Phil has this comment on Kwame Brown:
"That's awful," Jackson said. "He gave us a terrible game tonight. I had a short meeting with him the other day and told him I really valued the opportunity he was getting and he just didn't give us any productive minutes at all."
Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:27 am
Some guys just don't have the mentality to play in the NBA. Kwame is one of those guys. At least Phil didn't call him a flamin faggot.

Found this video on google and thought it was pretty well done.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 382&q=kobe
I feel kinda cheesy posting it though.

While im not a fan of kobe bryant..i have to say that was impressive. It's a nice Kobe promotional piece showing why he's already an nba legand...and what's amazing is that he's still in his prime.
Most impressive part of the video is his street ballin' clip...i didnt know he had that handling kinda ability.

The ending was poor but otherwise I liked the soundtrack and the clips. Good film.

Bryant figured the response to his first Nike commercial would be parallel to the reaction he gets overall.
"Some people will like it, some people won't," he said. "Some people like '81,' some people don't. I could really care less."
The commercial, which debuted Thursday night, starts with Bryant shooting free throws and ends with his going through a series of drills during a "love me or hate me" narration. It is his first TV spot with the shoe company since signing a five-year, $45-million endorsement deal in June 2003. He was accused of sexual assault in July 2003, and charges were dropped in September 2004.
The commercial is tied to his first Nike signature shoe, the Zoom Kobe I.
"What we talked about is doing something that is true to form, something that's real, something that's honest, something that's not pitching a product, not selling a shoe," Bryant said. "We're not selling an image, we're not here to polish up my image or clean anything up. We just want to be real and be honest.
"Some people will look at that and understand where we're coming from and understand the inspiration behind it. Some people won't. It's basically that simple."
^^ Anyone seen that ad?

Wow... Kwame Brown vs Memphis: 6-6 FG, 6-6 FT... 18 points.
That was surprising!
EDIT: Memphis come from behind win... damn.
Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:30 pm
LMAO! Memphis did the same thing they did the last time they played the Lakers in LA. WIN BY 1. One a dumbass move by Brian Cook taking the jumpshot with 13 seconds left to play. He got so nervous and took the shot because he was wide open instead of waiting. I knew the Grizz had to get rid of that losign streak sooner or later before the break.
Most importantly, EJ outplayed Kobe tonight.

Why in the hell does kobe shoot threes when there down by one. I just never get why. I am a Kobe fan but why. Drive in the lane for a pull up jumper or try to draw a foul but dont shoot a f*cking 3 pointer when down by one

I saw the ad and it was nothing special.
Sun Feb 12, 2006 9:44 pm
ok... the shoe isnt that special either i assume. I havent seen them yet.
Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:16 pm
honestly, even though im still a Lakers fan and always will be, im starting to get irritated with them. Their GM, their players, their coach (yes, even Phil Jackson for his weird decisions nowadays).
Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:17 pm
Hop onto the Trailblazers bandwagon!
Tue Feb 14, 2006 6:45 am
lol shame on espn. they show 4 lakers highlights, 1 Memphis highlight- a drive by Gasol that cuts the Laker lead to 2 late in the 4th. LOL they don't even show how the Grizz win the game but hey, we got to see Kwame Brown make a shot

I was just wondering... do you guys think Kobe's going to last the second half of the season withotu any injury?
I'm really curious because he's been getting a huge amount of burn lately.. very worried he's gonna break down; even with the amount of work he put in during the off-season. (Read he got tips from Lance Armstrong)
Wed Feb 15, 2006 7:39 pm
He's still young, he's a fantastic athlete and incredible drive. But with the Lakers over-reliance on him I'd be surprised (and impressived) if he didn't start to burn out in the second half a bit. Ira Newble's a forgotten man in Cleveland this year though so I'd say Kobe's safe from injury.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 8:05 am
There's always Artest & Bowen.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 2:44 pm
Kobe got a decent game going tonight against the Hawks. 21 pts on 8-15 shooting with 8 assists in the first half.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 5:13 pm
Good game for Kobe.. 39 and 9. Lakers just finished on a tough stretch losing 6 out of the last 8. Looking forward to the break and after it.
I was impressed by the Hawks too... Kudos to Joe Johnson with 20 something and 15 assists!
Ah well, still wondering whether the Lakers will actually trade Lamar for Penny... don't see much point why they should trade LO away unless we were getting someone awesome in return.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 7:02 pm
Kobe's going unreal posting up all those points...
Soon his average might be 40 (I quite doubt it though).
8 assists for Kobe is brilliant considering how much he passes it. But I guess there's no one really good enough to pass it to.
Hopefully they get some better players in the near future.
Thu Feb 16, 2006 7:15 pm
the Lakers usually dominate after the All-Star break when Phil's the coach (since last year they only went 8-24 after the All Star break).
however i dont see them dominating that much this season after the break, but i think Phil will be in their faces during this time.
another good thing is that at least MIHM, who is the Lakers 2nd most consistent player will be back against Portland. I hope this can boost the team.
Fri Feb 17, 2006 12:16 am
They dominated cause they had Shaq and Kobe together. Without the dominant big man... I doubt they'd dominate. However, a lot of games remain at home so it could be a good sign!
Fri Feb 17, 2006 8:41 am
The problem with Lakers is they dont have second player who can be constant in the game, Lamar disapointed me., Kwame is overated., he is basic player in my opinion., who more, yeah' smush is good but dont expect Smush to bring you 20 pts 6 as every night., others need to be involved more., aaaaaaah, Lakers need big trade, i dunno who but Lamar and someone needs to be traded for some real strong PF or Center.

RealGM has an article that they're trying to swap Odom for Francis:
Orlando Sentinel - Add the Los Angeles Lakers to the list of possible suitors for Orlando Magic guard Steve Francis.
The Lakers are "aggressively" pursuing a trade that would send forward Lamar Odom to the Magic for Francis in a multiplayer deal, NBA sources told the Orlando Sentinel today.
Not sure if i believe this one...they wouldn't give up Odom for Artest but they would give him up for Francis?
Sat Feb 18, 2006 11:40 pm
Man that can't be good... that deal better involve some other guys, not that Orlando really has anyone else of note.
