why aren't there comparisons to bad nba players? i'm on board if you compare that murphy kid to Cherokee parks
Fri Aug 09, 2013 9:21 am
Cherokee Parks, there's a name I haven't heard in a while!
I guess the positive comparisons reflect the optimism for the best case scenario. It also paints a better picture of a player's style of play and skillset when the point of reference is a good/well-known player, rather than a scrub who's quickly forgotten by most fans. Qualifiers like "poor man's X" or "think X, but not at the same level" should be used as appropriate, of course.

I'll rather compare him to the likes of maybe Pat Garrity since he also shoot threes
Fri Aug 09, 2013 8:14 pm
Whatever comparison we make to describe his skillset, I'm certainly still keeping the bar low. If he turns out to be a serviceable stretch four, fantastic. If not, well, he was a low second round pick.
I'm more optimistic about Snell but again I'm not expecting him to get too much court time or show too much in his rookie season.

lets not split hairs lol. a tall white guy who can shoot. agreed?
a Michael Cooper best case scenario for Snell seems more realistic to me.
as long as he shows "something" like Butler did his rookie season I will remain optimistic with him
oh- and I miss the days when Dailbor Bagaric was still playing the Bulls. the way he dominate setting the pick was just awesome. I miss those days

word up...

Eddie Jones/Luol Deng for best case and Darius Miles/Wesley Johnson for worse case scenario to me... I'm quite optimistic about them quiet-type/under-the-radar players since they don't usually have the hype and they're coachable and hardworkers. Snell's frame is the only problem so far and I believe he'll crack the rotation once he sort that out and he's adjusted on his perimeter shooting
Thu Aug 15, 2013 8:22 am
i'll take eddie jones... darius miles? yuck. why? because he looks like him? lol. try omar from the wire
Thu Aug 15, 2013 11:02 am
Besides that, Miles is also lanky, have long wingspan and almost got the same scouting report to that of Snell's aside the shooting and of course the hype...

aside the shooting...
lol c'mon that's a pretty significant

Derrick Rose: ‘I think I am 100 percent’“I think I am 100 percent,” Rose said, via CSN Chicago. “I’m doing almost everything. I’m squatting, running, lifting almost every other day, just being back on the court after you have an ACL injury, you’re kind of hesitant at first about how you step, what way you should step, learning how to run, accelerate, accelerate while you run and while you’re slowing down. For me, I’m reacting right now where I don’t have to think about anything. If I want to get to a spot, I’m going to get there no matter what. It kind of feels good having that feeling again.”
Good to hear him say it. Sounds like things are on track for him to return in the preseason.

but then again he said he should be 110%... nonetheless good to hear he's progressing... in other news
Agent: Bulls' Deng to explore free agency“Luol has taken the position that he will definitely go through the free-agent process,” said Herb Rudoy, Deng's Chicago-based agent.
CSNChicago.com reported early Tuesday that Deng’s contract extension talks had stalled. They never really began, two sources said, with the sides only talking in generalities and never even exchanging financial parameters.
Rudoy said Tuesday that general manager Gar Forman informed him last week that no further talks will take place this offseason or during training camp.

That's the front office for you. I just hope that if he's not in their future plans or there's a good chance of him leaving, they explore the possibility of trading him. Even if he walks, they're still going to be over the cap next offseason and he's too good to lose for nothing. Butler is coming along nicely and that certainly softens the blow of losing Deng, but it would still be wasteful to not at least try to move him for picks or something.
Sun Sep 15, 2013 2:08 pm
That, trading him, is what I reckon will be their plan A and maybe if they got nothing after the trade deadline and he walks away, they'll finally amnesty Boozer to have capspace to sign a free agent next off season and at the same time pursuade Mirotic to come over.
Sun Sep 15, 2013 4:08 pm
True, they could still do that. For some reason I thought this past offseason was their last chance at amnestying him but that provision is there through 2015 (at which point he'll be a free agent anyway), so they could indeed let him go next year.

why would the team sign him to an extension NOW?? his agent is probably looking to get him an Iguodala or Josh Smith like contract and that's not going to happen. I don't blame Deng or agent for trying but considering the bulls salary cap situation, he's going have to sign for less if he wants to come back.
let him play up his value. maybe a team gets interested due to injury or whatever
Sat Sep 21, 2013 7:04 am
Two weeks from tomorrow it's on. Watching D-Rose play is gonna be so nerve-racking all year long. I would shit myself when he'd take a hard hit before the injury, now that'll be magnified 1000%. I'm still haunted by that injury, that day was like a dystopian nightmare. The Addidas commercial was pretty accurate, a hush definitely fell over the city. It was like when Walter Payton died (RIP).

If a good deal does come along, do you reckon they'd actually pull the trigger on it?
Sat Sep 21, 2013 6:23 pm
Derrick Rose has added 10 pounds of muscle this offseason, in addition to working on his jump shot and 3-pointer.
Rose intends to take it to the rack more often and pick up more "and 1's" along the way. He also says he intends on playing in the 2014 FIBA tournament, but as one commenter suggested, we'd just like to see him play in a Bulls game. He's expected to be ready for the first preseason game on Oct. 5 and if he can stay healthy,
Derrick Rose with more muscle!
Sun Sep 22, 2013 3:35 am
So, he is less fast now?

define good lol
I don't see the team actively looking to trade him if the team is in contention
Sun Sep 22, 2013 9:59 pm
Fair enough.
As for Rose, good news. Just keen to see him back out there, hopefully even better than before with the work he's been putting in.
Sun Oct 06, 2013 10:44 am
Noah's out though with a groin injury
Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:29 pm
13 points in 20 minutes. Great to see him back out there, tough break with Noah though.

Explosiveness is still there and glad to see those Taj Gibson jumpers
