now expect the Bulls to waive Bynum before his contract is guaranteed

That really is the plan.

It wouldn't be so bad if the picks weren't protected, but as it stands, there's a good chance the only worthwhile thing they'll get out of the deal is cap relief...which is what they would've received if they'd just let him walk at the season's end. It feels like they could've got a better deal than this.

That's pretty much what I thought about it. Bulls could have saved more money if they'd just amnestied Boozer.
Still this deal could be a good one for Snell who's minutes should increase now.

This is much better than overpaying Deng. You probably got #20 pick + second rounder for a guy who was gonna walk away anyway 100%. This just is a nice management move, nothing more (the kid was asking way more than $10mil, tell him to go screw himself). Look at how many teams hold on to their players on false hope and lose them for nothing.

Now cough up the Bynum so the Heat can take him.

I don't see the Kings pick being that good....specially since is not like the Cat picks...it will never be un-protected.
I would use it as trade bait for another move later or in the draft.

The only way it could make sense is if the Kings land a top prospect this next draft like Wiggins or Parker and then maybe that lineup of Cousins - Gay - Wiggins/Parker - McLemore - Thomas makes the playoffs in the 2014/2015 or 2015/2016 season...so we'd get their pick.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Gay making the playoffs? I don't think so...

Yeah, it's sounded so gay in many level

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Jan 08, 2014 3:48 am

Yeah, I think we'll see that switch we can make for the Cavs pick in 2015 if it falls 15-30 earlier than the Kings pick.
Or most likely as Gar said...they'll use those picks in future deals

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Jan 08, 2014 10:59 pm

So I guess the plan now is to ride JB and Taj 40+ minutes a night till the end of season, until Boozer comes back (Taj) or he breaks down (Jimmy)...meanwhile Murphy is warming the end of the bench.....we've learned nothing this past 3 years....

So is Hinrich next?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2014/01/07/nba-kirk-hinrich-chicago-bulls-golden-state-warriors/4359053/
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, the Golden State Warriors are among teams that had been showing serious interest in Hinrich long before the Deng trade. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because trade talks are typically private.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Thu Jan 09, 2014 8:21 am

Really? Hinrich's a free agent at the end of the year anyway and glancing at the Warriors' salaries, the only players who have similar deals are Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes...I doubt Hinrich lands either of them. It'd have to be something like Jermaine O'Neal and Toney Douglas for Hinrich to work, possibly with a token second round pick thrown in. It's something, I guess.

Put Dunleavy on the mix...
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/rockets/2014/01/08/nba-houston-rockets-omer-asik-mike-dunleavy/4381387/
According to a person with knowledge of the Rockets' thinking, Chicago Bulls small forward Mike Dunleavy is high on their wish list as the deadline nears. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because a team's plans aren't typically discussed publicly. The Rockets haven't acted on this impulse just yet, as a person with knowledge of the Bulls' dealings said Houston has yet to call to discuss a possible deal

Wonder who'd they be getting in return for his two year, $3 million deal.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Jan 10, 2014 11:15 pm

Some is suggesting a Dunleavy + Boozer for Asik + Lin but i reckon that's not what on the Bulls' plan so maybe a third team will be with it if ever there will be a trade involving Dunleavy to the Rockets...

Anything that would help them land Kevin love in a trade ;)

Given the way their contracts balloon next year, I doubt it. It doesn't exactly fit their plan of cutting costs and avoiding the luxury tax.

I'm comfortable with that scenario. (Y)

well, bad effort on D last night, specially in the 1st half....we picked up in the 2nd half and tryed to run them off the 3pt line, but by then they were already confident and in rythm so they kept swooshing it.
Great game by the rookie, he was everywhere last night.

FTs...they are called "free" for something.

Jimmy Butler played 60+ minutes.

I know Boozer was having an illness coming into tonight's game but he was having a pretty efficient scoring night with 23 pts on 11/17 through first 3 quarters. Any other reason for sitting him out for entire 4th and 3 OTs?

as usual, it's for defensive purposes... perhaps that's the reason also to the amount of minutes that Butler played compared to that of Dunleavy...

This one though got me off guard ...

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Putting him in the same sentence as Scottie Pippen - even if it's just talking about a dunk - doesn't sit particularly well. Still, you gotta love Stacey King's enthusiasm on commentary and it was an explosive play. If Snell can prove to be a shrewd pick as Butler did, that's obviously great news moving forward. Fine win.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Thu Jan 16, 2014 11:33 pm

So I guess Thibs found his next glue guy to beat and ultra-beat from here on...60+ minutes played from Buttler, and you could tell from the 2nd OT and later that he was out of gas, no strenght, getting torched on D...carry on because he had to.
How long until he gets his own broken leg? or torn wrist ligament? or failed spinal tap?...or we are saying "he has a lot of mileage on his body"?

Great game from Jo....not so much from Taj....really off game.

So Butler is the next in line when it comes to serious injuries. Thibs has a talent to ignore a human's physical limitations.

- D has been really lacking in these lack couple days.
- Jo is having a great 2014, coaches must pick him for the all-star game, if they don't but they pick "Bosh, Hibbert, Chandler or West" then you can't even trust coachs anymore to not be "all marketing".
- We better bring DJ back next year.
- Someone buy a beer and a pizza to the clock guy. Clock started at least 0.2-0.3s late after Taj got the ball.

Jo and Roy for the top centers in East definitely(right behind Jared Sullinger ofc). But too bad people take team record into a consideration. I hope coaches give him credits due though which I doubt.

I've been thinking that myself. History suggests he'll be gone, though.
