I read some rumors of Smith being interested in the Bulls. I have my doubts of the Bulls going after him. he's not a "Pax type of guy". Remember Paxson acquired him as a throw in in a trade then just gave him away in another lol.
another hurdle is the amount of $$ they can offer him. I think it's just a little over a $1million or offer without going into the luxury tax penalty (assuming they do not make any trades to free up cap) while other teams can offer him more. Is that enough to entice him to come here?
i think if trading away Brewer allows you to get JR Smith (and sign him to a multiyear contract), you'd have to seriously consider it. Brewer's maybe my fav bull on the team and he's a great defender with an improved jumper... but factor in Smith's age, ability to create his own shot, hit from long range- that's the difference maker the Bulls need to defeat the Heat and he could be the long term replacement for the SG position.
no disrespect to Brewer and Korver, but specialists, whether it be on defense or 3pt shooting, are easy to find. the bulls already have a defensive specialist in Jimmy Butler waiting in the wings. While Hamilton is a solid short term solution, his health is a major concern.
I still think JR Smith is a punk lol.
