Didn't Ariza walk because he wanted a bigger role?

That's how I recall it too. And in fairness to the Artist formerly known as Artest, he had his moments on the way to them winning the 2010 championship.

Well, we all see how this turned out. As a manager, all Kupchak could have said was - you are in the starting line-up of a team that's gonna be contending for a championship for at least next 3-4 years, you will be getting stable minutes and we won't trade you. You will be getting a decent amount of money. But past is past now, i guess.
I'm excited about Josh McRoberts, he is full of potential and just might have a breakthru season if he sees some minutes. Good, young and athletic big off the bench is just what we needed.
Gerald was given a lot of chances to get better which he blew, but i remember he was pretty good for Mavs and played well in Russian league. Hopefully he can keep progressing.
About trade exception part, sorry, i'm not really familiar with English basketball terminology completely as I read most of the stuff about NBA on Russian websites

With the Magic reportedly electing to keep Howard to begin the season, the Odom deal is starting to look a lot worse.
Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:57 am
Given how he felt after the CP3 trade fell through, the Lakers were fucked either way. And now with Paul going to the Clippers...what the fuck?
Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:46 pm
Mitch Kupchak... sometimes u think he is a genius. Sometimes you're sure he is nuts
Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:49 pm
By the way, i remembered what iread on Russian site! Shadowgrin, w do have enough money in trade exception. We have 2 trade exceptions, one from Vujacic trade for 5.7 mil and another one for Odom deal, which is 8.9 mil! Therefore, we CAN take Hedo's contract
Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:51 pm
No, you can't. Players have to fit entirely within the trade exception, and you cannot combine them.
Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:33 pm
is it time to press the reset button?its very hard to surround kobe with quality players because of his 24M+ salary

Sucks for our team

Another Rick Perry "Ooops" moment, i'm on a roll XD I meant to delete that post, actually, i realised my mistake as soon as i posted it
On the other note, great season we gonna have. All contenders either got stronger, slightly stronger or kept it together. We are the only goofballs who lost our 6th man, worsened our team chemistry and got older. Kobe needs to take a paycut, seriously. Somehow, if he wants to win for real - he needs to get it done. Hell, he gets money from Nike for the rest of his life. Sign for a vet. minimum, LOL

Lakers management livid about CP3's trade to Clippers. And? What next, we gonna be livid about it and sign Troy Murphy? XD
Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:02 am
A Times writer put it best...
The Lakers went from Phil Jackson to Mike Brown, Lamar Odom to Josh McRoberts and Shannon Brown to Jason Kapono. Good stuff.

maybe it's time to call your buddy in memphis and see if they can help you guys out again
Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:19 am
goudelack is lakers' only hope

True, it seemed they'd well and truly alienated him with that move. Still, trading Odom to a fellow Western contender for little in return...surely there was a better solution than that.

Odom asked to be traded after the first trade fell through because he did not want to play for a team that didn't want him on it.
Sat Dec 17, 2011 9:56 am
I know, but from the Lakers' point of view, dealing him to another top team in the conference for little in return isn't the best way to grant that request. It's not so bad if they can make a follow up move but it seems nothing is imminent.

Kobe : I don't know what direction Lakers are going myself.
Stephen a. Smith : Kobe might ask for a trade.
Who invented a time machine and put us in 2007 again?
Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:46 am
Has Kobe actually come out and asked for a trade? It seems like Stephen A is jumping the gun a little there. The Lakers are still in far, far better shape than they were in 2007 when Kobe was disgruntled and wanted a trade.
Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:48 am
I know Smith is bullshitting, but really, Clippers look great on paper this year, so great i'm concerned about which LA team is gonna win more games this year
Mike Brown is trolling us

We'll see. The Clippers obviously just made a huge move and appear to be in much better shape, but the Lakers aren't exactly in shambles themselves.

It's not even as much about the players we got anymore, it's about mentality, the buzz, the fear we used to induce in others. It's gone

Kobe's getting a divorce. Season hasn't even started yet and it's got my head spinning.
