Definitely good news on the Noah front. Just glanced at Vlad Rad's preseason stats, I see he hasn't hit a single three yet. Seeing as though that's pretty much the only thing he brings to the table, that sure doesn't bode well.

I see Teague hasn't been getting a whole lot of minutes. Has he shown anything (good or bad) in that limited time?

He seems to be struggling as much as he did in the Summer League, Stacey King has been saying he just needs to slow it down and flow in the offense. I'd agree since there were times where he's been successful when he does do that, he just doesn't do it enough.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fair enough. Good thing they're not going to be calling on him to play a lot of minutes then, so long as Captain Kirk and Robinson stay healthy.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Oct 24, 2012 12:56 am

did you expect him to come and contribute?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Oct 24, 2012 8:13 pm

Not really. There was at least one post-Draft "report card" that gave the Bulls high marks for picking him though, leaving me to wonder what that was all about. Seems like they were being generous or were just way off the mark on that one.

Good win for the Bulls tonight over the Thunder however, Hinrich is out with a groin strain.

does anyone here think the bulls should extend Gibson before the oct. 31st deadline??

No, at least they shouldn't pay him 8+ mio annually...

if not 8mil, what is Gibson's worth?

and if the Bulls don't extend Gibson now, the Asik situation could play out again.

in other news Delonte West will be cut by Dallas in favor of.... drum roll... Eddy Curry

i say the Bulls sign West. the 'terminator' has his problems but the bulls need another guard since hinrich is hurt. and plus the way Bellinelli has been playing, West is an upgrade over that

I'd agree with that, although the West situation in Dallas is rather humorous. He claims he didn't do anything wrong yet they keep throwing him out and end up cutting him. Jeff Teague hasen't been doing well enough to be in the secondary group so I think West could help.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

That'd be Marquis Teague, Jeff's his brother in Atlanta. ;)

I'd be OK with them extending Gibson with an eye to parting ways with Boozer. It's not that Boozer is absolutely devoid of talent, but as previously noted he disappears in the postseason and for the money he's getting, he should be bringing his A game every night. Well, everyone should strive to do that of course, but you really don't want to be paying that kind of money for someone who's prone to being next to useless at the most crucial time of the year.

It's risky, there is the question as to whether Gibson is capable of being a starting power forward in the league, but at this point I have a bit more faith in that working out to the tune of around $8 million a year, than Boozer living up to his $15 million a year deal.

As for West...sure, why not. With his reputation though, do you think he's going to last long before the Bulls end up suspending him too?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Oct 28, 2012 2:24 am

if Gibson is not a starting pf then you can't give him $8mil per. Maybe if he was Paul Millsap, another story.

I believe Gibson is not a starting PF in the bulls current scheme. defensively yes it works out. As long as the bulls struggle to put points on the board, they shouldn't go forward with a Noah-Gibson frountcourt.

I say they explore trading Gibson. I am for trading him for a top 10 draft pick or in some package with either the bobcats pick or Mirotic that will land a legit star to pair with Rose. easier said then done.

I don't see management overpaying for a bench player.. we saw how it worked out with Asik. also Mirotic is coming over soon.

the West thing is a pipe dream. Thibbs did coach him when he was in Boston... though Hinrich's injury doesn't appear serious and Bellinelli looked decent yesterday

That's a decent scenario, if they can make it happen. Do you think they should amnesty Boozer, regardless of what they end up doing with Gibson?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Oct 28, 2012 3:08 pm

The only reason Boozer isn't amnestied yet is because they need someone who can take 15-20 shots a game and someone who can draw on his head with a marker. He'll be gone whenever they're set to go over the tax.

As benji said, Boozer would longe have gone if someone like Paul Millsap, LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love would have been available. ;)

I also agree with air gordon, $ 8 mio would be to much for a guy not capable of being a starter (of which I'm not sure in Gibson's case)...

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

They could've actually had LaMarcus Aldridge, too; that trade was puzzling at the time and sure didn't work out in their favour. Mind you, they could've ended up dealing him away later and they ultimately ended up with Derrick Rose, not to mention Joakim Noah a year after dealing away Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas, so it certainly could be worse.

Good to see Taj extended. Nice to have it out of the way and not hanging over the season in a very irritating way.

Not the most convincing home win over Sac-town, but we'll take them while we can. Hamilton looked like he played fairly well, and Joakim Noah was a fucking monster. Good signs. :)

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Boozer now; it would seem likely that long term, they'll be going with the plan of promoting Gibson and amnestying him. It's a big extension for someone who's been a backup most of their career, but hopefully it pans out. In the meantime, nice to see them start the year with a win. With Rose's return several months away, we'll take as many of them as we can get, any way they can come about. Good outing for Noah to tip off the season, too.

On the lighter side, came across this. Gave me a chuckle.

these grind it out trype wins i think we should come to expect...

i believe Gibson's contract is a slight overpayment by the bulls. it was likely though he would have gotten a higher offer from another team in the offseason. maybe the bulls learned their lesson from what happened with Asik this past offseason.

as i said earlier i am a little weary of paying a bench player a lot of $$. fingers crossed that Taj can develop that mid range jumper

Most likely. Pleasingly that wasn't the case against the Cavs today, nice win there. Gotta give up it for Nate Robinson, 16 points, 12 assists and 5 rebounds off the bench, made 7 of his 9 shot attempts.

Boozer getting out on the break and finishing with dunks. I do not believe i have seen this Boozer since he was wearing a Jazz uniform. surprise surprise. I will not be fooled just yet but i will give credit where credit is due

Hinrich's defense on Iriving was key in the win. RIP took whatever SG the cavs put on him to school. looked like the varsity was playing the JV.

anyone here think Deng moved up on the amnesty list just behind Boozer?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Nov 04, 2012 8:48 pm

As good as Boozer and Rip played against the Cavs, they sucked pretty much against the Hornets.
Nate seems like a pretty good addition so far.
I'm not sure about Deng. His shooting, especially from 3pt range, couldn't be worse. Defensively I still take him over Boozer. And if you cut Deng, who should replace him?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:27 am

You trade him. He's an expiring contract next year. Pray the stars align and hope someone like Love forces his way out. Amnesty boozer if necessary to facilitate that trade

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:50 am

You could tell the difference between how they played against the Cavs versus the Hornets. When they can move the ball effectively they can beat anyone but when they falter on offense they have rough time winning. Although they did horrible on offense and still had a chance to win, just too many missed opportunities.
