So a straight up Howard for Bynum swap, with maybe a few pieces to sweeten the pot might not be totally out of the question now. So Gasol might not be immediately gone. I think if the Magic gives up hope of trading Howard for good value, Bynum, plus, say maybe Christian Eyenga might be sa sweet enough deal for them.
True. As it stands,
this plus a pick or two would work under the cap and might be enough to get the deal done. However, the rub is that Howard is a free agent and anyone who trades for him would naturally want him to sign an extension. If the reports are true, Howard isn't keen on going to the Lakers and being the second or third man, so it becomes somewhat of a risky move.
Not absolutely true. Howard already excercised the player option for the final year of his contract, so he is still under contract for the 12'-13' season with the Magic. The Lakers on the other hand, has the 12'-13' team option on Bynum's contract that must be exercised by june 30. So the contract on both big men, are almost similar.
On the Laker free agents, I hope they bring back Hill. Sessions, I was not totally impressed, but he has room to grow, hopefully translating to Sessions improving on defense. I just hope he does not dream of being overpaid. And finally, possibly acquire a more consistent back-up at SF. I believe Barnes would be gone next season.
