Why is the Portland Trailblazers is a cursed team for drafted big name centers, but they can keep a talented guard that can play 2 & 3 to carry them?

That question is like this one...

Why Phoenix never had a true pivot in his whole history (Exception: Shaq - Alvan Adams)

They've had some bad luck with it. I think it's too early to write off Oden just yet though, he was doing pretty well in the preseason. Once they're confident that he's at 100% after the foot sprain I reckon he'll get the minutes and start living up to the expectations. He's got a long way to go before he can shake the injury prone label though.

Greg Oden is not a bust. Atleast not talent wise. It is pretty obvious when u see him on the court that he has the capability of great things. If only his body keeps upto him that talent will show. He already avgs 12 Pts 9 Rebs 3.5Blks in 24 Mins/ game in 2 games after first game back with miami where he didnt get to play major role.
Right now martell webster for blazers is out right now. He will be back in December, and hopefully with great fire. Nobody cares about lafrentz. he can sell hotdogs at blazer games as far as i care for his 12 mil/year contract.

Definitely, he caught a bad break in his debut and with having missed his entire first season any injury he gets, no matter how minor or whether or not it's simply the result of bad luck such as coming down on someone's foot is going to be overblown.

Is there somewhere a list of players, who have the No Trade clause in their contracts?

Actually, I completely agree with Andrew. I'm not writing off Oden as a bust none whatsoever, but it always questioned me on why the Portland Trailblazers would draft a first round pick big man. Then they get injured where the value of them decreases when they came back. Look, at the name Moses Malone where he got older that they felt like they didn't need him, and drafted Bill Walton to replace him where he got injured. Same thing with Sam Bowie's situation where he was drafted over Michael Jordan which the GM thought that there's no way to move Clyde or Jordan to the 3 so they got a big man instead. Honestly, I'm hoping Oden is the one to break that big man injury shadow for the Blazers where he falls with the two names of Walton & Bowie.

My next question...

How can you bring back the spark that Kwame Brown had against the Phoenix Suns when he was Laker? Also, how can he bring back that surprising double-double mentality that he had against the Lakers on Andrew Bynum?

I think there's no list floating around with the players that has a No Trade clause in their contract. I believe that's actually recommended by their agent if they told them to throw that in. Devan George has a No Trade clause in his contract that he can make his decisions on where he wants to go and who he wants to be traded for.

Do the Knicks have a plan B?
What happens if they cant sign LeBron James, will their team just revolve around Robinson, Gallinari, Chandler, and Duhon?

Guess they will also have a shot at Bosh, Wade, etc... there are more free agents that summer. Detroit has also been clearing cap, will they resign Iverson for one year after this or not? Right now it is a gamble for any team aspiring to land one of those three and especially Lebron. Plan B? Don't really think so. Plan A: a long shot.

On another note, how come Golden State can have 16 players on their roster??? (in nba live Harrington was/is a free agent for now) BTW with the trade down they're still at 16.

You're right...

But if I'm not wrong Monta Ellis is suspended... so another player can fill that spot until he's back, Rob Kurz was signed when they proclamed Ellis as suspended

If I'm wrong, correct me

I think it's simply a case of lots of motivation and less pressure, and Detroit might be the right team for him in that regard. The Pistons don't need Kwame to be a star but there are some other quality young bigs on the roster in Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson with whom Kwame has to compete, similar to the situation with Bynum in LA. Providing he can keep his head on straight and remain hungry and motivated, it could work to his advantage.

Not that I know of but they're pretty rare. I think Kobe has the only true No Trade clause in his contract right now, Devean George had Early Bird rights so a technicality allowed him to block the trade last year rather than a true No Trade clause.

LeBron isn't the only high profile free agent in the Summer of 2010. I'd say they'll try for LeBron and someone else together, in the hopes they'll at least get one of them.

Chaoot wrote:Detroit has also been clearing cap, will they resign Iverson for one year after this or not?

I reckon they won't unless he's keen to sign a one year deal and they come close to winning it all this year with him. Couldn't rule it out I guess.

They're able to do so on a technicality because Ellis has been placed on the suspended list.

so why isn't offensive interferance just an alleyoop?

Re: The "Have You Random NBA Question Answered" Thread

Same reason goaltending isn't just a block. Part of the challenge of sports is operating within a set of rules and restrictions, if players are able to touch the ball when it's above the rim at either end it removes some of that challenge and gives taller players too much of an advantage in a sport where height is meant to be a natural advantage but not the be-all, end-all of being a good player.

What would happen if the WHOLE NBA was 41-41? They won every home game and lose every road game?
