NBA Random Discussion 2012-13 Season

Where do we post random things from daily games? There arent any threads for overall discussion of this season. Not everybody will want to make a new thread about something random NBA related they want to say.

Agreed, from my perspective having one thread for league discussions is sensible, otherwise I won't post in NBA Talk at all. For a NBA fan who doesn't follow any particular team (& therefore will usually keep out of team threads), it's good to have somewhere to post general thoughts that don't deserve their own thread. I'll start it off.

Firstly, great to see James Harden have a great debut for Rockets. In today's NBA, he's such a lethal threat since he can play pick and roll and slice through defenders & get to the hoop (& FT line). His outside shooting is now more consistent. I've been a big fan of Harden since early in his sophomore season with Arizona State. I'll admit I don't like his big beard, I prefer him with just a goatie, but apart from that, all good. I'm hoping for great things from Harden over his career. I still don't think he's a number one option on a top team, but he'll put up good numbers in that role in Houston.

Other than that, great to see Bogut actually play. Hopefully when he gets himself in game shape, that W's will actually utilise him better than what Bucks did (although I'm doubtful).

-James Harden will be an All-Star, if there was any question before.
-Dallas has a few steals on the roster in Mayo, Wright, Crowder. Brand still looks decent.
-Steve Nash's body was only holding up all these years because he was in Phoenix.

Philly beat Denver without Bynum and held them down to 75 points (they scored less than 90 only 4 times last season). Something tells me that winning without Bynum is a skill this team will have to utilize very often and they do that by playing tough defense and making the game a slugfest. Not pretty, but it works.

Shame on those of Sixers fans who booed Iggy yesterday. Some of the Philly fanbase can be really fucking stupid sometimes, especially when it comes to Andre Iguodala - anything about him. He had a pretty bad game by the way, but not many people on the Nuggets didn't.

Good thing we won despite the newcoming trio of shooters doing quite badly. It was made possible by Spencer Hawes owning the game and hearing some MVP chants towards the end. He's a beast and a half you guys, I told you. Too bad Kwame didn't play.

Jrue signed the extension at the last minute. He wanted a max, settled for 41/4. That's not too bad, but probably still a bit more than he's worth at the moment. Assuming he develops, it's a reasonable deal.

Lillard seems to be too good, too early right now. I am starting to get scared. Can things really be this good? I hope he becomes a legitimate star in the league.

Lamarcus Aldridge needs to grab some damn rebounds. Had like 0 until the last 5 minutes of the game and ended up with 3.

Other than that the Blazers core seems very promising.

We've got one now, though. Just needed someone to create it. ;)

Spurs/Hornets was the first game televised here, caught the replay last night. Quite a good game, better than I was expecting it to be as it turned out to be pretty competitive. Al-Farouq Aminu had some entertaining moments for the Hornets, looks like he's going to get a decent amount of playing time this season. My new early pick for MIP.

Where's the thumb up button for this thread?

Manu Ginobili (back spasms) will not play against the Thunder on Thursday.Ginobili will miss his second game of the season for San Antonio. Back spasms can linger for most of the season and with the propensity Pop has to rest his players, Manu is likely going to rest a game here and there throughout the season. Danny Green is worth owning in majority of standard leagues.

Dunno what to make out of western conference. With Ginobili, I thought the top spot was well within grab for the Spurs.

And Bynum. I really wanted to see what this kid can do as a first option. Damn...

He has a lot to learn and makes tons of mistakes. He looks really lost sometimes and has nightmares guarding big men who have some post moves. Hope is that he will learn eventually and be consistent enough to be slipped in to the Starting 5.

Bottom line is just that he has got a lot to learn.

OMG. Maynor hits the first half court three of the season. All tied going into the fourth quarter now. Lol. Didn't expect the Spurs to let 10+ lead slip away that easy but I guess the Thunder still is no team to be taken lightly.

^ He's pretty good at making those shots. I think I've seen him make 2-3 before today.

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed by the lack of games on some days? I guess I got use to heaps of games last season with the post-lockout shortened schedule.

Definitely. Last season, I watched multiple games at once, switching between matches. Lolz. Maybe less of that this season.

Nice Nice. That young man's skills and durability is just superb. Sad same can't be said for the guy who was picked before him.

Exciting game between the Thunder and Spurs tonight. (Y)

He definitely can get injured, it's been his specialty for a few years now. About a week ago, the Sixers were saying he would play in the season opener. Guess what, he didn't and nobody know when exactly he'll be ready to play.

Really though, I'm not a big fan of the idea to have a franchise player whose knees could collapse any second, who's almost certain to miss at least 20-30 games every season and make $20M annually in the process, completely fucking up our salary in case this experiment fails. Elton Brand flashbacks.

The Bulls defense is too much for the Cavs. They're a young team though; hopefully they can learn something from this.

Durant seems to have improved his rebounding this season. 23p-14r-5a against the Spurs, 23p-17r-7a against the Blazers.

Just saw Brandon Rush hurt his knee live. He kinda "Saun Livingston'ed" it after Z. Randolph fouled him on a dunk. Pretty bad. Good luck to him.

Doubleheader on ESPN was fun to watch today, pretty impressive shooting display for the Knicks. Sheed nails the three to punctuate the win and his comeback game. Great effort by the Clippers, too.
