Early nba predictions

In the west i believe the top 4 teams will be the lakers, mavericks, spurs and oklahoma city. And in the western conference finals i see the lakers and the mavericks with the lakers winning the conference.

In the east i think the divsional winner will be, boston, Milwaukee/chicago(undecided) and miami
I also think think that in the eastern conference finals it will be boston and miami with boston winning, in fact i think that the celtics will win the nba championship with Shaq finally vs Kobe in the finals.

The central division will be even between the top three teams which i think will be chicago, (because of boozer, Rose and Deng if healthy or Noah) and the third place team cleveland which should win between 40-45 games this year and fighting for that 6th, 7nth and 8th playoff spot.

I think Oklahoma City will win their division because i think denver will loose Carmelo but should still be good enough to come second.

Here are my standings for east and west conference

Nope, orlando will be more like 4th in the east only because they might not win the southeast. Boston, miami, chicago and orlando in that order. I'm not saying that chicago will be better than orlando, i'm just saying that chicago will have the higher seed due to winning the division, that's if they win, milwaukee could still win the central but that's a 60% chance of that happening. I don't think orlando stands a chance of winning the south east because of the superstars that the heat have, the heat have more scorers than the magic, but that's just an opinion. Also i think that Chicago will win 47 and milwaukee 45, miami 55 and orlando 50, i strongly think that the bulls will win the central, celtics should win 60, if healthy.

It doesn't work like that. Under your win predictions the seeds would be:
1. Boston
2. Miami
3. Orlando
4. Chicago
5. Milwaukee

Just 55 for Miami? Try 70. I'll post my whole prediction later. Have to go some where right now. Later!

• Miami will win 60 games and one of the trio will get injured for 20+ games
• Denver won't make the playoffs (I said it 2 months ago!)
• San Antonio will squeak in with luck
• Phoenix will be in the West Semifinals
• LeBron will cry in Cleveland
• Oklahoma will be in the West Finals
• Melo traded in midseason
• Chris Paul too, but not to NY
• Eddy Curry will be traded
• The Nets will stay in the bottom of the East, maybe of the League
• Charlotte will be deep in playoffs

z02, your prediction for Houston is one that I miserably disagree with. :shake: With improvements to the team in Lee, Miller, and the dumping of Ariza, Rockets should at least tie their regular season record from last year.

That was changed after the two best teams in the league met in the second round instead of conference finals. A division winner is guaranteed a top four seed, but the top four seeds are seeded based on record.

Ok, I'll bite. I love doing these threads.

Western Conference:
1. Portland (They probably can't beat LA in a 7 game series, at least not without Oden. As long as Roy, Batum and the rest of the team's core stays healthy, they can still be a very good team without Oden. Gotta love Marcus Camby!
2. LA Lakers (Best team by far in the conference, but coasting and injuries should drop them to the 2 seed.
3. San Antonio (finally healthy and boasting a legit starting C, I can see the Spurs retaking the southwest)
4. Houston (are being slept on, despite having a very stacked, talented team. If Yao can play like he did in 08-09, they're contenders again.
5. OKC (Don't know why everybody is penciling them at the #2 spot. Who did they get to improve their team? Improvement to young players is negated by the team not having another injury-free season)
6. Dallas (One of the most overrated teams in the league. I reckon they regress to the mean this season, then have another good series with the Spurs for the right to be swept in round #2)
7. Utah (Probably not as good as they were last year, but neither are Denver or Phoenix!)
8. Denver (was tempted to put them at #3 but the Melo distraction and likely trade keeps them from accomplishing much of anything)
----------
New Orleans (Chris Paul's supporting cast is really really bad)
Phoenix (Turkoglu sucks! Turkoglu sucks!)
Memphis (lol Rudy Gay)
Golden State (Could surprise, but probably won't)
Sacramento (If there's a 2011-12 season, that will be their year of emergence)
LA Clippers (Don't let their only somewhat subpar start to last season fool you - they suck)
Minnesota (worst team ever?)

Eastern Conference:
1. Miami (will win a shitload of games)
2. Orlando (will also win a shitload of games)
3. Milwaukee ($20 = mine)
4. Boston (winner of the division by default, though #5 seed has better record)
5. Chicago (improved, but overrated)
6. Atlanta (the first of 5 straight 6th place finishes)
7. New York (they are fairly decent)
8. Charlotte (sucks they didn't get Devin Harris. That first playoff win will likely have to wait some more)
----------
Cleveland (they stay competitive before having a fire sale on Jamison, Mo Williams, etc.)
Indiana (they suck, but they also suck at sucking)
New Jersey (improved, but not playoff caliber)
Philadelphia (still a mess)
Detroit (god their roster sucks!)
Washington (Wall-Arenas will be a failure, and their roster isn't the most talented. Harrison Barnes would be a great addition to the Wiz Kidz...)
Toronto (Andrea Bargnani will likely lead their team in scoring, rebounding and defensive win shares.)

