The middle knuckle on that critical finger on Bryant's shooting hand is so debilitated by arthritis after the past season of misuse and overuse that there may be no real way to fix it.

Overuse I can understand, but did anyone else read that and wonder what activity they're referring to in saying he's been misusing that finger? Just strikes me as an odd thing to say.

Pretty much anything he's been doing with a broken finger that doesn't involve keeping it away from absolutely everything probably qualifies.

I thought they were going for a PG, if this works though Vujacic will be leaving soon.

I guess. "Misuse" just struck me as an odd word to use in this situation. Guess it's just me.

Now to think about it since you mentioned, it is an interesting issue that the article forgot to close up on. Rather it went on to explain how great Kobe is and will be, playing through pain and all that.

Seems Steve Blake has been signed for 4 years. Not sure for how much or if it's final, but I'd say it's a good enough pick up. He can't be any worse than Fisher during the regular season and he's got a three point shot. Not like they need him to be Steve Nashing it out there.

Blake is an upgrade from Farmar in terms of consistency & heart, so solid pickup.

Derek Fisher re-signed in LA, 3 years around 10.5 million & player option for third year.

Good stuff.

Damn... There was much talk on Derek being the Heat next season. Oh well. He'll have to fight for the position against Blake now. Lakers offered him enough money(+3yrs) I guess.

I don't think Derek Fisher will mind taking a lesser role if it comes to that, it's not like he's a superstar. The Lakers actually offered less money than other teams but Fisher said he couldn't say no to Kobe Bryant. (Much like white girls from Colorado.)

Since LA is over the luxury cap they have to pay the league dollar for dollar for the Fish contract. Glad he didn't sign with the Heat. They have a flopper in Wade already, no need for Fish too.

if fish went to the heat i think they would be a lock for the title. he would be the perfect fit for that team but really i never thought he would leave LA

I was kind of surprised to read that he was considering it even for a moment, though I guess it's an intriguing enough situation with LeBron, Wade and Bosh to at least listen to what the Heat have to say.

After the pursuits of Raja Bell and Matt Barnes resulting in them signing with other teams, I'm looking forward to see if the Lakers make pitches to T-Mac and Kwame Brown. Not expecting any significant help from any free agent signing but would be interesting to see either player join the team. I like Kwame because he'd be a low risk addition who can provide some rebounding and interior defense from off the bench in limited minutes.

I'm not sure about whether Lakers should bring back Shaq if the opportunity arose. We will see how everything unfolds.

Re-signing Shannon Brown remains a priority! (Y) Glad to have Fisher re-up with the team too. :)

I'd be surprised if they brought back Shaq. As much as he's tried to downplay the feud and we've seen some cordial moments between Kobe and Shaq during All-Star games and the like, I doubt Kobe would be in favour of that move. The Lakers don't exactly need him either, so it's doubtful they'd try and talk Kobe into it.

Agreed. I think a Kwame Brown signing would be much more likely than Shaq coming back.

I do hope that Shannon Brown returns but I don't think the Lakers have the money to make it happen.

I guess the signing of Ratliff is a solid signing for the locker room. Pity we won't have Congo Ca$h around anymore.

I hope Shannon Brown is still in the Lakers' sights.

Lakers are about to sign Delonte West. Looks like he'll probably be taking Shannon Brown's place, which is an upgrade in my opinion. Should add even more drama to the Lakers/Heat finals. :cheeky:

Steve Blake | Delonte West | Matt Barnes | Lamar Odom | Theo Ratliff

That's a damn good second unit. Definitely better than the Wolves' starting five.

The mofo is Phil Jackson's weapon against LeBron. I expect LeBron to lie on the floor whimpering in the fetal position when Delonte spills details to LeBron.

Good signing for the Lakers, so long as West has his head on straight. Seems Brown will be going to the Knicks.
