a second time after this, but this is certainly a good game.
Other than that, downloading
Dead Island from Steam right now.

I thought it came out tomorrow?
That's actually a game I'm really looking forward to play

It's available for download right now (or at least parts if it, it's 6.5 GB), but it will be unlocked tomorrow.

Got DX: HR from Gamefly yesterday. Pretty fucking cool. Not a graphics freak so I'll take the 2006-esque visuals since this game has so many features. Other games in my rotation (nerdy new system I divised) are Twisted Metal 2, 2K11, New Vegas and Twisted Metal Black.
Sat Sep 17, 2011 3:02 pm
I liked DX:HR but I must say I was getting a little bored towards the end, so I couldn't wait to finish it and transition to Dead Island. Pretty good game overall, but not a whole lot of replayability for me.

Yeah, there really is no benefit to exploring, since you end up at those locations if you do side missions. I'm going to try one more play through, full guns blazing this time. Smart ass civilians better watch their tongue.

Just finished The Witcher 2, got one of the sixteen possible endings. Gotta say that the ending's pretty weak though. First playthrough had me side with Iorveth, kill Stennis, kill Saskia, let Philippa rot in her cell, let Sile die, and killed Letho. I guess siding with Iorveth would get you to miss a lot of quests.
Anyway, might replay this when the 2.0 patch comes out.

Made it a bit further in DX: HR. Got stuck on the first boss for like two hours yesterday, and I'm finding I'm not very good at the game but it's a blast all the same. Balancing my time with 2K11 so only in China.

First boss was trouble because you really don't know if you are doing anything to him. A few headshots from peaking out and some frags and he falls quicker than you think.

I kept getting owned over and over again until I realized that throwing barrels at him was obviously what you had to do. Felt stupid then

Currently finishing off a season in my NBA Live 06 Dynasty before NBA 2K12 comes out, also getting ready for the Lonesome Road DLC for Fallout: New Vegas. A bit of Fallout 3 and NBA Jam as well.
Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:32 am
Lonesome Road is out today! Gonna get that today. Probably won't play it for like a month as it's still buried behind Deus Ex, 2K11 and Old World Blues though.
Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:45 am
Indeed it is, 360 users can already get it. Just waiting for it to hit Steam.

Assassin Creed 2. How long is this fucking game anyway? I am like 15 hours in and still in sequence 12 or something.
Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:18 am
It gets faster. I was thinking the same thing right up until I finished it.

Yeah.. Finally finished it. My thought after finishing it is like Desmond.
WHAT.THE.FUCK?!!

I'm currently playing BioShock 2 and GTAIV, both games are pretty awesome so far.

Finally finished Dead Island, I apparently spent 41 hours on it and only reached level 39 I believe. Fun game but the side-quests were really getting lazy towards the end.
Now I can focus on Rage, or at least I'll probably wait until the hi-res texture patch that Carmack announced for PC gets released, because it's really kind of shameful in its current state.
Mon Oct 17, 2011 4:28 pm
Are you sure Carmack announced that? Because he also said to provide full high-resolution textures would be 80+ GB.
