Dirk may call it a career after this season

Dirk Nowitzki May Retire at the End of This Season

The 13-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer would like to fulfill the contractual demands of the two-year, $50 million pact he signed with the Mavs this past summer.

A nagging Achilles tendon injury has caused the 38-year-old to sit out 19 of 24 games so far this season.

He's nearing 40 and has already had a long and impressive career, so it's not like he'd be calling it a day too soon with unfulfilled potential. Still, it'd be a shame if he can't finish his career on a better note, healthier and reaching 20 seasons with the Mavericks.

Yeah doesn't seem like he'll be a regular contributor this season, let alone make it through next season

He doesn't need to prove anything anymore. Great player and a teammate. Won a ring which is pretty good compared to better players than him that didn't. Obviously more rings would be desirable but he had a spectacular career.