Awards:
MVP: Kevin Durant (will average a lot more points than LeBron)
MIP: Rodrigue Beaubois (hype hype hype!)
DPotY: Gerald Wallace (Dwight Howard is BORING!)
6th Man: Corey Maggette (last I checked he's not starting)
ROY: John Wall (it will be ugly)
CotY: Nate McMillan (shocking #1 seed!)
Exec: David Kahn (actually Pat Riley)

Lakers end up beating Miami in 6 or 7 games, with Kobe winning MVP despite Pau obviously deserving it more.

Stop hating on the Mavs, Lamrock :p /nudge. We have Tyson fucking Chandler! And Ian Mahinmi!

Pointless and biased Southwest forecast: the Mavs will tease your resident Mavs fan for five months, defy John Hollinger's largely retarded statistical formulas, win a first-round series in seven, then blow yet another home game at an inopportune time and lose in the second round. I don't see how the Spurs have made particular leaps and bounds: Duncan's not going to have an Indian summer, Manu is not going to extrapolate his epic final two months for a whole season, Richard Jefferson is still Richard Jefferson. Even with likely improvement by DeJuan Blair and George Hill, and although Tiago Splitter and James Anderson add some pretty darn good rotational depth (though I doubt it would be much more), I don't see how the Spurs improve on last season any more than marginally, especially if they do the entire coasting thing again. As for Houston, they're an absolute curiosity. Their depth is really impressive, yet Yao's obviously still a wildcard (can he really be a difference-maker on short PT as rumoured?), I'm still not sure about Aaron Brooks, and can they get by without a go-to guy (yay, NBA cliche)?

Also, LeBron will be done for the season in December when he sprains his ego.

Southwest Division Predictions:

Dallas - I think this team can be as high as the no.2 seed and as low as the no.5 seed. Sad to say that they will have a bad playoffs performance again, poor Jason Kidd.
San Antonio - Again can be as high as the no.2 seed and as low as the no.4 seed. Will do great in the playoffs and have a chance to reach the conference finals
Houston - no.3 seed or no.5. With a returning Yao Ming, Brooks won't have to attempt a lot of shots. Both Brooks and Martin will have lot of open shots because of Yao and Scola. Can go as far as the second round depending on their health.
New Orleans - no.6 seed. CP3 will be as competitive as ever and will push his team, if the team can have a major trade maybe just maybe they can be a contender but right now their just a mere playoff team.
Memphis - Won't reach the playoffs, Mayo and Randolph will outplay Gay. The team will going to trade Gasol so that Thabeet can have more playing time. :D

When I look Miami Heat, I see 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks (eliminated by Warriors at 1st round). You can see Miami Heat at top 3.

Me too. Boston's big 3 has become a gigantic 5 in a matter of months. With Rondo beating the crap out of every PG except Nash, Williams, and Paul, they'll be near the top and I'm already looking forward to the Boston-Miami ECF series for next year!

Axel. wrote:z02, your prediction for Houston is one that I miserably disagree with. :shake: With improvements to the team in Lee, Miller, and the dumping of Ariza, Rockets should at least tie their regular season record from last year.

I chose what I chose because I don't really have faith in Yao Ming's health. :( I would like them to reach the playoffs, but I think they'll be borderline.

That would only happen if they stayed healthy the entire season and LA lost Kobe, Gasol, and Odom for like two months.

Other random shit that might happen this season.
-Records broken by Minnesota for: worst record ever in the NBA; the first 82 game losing streak in the NBA  ; the only team in the league where the team has the rookie of the year (Wes Johnson- like anyone else can score :D ) scoring 30 ppg; worst loss ever in the NBA (will lose by 100 against Miami)
-Records broken by Miami: best record ever (75-7?) ; two guys share the Finals MVP (Wade and LeBron); adding a fourth amazing player halfway through the season (*cough*nash*cough*)

Even without Yao, this is a team with potential. The Rockets have improved almost everywhere, they didn't downgrade. We replace a chuck-20-shots-a-game Ariza with a solid defender and scorer in Courtney Lee, so now we have two perimeter defenders, Battier and Lee. Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin will get more open shots because Yao Ming and Luis Scola command a double team down low. Basically, the Rockets have nice depth everywhere, but depending on Yao Ming, we'll take a 4th at the most, and 8th seed at the least.

lol I was joking about the last two, but I do think the Heat have a chance of smashing the 72 win mark. As for Minny, they aren't likely to lose all 82 games this season They might lose one or two against a team like the 76ers or the trainwreck that calls themselves the Pistons. :D and I think Martell Webster will do pretty good this season, but don't they play the same position?

so far liking lamrock's the most in exception of a few such as port being on top. imo lakers r truly the outstanding team from west.

east i think will be messy earily in the season. miami needs to learn to play together, celtics need to gel as well, orlando is going to be orlando not truly the best nor mediocre. for now, i have to guess it's gonna be miami tho. just too much talents surrounding wade.
