A bit of both.
Kobe drafted, Bynum drafted.
Kobe drafted, Kwame Brown FA.
Kobe drafted, Shaq FA.
Magic & Worthy drafted, Kareem FA.

I could be wrong, but I thought Lakers traded Caron Butler to the Wizards in a deal to get the great Kwame Brown (in your best Stephen A. Smith voiceover)

WRONG AGAIN I am, X.
I considered trades as FA for simplicity's sake in the discussion, just to be clear X and to shut up ugly losers like benji.

The Lakers have agreed to a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal for 14-year NBA veteran Antawn Jamison, tweets Mark Spears of Yahoo Sports.

Source.

Nice signing, the bench is shaping up to be much better than last year so far. He's a major upgrade from Josh McRoberts & Troy Murphy.

They're apparently still considering Jermaine O'Neal.

Jamison brings a lot of stability in both forwards spot. I think he will likely be the sixth man. Haven't seen much of him playing lately. But he patches the void created when Odom was traded, hopefully Jamison brings with him his best 6th man of the year form from his Dallas days.

I think JO is insurnace if in case the Lakers loose Hill to free agency.

What would happen to McBob and Murphy now?

Re: Lakers Thread

Sent to concentration camps.

Re: Lakers Thread

Dwight Howard has stated that he would commit to a long term extension with the Lakers.

This is bad. Real bad. Expect Kobe to retire with... not 6, not 7, not 8 but,,,... rings.

Nothing has been cast in stone. The report that Dwight is contemplating on a long term contract with the Lakers might be pre-mature. So unless you see Dwight and Jamison actually in Lakers' uniforms, it isn't done.

Murphy opted out. McRoberts will most likely rot on the bench more so now. For a while there I thought McRoberts had gotten favor from the Pacers coaching staff over Hansborough. But Hansborough proved to be more consistent. I think McRoberts will be gone too after this season.

Interested to see if Lakers end up getting Dwight. Once again Lakers are dangling their star big man (Bynum) like they did last year (Pau). If it doesn't happen, perhaps more issues. Although playing with Nash should ease those pretty quickly.

Re: Lakers Thread

Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:05 pm

Bynum has been dangled in trades all his career, heck Kobe even wanted him traded away for Kidd, he'll deal with it way better than Odom did.

Re: Lakers Thread

Glad Kobe's not the GM then. He'd be as good as MJ was.

I was more comparing Bynum to Gasol rather than Odom. But yeah, Bynum's personality probably means he won't care either way & he'll just do his thing when he feels in the mood.

The Cavs are also reportedly concerned about trading for Bynum without him committing to an extension, so everything could still fall apart if they decide to back out as they did in the proposed Brooklyn deal.

You're right in assuming that I'm German.

I don't want to have HOWARD in LA, it's like an ALL-start team out there ... i just want to have pau and ANdrew together .. but we need marksmen to perfect the offense ...

But last season that is what Blake, Goudelock, Kapono and Murphy is supposedly for. Too bad Kapono didn't work out, Murphy looked confused most of the time, Goudelock's game seemed one dimensional and Blake seems rather too content playing back-up. The Lakers need to find the new Horry or even a Shaw to fill in this role.

Too bad, Shannon Brown agreed a new deal with PHX (2yrs./7 mio). I really would have liked to see him return to the Lakers. Now Lakers still need some reliable backup SG who comes in cheap. Any ideas?
