How can they sign Beasley if they're trading him for Bosh?

"Wade said that he wanted to stay with Miami for a long time"
Players say that. Shaq said he wanted to finish his career with the Lakers, then Heat, then I don't know what's next.

Yeah, because trading an unproven tweener who's had character issues in the past is going to get traded for a 4 time all-star. Yep, gotta love Miami Heat fans.

Edit: Before you throw in the "well there will be other players thrown in!" garbage, look at the Heat's roster. Outside of Wade and Chalmers, who are they really going to offer up for Bosh who would interest Colangelo? Mark Blount?

But how sure is it that the Heat will still have cap space with the combination of Wade and Bosh's salary?
And name players as good as Beasley, despite Beasley's young NBA career.

Dude Dude Dude... Bosh in Maimi. So going to happen. Then Shaq to end his career in Maimi for a few more rings, that too. Where amazing shit happens for once. All sounds too good, especially for Heat fans.

He could resign and get 30M and Miami would trade Beasley for Bosh
Its gonna be great for Miami since Wade said that he wanted to stay with Miami for a long time
If that happens Miami would have enough Cap space to sign a player as good as Beasley

Bosh resigns for $ 30 M ( Maybe this contract is just for two years ) .
$ 30 M ( Bosh ) for Less than $ 8 M ( Beasley ) = $ 22 M left to match Bosh's contract . Who are the other players that would fill the remaining space ?
You can't trade a $ 30 M guy for a - $ 8 M guy .

You can if you have enough cap space. Also, if Bosh re-signs for $30 mil over two years, that's only a difference of $7 million. Off the top of my head, that would be doable with the space the Heat should have. That's not to say it will happen, but from memory it technically could.

Quite right, it will only be around the $5 million mark by that point so it would be a difference of $10 mil. It would still be doable given the cap space the Heat are currently projected to have in 2010 though.

Bosh wants a long term deal, though. He has specifically said to the media that he's waiting until his free agency in 2010. So that little trade scenario is pretty much not happening.

I also highly doubt it would happen, I was just saying that with the cap space the Heat should have it would be possible. Hardly probable though.

I wouldn't mind sending away Beasley if he's to ask too much money or not turn into a solid inside force. We already have good backcourt players as you know, and if Beasley will keep settling for outside shots which aren't really his strength, I would rather see our backcourt players having more plays and touches from that area. Him playing like a SF for the Heat just won't work in my opinion. Even though he might end up turning out to be a great player, I doubt he'll fulfill our needs like that. So if he doesn't improve to be an inside force, or dramatically turn his not so good stuff into great stuff, I wouldn't mind getting something good in return of giving him up. He's good but I am sorta skeptical if he'll ever turn out to be a great complimentary player for pursuit of Wade's 2nd championship ring. IMHO, especially for Bosh/Amare caliber players and Beasley is what we need to give up, 'sure' times 100.

But, if talking about this, I believe it's the same thing as with LeBron. They want to win, so they act like that to make their teams think more about getting stronger, not saving money.

I actually like this explanation quite a lot -- probably the best acceptable response to the news update. (Y) (Y)

Absolutely, it gives players leverage for their impending contract negotiations and makes the suggestion that their current team needs to make a few changes in a classier way than ripping their teammates through the media or publically demanding a trade.
