Upgrade to who?
Farmar should be the long term guy...

It's fun watching LA play without Kobe.
The FSN network said the steal + dunk by Matthews was their play of the game, but I much preferred the Odom block, run up the court, pass to Brown who touch passed it to Gasol for the tip-in. That one had me jump out of my seat.
I love Odom, how many big guys can do that for you? I love it.
Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:27 am
Didn't Gasol get that block? Either way, that was a great fast break.
Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:52 am
My mistake, it was indeed Gasol blocking the shot.
Here's another one from Odom to Artest to Jordan, an older one...but gotta love it.

The Lakers have tried to move Luke Walton(notes) and Sasha Vujacic(notes) to shed some salary before Thursday’s trade deadline. One league source the Lakers have even had discussions with one of their Pacific Division rivals: the Blazers. The Blazers, the source said, seem more focused on landing a big man.
Looks like a minor deal is yet to come from the Lakers to shed some salary.

Highly unlikely they'll be taking on a player like Kirk Hinrich if they're looking to trim the payroll.

Yeah. Looks like Morrison is staying too. If so, he could win his second ring.

Lakers need to make a trade, Dallas is a contender with Butler and if Amare will join Lebron the repeat is impossible

... I don't think so.

Dallas isn't a contender, and there's no guarantee that Amar'e will make Cleveland any better. How much talent do you guys need?!
Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:01 pm
Dare doesn't know what he's talking about. Please excuse him.
If winning the last three games hasn't been proof enough, I don't know what you need Dare. The Lakers have been playing brilliant team basketball. Hopefully Kobe will have noticed how good we are operating as a team. He has been forcing the issue for the first half of the season. We all know he is capable of playing a facilitating role when he wants to so hopefully he will come back and do that. We don't want the whole team standing and watching Kobe do everything. That's not how they won in the NBA Finals last year.

5-foot-6 Point GuardA feel-good story for everyone.

Never seen him play, dunno if he will ever make the League. But still a good read.

More trade speculation.

Here’s something else to watch: The Portland Trail Blazers were telling teams over the weekend they had a chance to acquire Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic(notes) and wondered whether teams might have an interest in obtaining him. This prompted several executives to suggest the Blazers were working on a three-team trade, including one Eastern Conference general manager who had been told the elements of the package included Thomas and Vujacic to Portland, the Bulls’ Kirk Hinrich(notes) to Los Angeles and the Lakers’ Adam Morrison(notes), another expiring deal and a first-round pick to the Bulls.
“What has, or will kill this,” one GM said, “is that Portland just won’t take Vujacic on.”
The Lakers guard is owed $5.5 million next season.

Cool, he went to my high school.

Amazing guy.
I can only dream about him playing against Earl Boykins in the NBA someday.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Kobe really isn't that crucial to this Lakers team, but they should have suited him up for the last 2.2 seconds of the game.
Sat Feb 20, 2010 4:40 am
What the fuck is up with Kendrick Perkins' face? It looks like someone hit the pause button on that guy.
Ron Artest is one of those guys that if he isn't on your team, you pretty much despise the guy...he's physical, he plays hard defense and he's a badass. I didn't like him way back when he was with Chicago and didn't like him much with the Rockets either, but now that he's part of LA, I sure do love the guy.
Great game to watch...lots of nice plays. A shame LA couldn't steal it away at the end there.

...and that's the reason you want Kobe Bryant on your team.

What a great game against the Nuggets, extremely physical for a Laker standards.
Phil Jackson taking Pau Gasol out for a bit was awesome, there was a play inside where he went up lost it, got it back and missed again and I was like Pau seriously, the Nuggets are just too much for you. You're not physical enough to play against these guys whereas Odom on the other hand just seemed to be savouring the amount of contact. (Much like Anthony.) So when it was Odom and Bynum in there I pretty much nodded and went yeah, much needed. When Pau came back though, it was clear Jackson's message got there.
I haven't had a big man crush on a player since O'Neal, but Odom...I love you dude.
Artest played a-ma-zing against Carmelo, what a treat to watch him go against him all game long. A treat. I haven't enjoyed a Laker game this much since I think last years playoffs. I hope he can achieve losing another 6-7 pounds in time for the playoffs so that he can play like this again.
Bryant played like a really good role player and hoisted up some horrible shots. It's a shame he settles for some of the jumpers he settles for, but I can imagine not being able to drive inside constantly anymore with the amount of minutes he's played over the years.
Great game, great win and the Nuggets are a very worthy opponent. Cept for Kenyon Martin, he's a bitch.
