I hope the Clips still have a shot at the 3rd spot. But the Lakers need to show up in that OKC game.

Re: Lakers Thread

I wanna ask Lakers fans this. Which team do you think is an easier foe for the Lakers in the first round? Memphis or Dallas, And which team would you prefer to play in the second round? Thunder or Spurs.

Re: Lakers Thread

Sun Apr 22, 2012 4:08 am

I think they should give the OKC game away. There is no point in winning that game. Let the super bench players play and enjoy and make OKC get the top seed back.

1st Round: Dallas Mavericks
-Dallas is weakest at the 4th quarter against the Lakers. They scored only 19 points in their 1st two matches with only 19 points. Lakers managed to win in OT in the 3rd outing - thanks for the 3rd Quarter rally. LAL 3-0 DAL. However, season games are really different in the playoffs.

Lakers can win this in 7 games. LAL 4-3 DAL.

2nd Round: San Antonio Spurs
-Play slow. I mean really slow to stop Parker's pick and rolls. Let the opposing team settle for jumpshots. More post shots and post rebounds. Limit turnovers below 3/quarter.

Lakers cannot win this. SAS 4-1 LAL.

Western Conference Championship: Oklahoma City Thunder
-if ever the Lakers can get this far, they have a slim chance of winning. Let others shoot and not Durant, westbrook nor harden. OKC depends so much on these three players. Shut them down for the other players are really inconsistent.

Lakers cannot win this. OKC 4-0 LAL.

Fair call, but wherez confidence in ur prediction as a Lakers fan. Lol. I think the Lakers are still a dangerous team when it comes to playoffs where every minute and possession counts, as long as you guys don't lose focus on defensive end.

I honestly think Mavericks are too much of a dangerous team to play against in the first round for the Lakers. Sure they looked like a different team this year but still the defending champs(ok this ain't a good argument) after all, and if their threes start to fall, I think the Lakers will fold and lose focus on both ends of floor. I think the Lakers are better off facing Memphis, still raw and inexperienced, especially with Randolph still out of sync.

As for the spurs and Thunder, it's a coin flip to me. Both look amazing but I guess you are right that OKC gets the nod with bonafide superstars in Durant and Westbrook plus mean face Perkins downlow.

So it seems, this 3rd seed fight might not be as important as it seems I believe.

What? How can the Lakers pace in offense dictate the Spurs offense? The pick and roll is also effective in the half-court. Just look at Chris Paul with the Hornets.

What is this raw and inexperienced you're talking about? They eliminated a veteran 1st seed Spurs team as the 8th seed and had a game 7 against the Thunder last year. :?

Sorry, I got carried away by 2 devastating losses. Lakers are playing too fast to the point that their offense are scrambled. Most of the time their passes are stolen and worse, teammates are anticipating the pass but just couldnt hold on to the ball - due to the fast paced basketball they are playing.

Yes, any team can dictate the opposing teams offense. The idea is to make the guarding player exert much effort so as to lessen his offense. If it is the Spurs, make Parker exert much effort in guarding Sessions. Mike Brown has to make plays for Sessions to score and make easy passes. I guess thats not happening.

In theory it works, like Communism.

Kobe was like, no way table guy! Im gonna win this game but i have to go with the super-bench players. So Kobe went with Hill, Pau, Ebanks and Blake. Guys that Lakerland want to be traded and never wanted. Image

When I said shut them down, I didnt mean elbow them Ron! Image Great job on Durant in the 1st half Ron Image

It was A Great Job by the LA Lakers as they need to have Homecourt Advantage to bounce back from last year.

Re: Lakers Thread

Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:03 pm

What a great win! But why did Artest do that BS? We are on a race to homecourt, fool!

To answer that question ,i would love to face off against Dallas cuz we swept them in the season series and they swept us in the playoffs last year XD We seem to always play very well against them this season.

2nd round - Spurs. We can beat them, especially if Kobe finds his rhythm against Spurs he loves playin and winning against :D Thunder is just too good when playin against us, it seems that we have to do some super-natural shit, like get super-quality minutes from deep reserves just to compete!

Re: Lakers Thread

Mon Apr 23, 2012 8:37 pm

I think the most problem is the Spurs as they are heating up! Unless it turns out again last season where they lost their consistency and the OKC will be a lesser problem.

Not to shit on the thread, but I find it funny that a Lakers fan wanted the Lakers to win because Russell Westbrook is arrogant. I see a double standard and good amount of stupidity there.

And honestly I feel annoyed by the Lakers fans celebrating and praising the win over Harden-less OKC, with pretty much no regards to what Peace did to him. I thought the win came cheap and unworthy, and definitely not something to be proud of.

Well, OKC was playin pretty well without him, and honestly, i think they played as well as they would with Harden in this game because so many people got hot at the right time. But still, i agree. No Harden, marvelous production from a usually awful bench and Kobe in MVP form, and we only win in 2 overtimes? That's gonna be a HARD, HARD series for us if it happens

I agree I think the Lakers if ever wins over OKC will reach Game 7 (VISE VERSA)

I still believe that the Lakers, Mavs, Spurs are the most dangerous teams in the west. I will also include OKC and Clippers. They have the best closers in the game. I still regard the Mavs as a dangerous team. But I know it's going to be tight.

I think Lakers are not going to face the mavericks this time, Denver will.

Dallas have 1 more game against the Hawks who defeated the Clippers today, still if they win on this game, they would only have .561 PCT- not enough to move up the standings.

However, Denver has 2 more games. DEN vs OKC will make Dallas move up the Standings, but DEN vs MIN is a deciding game. I bet DEN will go for a win coz Lakers are a lesser threat than the OKC.

If the MIN vs DEN game is close, the officials will make MIN win the game. Why? Coz NBA is bussiness. Lakers vs Dallas has more money coverage for the First Round.

I want to see the Lakers play to their maximum potential this year. I mean, they have talent .. But the system adjustment haven't reached its peak yet. I hope they sort it out in the right time. World Peace.... Get Back soon.

It's like that because he's Ron Artest.

Re: Lakers Thread

Thu Apr 26, 2012 6:26 pm

What interests now is this battle between Kobe and Durant. OKC could have rested Durant who played nearly all games this season but they let him go at it in somewhat of meaningless games in last two. And the magic number for Kobe now is set at 38. I understand he only came back from an injury a few nights ago and there's a good case for him to sit out in a meaningless game. But as a fan of basketball I would love to see Kobe's competitive juice kicking in. 38 is certainly a challenge for aged Kobe. But he has a good shot as the Kings are tanking and they probably will be lackluster in efforts anyways. Or they could go triple team Kobe and go careless on rest, just to ruin Kobe's run at scoring title.
