A thread for the followers of NBA aesthetics.

Postby SAAB on Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:57 am

Given the soon arriving commencement of the NBA season, I'd like to establish this as a thread wherein we can share any information regarding an NBA team choosing to switch, change, or add new jerseys.

As of now, the only confirmed changes I have the knowledge of are:

1. Houston Rockets: Adding a new alternate uniform, confirmed by Darryl Morey to be comprised of shades of red, white, and mustard. (I will find a link ASAP)

2. Philadelphia 76ers: Changing to a new uniform set reminiscent of the retro jerseys, (red, white, and blue). Viewable on their official website.

ew? why can't they just get the black alternate that everyone makes for Live/2k9. Toronto got a black alternate this past year, why do they think mustard works well with their "new" logos and such
Opinions are my own.

I heard some rumors about Golden State dropping the yellow/gold colors from the logos and using orange as a primary color even with the jerseys. Also Utah doing some logo modifications (either dropping the purple or incorporating the music note or both). And New Jersey dropping the Blue Jerseys since they only want the jerseys to say Nets instead of New Jersey. I think conrad would know more about this. I've seen him on the Sportslogos.net while I was lurking the other day.

At least it's just an alternate. That said it doesn't sound that good to me, but then again I liked their pinstripe jerseys which a lot of people seemed to hate.

Mustard. :shake:

Oh well, let's not make any early judgement until we actually see the design. It might be better than expected, who knows?

The old Houston Rockets logo during Hakeem's days has a yellow color, maybe that's the reason for the mustard. Hoping to achieve a 'retro' feel to it I guess.

The yellow was fine as a trim on those old jerseys and if they do something like that it would look OK, but it kind of sounds like mustard might be the primary colour on the new alternate.

They look pretty nice to me. Seems like every year, some team goes for pinstripes...

Sixers' new jersey look alright, not a bad new spin on the old design. Better than the decision they made with the new/old logo, which as I've mentioned once or twice would be a lot better without that rectangle. The Bobcats' new looks alright to me as well.

The Thunder could stand to introduce a new uniform now that they've had a full year to design one.

If I remember correctly, a team has to wait 5 years after a design change until they can add an alt. uniform, to establish the new design. That's why the Hornets don't have an alternate one or the Bobcats had to wait until this season (2004-09) to get new ones.
Talking new 'Cats' jerseys, I really like them, those lines work for me. The Sixers' ones are too plain though, they should add a blue outline around the SIXERS text and the numbers, IMO.

Well, I meant a brand new design for the Thunder. The NBA might grant an exception there given the short amount of time they had to complete the move and technically. The Bobcats also introduced an alternate before they were in the league for five years as they've had that blue alternate for a couple of years now.

The Mavericks have a new alt uniform this year, just waiting for them to reveal it...
