I'd say letting Rose get whatever he needs done for the next few days would be fine. They don't play a playoff atmosphere game until Sunday, and I'd say the Hornets and Bobcats can be "just another day in the office" for the rest of the team.

True, if he does need to sit the next one out they should be able to take care of business without him. Doesn't sound like he's expected to miss any time though.

Hopefully there's a video of the Will Ferrell introductions tomorrow. :P

The Bulls intros were epic, Deng with his pet dolphin...

"His favourite movie is the Notebook -- Derrick Rose!"

On-topic, it was an easy win for the Bulls. Finally -- looks like Thibodeau is giving the starters less minutes in these kind of blowouts, I'm sure Rose played 35+ mins in a lot of double-digit wins.

With the injuries and Rose being bothered by back spasms the other day, it is good to see him bend on that a little. Good to see Rose right back in the lineup, too.

Well, it's always good to see your best player getting a reserved rest, especially in such a busy schedule and after being really unlucky with injuries. Rose seems to be needed to play at his 100% only in the really tough games, which means a lot. Team has build a character aftera year together and as Deng,Watson(Love how he plays this year.He is way improved),Boozer and Noah have stepped up a lot lately, Bulls are certainly along with OKC the two teams to beat.

So when are we going to have the reserves???Can't wait to see if a Bull made it. If not,as Sam Smith said, Rose has to take the MVP trophy again,as he is a lone all-star in the best team in the NBA ;)

The announcement is coming today. It'd be awesome if Deng makes it too, but he's obviously not the only deserving candidate in the East and I have a feeling he'll miss out. I'll be happy to be wrong though. :)

He is unlucky to be in a conference full with quality forwards.Bosh,Amare,Garnett,Deng,Smith,Granger and more, all could get the two F spots in the East...

At leadt it seems that Watson is looking to take part in the 3 Point Shoot out. It will be nice to see him.there. :)

Agreed, hope he gets the invite.

He got there anyway! Very happy for Luol. He probably deserved it more last year, but I think this makes up for it. First time there's been two Bulls since '97, I'm assuming?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Feb 11, 2012 9:48 am

It is indeed. As I said before, I didn't think he'd make it but I'm very glad to have been wrong. Congrats to Lu!

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the bulls getting Jr.Smith when he comes back would be an excellent aquisition. A three point shooter next to Rose? Would be nice. Keep Hamilton, trade brewer and maybe Korver for another three point shooter, would improve this team even more, particularly for a better back up point guard.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Trade Brewer? He has better defense than Hamilton and Korver combined. :?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Feb 11, 2012 10:46 am

He's also doing pretty well offensively and is healthy, whereas Hamilton continues to be bothered by groin injuries. I'm not against bringing in Smith - though easier said than done given the circumstances - but trading Brewer away like that is flat out a bad idea.

Rose out with a lower back strain, no problem against the struggling Bobcats. 31 point victory and the starters once again got some rest.

Time to prepare for an improved Celtics Squad, should be a good game.

I was surprised for a moment after seeing those words then I realized it's the Bobcats.

I read some rumors of Smith being interested in the Bulls. I have my doubts of the Bulls going after him. he's not a "Pax type of guy". Remember Paxson acquired him as a throw in in a trade then just gave him away in another lol.

another hurdle is the amount of $$ they can offer him. I think it's just a little over a $1million or offer without going into the luxury tax penalty (assuming they do not make any trades to free up cap) while other teams can offer him more. Is that enough to entice him to come here?

i think if trading away Brewer allows you to get JR Smith (and sign him to a multiyear contract), you'd have to seriously consider it. Brewer's maybe my fav bull on the team and he's a great defender with an improved jumper... but factor in Smith's age, ability to create his own shot, hit from long range- that's the difference maker the Bulls need to defeat the Heat and he could be the long term replacement for the SG position.

no disrespect to Brewer and Korver, but specialists, whether it be on defense or 3pt shooting, are easy to find. the bulls already have a defensive specialist in Jimmy Butler waiting in the wings. While Hamilton is a solid short term solution, his health is a major concern.

I still think JR Smith is a punk lol.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Feb 12, 2012 12:26 pm

Well, the other problem with Smith is his availability. If he can't return until after the end of the CBA season - March 30th - then that means the Bulls would have to make the Brewer trade at the deadline and carry on a couple of weeks without him, hoping that nothing falls through with Smith coming to Chicago.

EDIT: Or not.

Ladies an Gentleman I am happy to tell you my return to the United Statesis offical! I will be home Febreuary 15, 2012! #Hyped!

I don't know, it still seems unlikely at this point and you obviously don't want to make a move without assurances that he'd be a Bull.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Feb 12, 2012 4:11 pm

assuming that the bulls management want him and he sincerely wants to come here, he'll take the $1 mil the bulls are offering. Now resigning him is another story ;)

given the bulls history with punks like Smith, the odds are stacked against him coming here anyway.

one thing i don't agree with Clevwins is his suggestion of the bulls needing to trade for a better backup pg. the Watson signing has turned out to be a good signing by Paxson. he's shown he can be relied on for starter minutes. if anything, the bulls should resign him in the offseason.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:02 pm

Agreed, Watson's been playing very well this year, be it off the bench, minutes alongside Rose here or there or filling in for him in the starting lineup. When Rose is healthy and they've got Watson backing him up, with Lucas there if needed, they're in pretty good shape at point guard.

Crappy game for Watson, Deng, and Brewer to be honest with you... Bulls will get a another chance on Thursday.

Hopefully Rose can make it back for that one. Tough loss without him.
