For some reason, One HD aired the Tuesday night NFL game instead, but I'll probably catch the replay tonight.

How about Jameer Nelson for Derrick Rose?

I call that suggestion retarded until you prove me wrong otherwise.

Counter-offer: C.J. Watson and a 2036 second-rounder.

Good stuff ending 2010 on a win; the five out of seven didn't turn out turn out to be such a bad prediction after all. A lot of home games coming up in January and a majority of their opponents are under .500. (Y)

And D-Rose is first on the Race2Mvp rankings on nba.com! Hopefull for an easy win against Cavs and a nice beginning on the year.

Nice game by Deng yesterday while Booze keeps the great performances. The thing is though that Bulls need a shooting guard who can actually shoot the ball consistently! Neither Brewer nor Bogans, who bricked every single shot yesterday, can cope with that role. I would like to have a player like Mayo on the team. He's a nice fit and he can revive his season on the Bulls. Unless Grizzlies want too much in exchange , this would be a nice addition. Or even T-mac would be good. But clearly a sg is needed for Bulls to be even better.

Apparently no trade is imminent, so they'll have to make do for now.

The Chicago Bulls have supposedly been trying to land a shooting guard via trade, but the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that "no deal is imminent or even likely" to upgrade the position right now.

Rumors had the Bulls trying to snag O.J. Mayo from the Minnesota Timberwolves [sic] or Stephen Jackson from the Charlotte Bobcats, but the paper reports that Keith Bogans, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver will remain in that position for the foreseeable future, though the Bulls have talked with some teams about it.

Pass.

Modest victory over the Cavs thanks to a great third quarter for four in a row. A couple of days rest then the Raptors at home.

How about Noah?

I'd have to pass on that too.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

OJ Mayo would be a really nice fit for the Bulls, but frankly I don't see them getting him because they'd have to give up one of their key pieces. I think they have a lot better chance at Stephen Jackson, but if I were Bulls I'd stick clear of him. Just play Ronnie Brewer more. (Y)

Mayo. pipe dream. Grizzlies will try to get value for their former 3rd overall pick. the asking price will be too high

Jackson would be great too but his salary makes it pretty damn tough to make it happen

Bogans is terrible. it just looks like he doesn't even want to touch the ball. almost all his 3pt shots are not contested but he looks scared shooting them. Brewer plays with more confidence/is willing to take the open jumper/kick out pass. he really thrives working that baseline. you almost rather him focus on that then trying to be a spot up shooter

Make it five straight, hopefully they keep it up for two games on the road against the Nets and Sixers. Looks like it was another uninspiring performance from Bogans; to bring up a question posed a few weeks back, is it time to start Brewer or does it not really matter so long as he's playing more minutes and in the game down the stretch rather than Bogans?

I think it's all much of a muchness. The wins are still happening, which is what matters, and you have to ask would Brewer bring anything extra to the court in those first few minutes of the game or those first few minutes after half time. Probably not. We used to ask the same questions about Ben Gordon being better off the bench or starting, and i dont know if we ever arrived at anything conclusive.

That said, if you are going to make the change, then the time to make that change would be right now, while the schedule is still fairly soft, so it's not as potentially damaging if the experiment fails.

But a good solid win against the dinos. Keeping the starters' minutes down in the first leg of a back-to-back was a smart move, which looked even smarter with the kickass play of Gibson and Asik.

haha not this ben gordon guy again ;)

on a good team, ideally Brewer is a solid reserve. problem with putting him in the with the starters is that it weaknens the already weak bench. seems like Thibbs is trying to buy as much time as he can to keep Rose rested on the bench/leave bogans in there (thank goodness the reserves came through against the lowly Raptors. for a second there i thought the starters were needed to put the game away).

why not just start James Johnson? at least he has the skillset to score and punish defenses for not paying attention to him. defensively- he could use his length and athleticism to stay in front of perimeter players... or just use his 6 fouls in the 15mpg he will get. i am very against playing Bogans with the starters. put anyone competent out there next to the starters and the driving lanes & the paint opens up for Rose & Boozer

with a key player in Noah out, we should just be happy racking up the wins, albeit against inferior teams. playing 4 vs 5 won't cut it against the Bostons, Orlando, Heat,etc... the Bogans issue inevitably will be brought up again

whats your take?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Pretty much what Dan's Brain said, until such time as they can upgrade the shooting guard spot. Easier said than done of course, as you pointed out Mayo's price tag would be too high and Jackson's contract isn't ideal.

Disappointing to see the Nets end the winning streak (damn you, Vujacic :(). Here's hoping they re-group and get the job done against the Sixers.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Thu Jan 06, 2011 5:28 pm

Mayo's price tag may have just dropped.... but who needs that kind of distraction?

I think that James Johnson would be interesting to see, mainly because I get turned on by really big backcourts. And they may as well give him a chance to do something, anything, before they don't bother picking up his option.

But yeah, looked like an ugly-ass game against Jersey, with Bogans really the only one playing up to expectations.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Tough loss against NJ... That Humphries guy really played solidly. Vujacic really pissed me off with that basket on the end,but Bulls threw away two chances on the end.First,Deng missed two free throws with 34 seconds left with Bulls down 92-94 and then Rose took an ugly shot at the end of the game, while Deng was on his right for an open three pointer!!

Not the result we wanted to see from them against the Sixers, especially with a tough opponent like the Celtics coming up tomorrow. Maybe they can catch a break being at home and with the Celtics missing KG, but I think this week is going to end up being a write-off. Still, they have a lot of home games this month and a decent number of opponents with losing records so more than ample opportunity to bounce back.
