That response was medication enough. Thanks for your honest feedback.

Its not bullshit. Im trying to cognitive therapy my ass out of depression and I keep working with ideas to see their effectiveness in making me feel better and help me have a more positive disposition.

Im making progress as I am understanding which ways of thinking are constructive and which are not. I have had a lot of ups and downs but I am understanding myself better and am shedding a lot of negativity that has been weighing me down my whole life.

The first step is knowing or learning how one becomes happy

That was my advice. Of course, happiness is different for everybody, so it's up to you to figure out what you need. Once you find out what you need, I suggest surrounding yourself with people that can help you or teach you how to get what that is

You are right and that has been the tough part. I decided to fully empower myself as a person a couple of years ago because my life sucked and there was a lot of hurt inside me. I had an antagonistic view towards people and wanted to show everyone that I was better than them. I went to a job where I worked really well for about 13 months and quit willingly because my antagonistic attitude towards people caused me to endure a lot of psychological abuse (Im not fully innocent either. People who are hurt end up hurting others as well).

Anyways, I am some 10 months removed from that job and still have strong memories of having put up with all that shit. I have done a lot of soul searching and have tried to correct my own mentality but this shit is hard. My goal is no longer to be competive with other people but just to become the best version of myself I can become.

Im making progress but when the lows hit you its not fun. I know in my heart I have the potential to be a happy person and be a good example of a strong and loving individual.

I used to be happy, but then they changed what happiness was, and now what I’m happy about isn’t it. And what’s happy seems weird and scary to me.

I figured it out. My antagonism has been the problem all along. But it was a necessary step I had to take in order to build self confidence that comes only by being willing to put up a fight for what you believe in. I am moving forward in life as a loving person who wants to be a positive influence wherever I go. I have learned all I needed to learn from negativity and am glad to finally have enough insight to leave it behind for good.

You could call this phase I went through what is usually known as "facing your inner demons" phase and I am glad to have made it out of it succesfully. I am looking forward to living a happy life.

I hate to double post but this is a new thought that came to me. I was happy as a child because back then I was willing to laugh at myself. I used to make self deprecating jokes and act silly which made others laugh and made me feel good too. Its been said that children come into the world already knowing the truth but they lose themselves in trying to fit in with the ideas and beliefs of society.

All my issues have been caused by me taking myself too seriously as I was going through my empowerment stage. Now I am going back to the way I was as a kid; willing to laugh at myself and let go of all anger and resentment.

Had a new idea/insight this morning. A lot of things come and go in life but one thing that always remains is the sadness that is at the core of every conscious being. I have been trying to escape this sadness for the past few years which has led to all my misery and also caused me to end up hurting others as well.

From now on I am willing to fully embrace the sadness that is inside me because after all it is the truth. I hope accepting this truth will set me free.

I think I have figured it out. The way out of depression is to be your own best cheerleader (ha, gay!). I hereby encourage myself to not tolerate things I don't like. I encourage myself to live up to my own standards. I encourage myself to stop worrying. I encourage myself to be joyful. I encourage myself to be the best I can be. I encourage myself to be happy.
