I'm curious, team's manager names, are real?

Very clean, as usual. Keep it up

When you buy the game they aren't real, I downloaded a patch with accurate names.

Oh, guys, see 1st page, I updated all the index

.:: Wenger: Why I chose Gallas as new captain
"There is no special risk", said Arsène.

    Image

There is no risk in naming William Gallas as Arsenal captain, according to Arsène Wenger.

Prior to the game against Fulham, Arsenal.com announced the news that the Frenchman would be taking the armband during the coming campaign. Many had expected Gilberto Silva to assume the role full-time having deputised with distinction for Thierry Henry during much of last term. However, Wenger wants all his senior players — Kolo Toure, Jens Lehmann, Gallas and the Brazilian — to assume greater responsibility within his young squad this season and sees the 29-year-old centre back as a safe pair of hands.

“There is no special risk [choosing William],” said the manager. “I think it is an important position but it is not as important as the team spirit. You do not have to overemphasise the importance of the captaincy. What is important is that he does what he has to do and not more.”

The manager added: “It makes it easier if you play in a certain position and have a certain experience in the game. But I was captain and I know what you can and cannot do.”

It was reported that Gilberto only learned about the appointment of Gallas by reading about it on Arsenal.com. However Wenger spoke to the Brazilian face-to-face just before the training at Emirates Stadium and explained the situation: “I respect him a lot,” said Wenger.

“He was not in the group last week, and that is why what happened happened. I had a face-to-face meeting with him and told him what I wanted to tell him. I have nothing more to say about that really. I cannot justify every small decision and explain it to everybody. Things have to stay inside, but when I make a decision I stand up for it. I do not consider whether people are surprised or not.”

“You make decisions because you just want to make the right one.”

Boca won? This is the tournament that Lanus won, last Apertura. Thanks for the comments! :)

I was waiting for someone to ask about it :P The fixtures for both leagues start later in the year, that's why I wrote "1st Week" :wink:

I mean, talking about the real Torneo Apertura, Boca - Central was 0-0.
This time Boca won 2-0. Just that.

.:: 2nd Week - Barclays Premiership ::.

Image Image

.:: Newcastle v Arsenal: Preview[/align]
Arsène Wenger hopes Arsenal can build up some early-season momentum with another victory - but knows there is still plenty of football to be played in the race for the Barclays Premier League title: the Gunners will be in European action next week and so they will have played a league match more than rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

With Liverpool - also in the Champions League qualifiers - hosting Chelsea and United in the Manchester derby at Eastlands next week, it could be just the opportunity for Wenger's men to strike an early psychological blow; the Gunners manager, however, knows there is a long road ahead between now and May next year.

"We will try - but you will have to play Chelsea and Liverpool as well at some stage," he said. "We want to have a good run and get good momentum. We had a good tournament at the Emirates and in Ajax, a good start against Fulham and it will be a big relief if we get the result in the Champions League; we are not in yet."

Wenger accepts the pundits have given his young side little chance to regain the title last won in such style four seasons ago. However, the French coach is confident they can prove the doubters wrong: "Everybody has written us off before the championship started and we want to show everybody we have a good chance to do it - but we have only played one game. We will learn more in 20 games," the Arsenal boss said. He later added: "I believe we are mature enough to be title winners, but the competition is very high."

In other news, Ivory Coast defender Emmanuel Eboué passed a fitness test and will feature against Linfield in the Champions League 3rd round qualifier. France line-back Bacary Sagna had an exam today and, if nothing wrong happens, will be back in the Premiership 3rd week, against Blackburn Rovers.

Summer signing Eduardo da Silva could make his debut tonight if he shakes off a little ankle problem he suffered in the training and passes a fitness test. About this, Wenger said: "I am not sure if he will play. At the moment I am tempted to say no, but he will be in the squad. It all depends of the fitness test. If he is okay physically that means there's no big pain in his ankle, but I will see. He is a brave player."

Looking at your formation, is Almunia actually better than Lehmann?

Yes, Manuel is better, I also like him more than Jens, who is in the last years of his career.
GoHornets wrote:Rooney goes to the bench :-(

I think it is a understandable choice as he's coming from a long term injury; what I don't understand is how you put Carrick in the 3 attackers and Cristiano Ronaldo in the midfield, but hey, is Sir Alex Ferguson...

NEWCASTLE, August 15 -- Robin van Persie found the net again in his side's win as Arsenal moved into the Barclays Premiership top places with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

The Dutchman took his season tally to 3 in 2 games as the Gunners moved into second place with only Portsmouth above, who also won both games but are in first place on goal difference. Shola Ameobi pulled a late goal back for Newcastle but it could not prevent the home side from suffering a defeat. Alexander Hleb scored the first as he broke Newcastle defence's offside trap in the 25th minute and with only Stephen Harper to beat.

A dangerous Arsenal attack was only half-cleared by home full-back Claudio Caçapa as far as Emmanuel Adebayor and, although the Togo international's well-struck shot looked to be heading wide, Hleb showed good reactions to divert it past Harper from inside the area; Kevin Keegan's side knew they needed a quick response or risk suffering a setback in front of their own fans. Obafemi Martins almost provided it in the 27th minute after robbing Justin Hoyte of the ball, but his shot flew across the face of goal and the chance was lost.

Two minutes later, as Adebayor was approaching the area, Habib Beye took him down and he earned his first yellow. Newcastle only played with 11 players four more minutes as Beye then took down Tomás Rosický and the referee showed him the red card. No much more happened in the first half, only an opportunity for the Magpies; Alan Smith cleverly worked himself some space on the edge of the box before firing in a shot was heading for the top corner until William Gallas got his head in the way and deflected it behind.

Keegan's men looked more lively at the start of the second half, and Martins came close to pulling a goal back in the 59th minute. That was the Nigeria international last action of the match, as he was immediately replaced by Mark Viduka. Viduka could do little to get Newcastle back into the game, and at the other end only a superb block by Harper denied Adebayor his goal. Three minutes after that, Theo Walcott - who replaced Rosický - had an opportunity for the hosts after being slipped in by Francesc Fabregas, but his low left-footed shot was saved by the feet of Harper.

At the 66th minute, the in-form van Persie was so profligate with his chance as he put Arsène Wenger's team ahead with a superb free-kick: a foul on Fabregas just outside the Toon area to the right of centre gave the Dutchman his opportunity, and the former Feyenoord striker took full advantage by curling a shot over the wall and into the near top corner of Harper's net. Harper continued to be the busier of the goalkeepers and with 15 minutes remaining he had to tip over a rising Adebayor shot, while from the resulting corner Kolo Toure's header was cleared off the line by Geremi.

Just as the game looked to be drifting to a predictable close, Magpies pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute when the unmarked Ameobi tapped home at the far post after James Milner had volleyed Nicky Butt's corner goalwards. However, there was not much time left after that for Newcastle to build on the goal, and they are now just three points on two games.

What program did you use to do the "slideshow" without it losing too much quality, cause it ain't bad.

And again the presentation is very professional, though the small text gets a bit tiredsome on the eyes.
