"For me and millions of others who literally grew up and came of age during the Kobe Bryant era, Kobe was as much a part of life as the seasons, the California sunsets, death, love and taxes. I know it sounds a bit dramatic but when the sun goes down tonight, a monumental part of our youth will be settling into the night as well."
Well put. Thank you for the memories Kobe. Legend.

Scott reportedly fired. It's not fair, but that's the business... Even Phil would not be able to overcome Jimmy Buss's mismanagement and an extremely young but talented roster with the most available veteran leadership being Nick Young
Oh I totally agree Kevin to some respect, I think anyone could coach the Warriors and come away with a decent win tally.
It's hard because you don't really know what his coaching is really like till you give him a rebuilding or middle of the pack type team but in this day and age teams jump at hype.

I'll say the system that Kerr put in GSW is so good that they can win by themselves without him. Just shows how Mark Jackson was holding back the team when his roster is about the same as Kerr's.
George Karl to the Lakers. Man knows how to develop bigs and guards, like Randle and Russell/Clarkson.

But why? Other than "oh, he's a former Laker player and Laker coach"? He hasn't had any real success anywhere as a head coach (other than being handed the championship Lakers team and failing with them). What makes the Lakers think that's going to change now?
That was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, a facetious suggestion as to why they waited until those other players were off the market before firing Scott. I'm suggesting they don't actually have a logical plan in place.
I seem to recall that this season was the original deadline in the ultimatum, but apparently her brother has been given another year to get them on track. So yeah, let the Jax to LA speculation commence.
Of course, whether he'd actually do a better job is also debatable.
