Jackal, it was a pretty safe bet but when you have people coming from everywhere saying that Coach Brown was a bad signing and not looking for possible positives then I would say that right now, what I said before is being proven right. It is still early days though.

As for Bynum, I don't think many people believed in him. Iirc though, you have always been a believer in him.

The best part about the team is rhat Pau is playing hurt atm... wait till he is 100% fit!

Bynum's been back only for 3 games but he's registering some CRAZY numbers. Dwight on the other hand, I think is lacking motivation this season. Perhaps, Bynum's a keeper since he's 2 years younger as well. But I still would pull the trigger on that trade if the offer was on the table due to Bynum's injury history.

Quoted for truth. I love Bynum's game, but u can't take a chance on an injury prone guy if you are Lakers management and CAN get Dwight. For Magic, on the other hand, if they wanna trade, i think we are the only team that can propose a good big man in return. They might HAVE TO take a chance in Bynum. But if MAgic ask for Pau - screw the trade, that's the bottom line.

If I'm not wrong, he meant to say "wearing another jersey" and not actually "wearing New Jersey Net's jersey". Thats quite a play with words, but thats the way I understand that. Please enlighten me guys. Is Dwight Howard considering L.A. Lakers or New Jersey Nets (or New York "Manhattan" Nets)?

Time is kinda running out now, All-Star Game is in like 2 months. Magic have to hurry, i think. They might be stuck with a new LeBron James kind of situation. And team is not that bad, they just have to get some pieces back. I don't see anybody in New Jersey who is worth trading him for.

This is an issue, Kobe-Kobs needs to chill out a bit with his shooting. He is very streaky this season

Definiitely, Kobe's shooting attempts have been up. It looks like the '03-'07 version of Kobe is back. But I think the coaching staff asked or maybe Kobe took it upon himself to consciously shoot more while they are trying to adjust to the new offense. I think the higher priorty things on the Lakers' list to fix is tp adjust to the new offense, get the glaringly high team turnover rate down and settle in to the new rotations and roles. Once these things are in place I think Kobe will be willing to cut down on a few shots. But while Kobe is heaving tons of shots, I see some good things happening more than usual while opponents are focusing on Kobe. Barnes slips under the defense's radar, Gasol and Bynum gets free in the paint, Fisher is a little more focused on defense.

On a side note though, I think the Lakers organization is still unsure whether they are a championship caliber team. So if Kobe shoots more to move up the career scoring list (to burn shaq by moving ahead of him), I think this is something they are willing to live with.

Told you. Under Mike Brown, it's Kobe's world once again. Brown's a scapegoat because you see most ppl still blame management/coaches for Lakers' losses.

It doesn't make sense to ask your star to take more shots if you are trying to get the team used to a new offense. It would be counter productive to tuning the new offense. Like people have said, Kobe is the new offense.

Yep,and the problem is - we are winning. I would prefer Kobe to sit out, get that torn ligament checked, this way rest of the team will learn offense andfind rhythm. Regular season, we all know he can score 50. But once playoffs come around - i don't want no first round exits anymore

The good news is that they won and Kobe scored 40 points with a wrist that's seemingly being held together by sheer determination. The bad news is it took 40 points on 31 shots from Kobe and an overtime period to beat the Jazz, who have a decent roster but aren't at the same level as the Lakers, who got very little help from their bench in that one.

It might actually be a good idea now that I think about it. With the lockout, teams just aren't ready to be as competitive or in sync as they are in a normal season. Having Kobe lead them early could be what is getting them these victories. He could take time off during the all start break.

Knowing Kobe's injury history, he will probably play through it with injections before every game, and look at surgery/treatment during the off season.

Good point, though he's supposedly one bad fall away from being out a good chunk of the season. Ideally, others will step up so he doesn't have to go off for 40 every night and perhaps take some risks with the wrist trying to draw fouls inside and whatnot.

The Lakers haven't exited the playoffs in the first round in five years. They exited in the first round in 2006 and 2007, and failed to make the playoffs in 2005. Prior to that, a conference semis appearance and three straight titles. They've won two championships in the past four years, and been runners up once during that period as well.
