who knows which way he's leaning but i'm beginning to think that James will have his mind made up quickly (if he hasn't already)

he wouldn't jeopardize the team of his choice chances of acquiring whichever other guy(s) he wants to team up with by drawing this thing out... would he??!?!

ESPN last nite had a round table discussion of 'experts'- Bucher, Broussard, Barry, Wiboun, and Penn. (though an actual round table was not present). pretty solid show

predictions of where LBJ would go
Bucher- cleveland
Broussard, Barry, Wilboun- chicago
Penn- NYK

i think the best point was made by Bucher: find out who LBJ wants to play with and acquire him

a little surprised that the consensus had Joe Johnson going to the bulls

Sort of disappointed to see nobody mentioning possible Lebron's destination as a Heat. I reckon presence of Wade doesn't seem to present as a lure.

As for Joe Johnson being the Bull talk has been around for quite awhile now, and that's how I got the idea as we were discussing before about him previously, that is of course, if Lebron/Bosh chase fails. I see it sort of as an insurance for the Bulls in case of failing to capture any other FA bigs.

You've never given a reason of why lebron would make any sense for the heat. Other than you'd want him there.

Wouldnt it make alot more sense to get a quality big instead?

I dont dislike Miami or Wade, I just hate every other player they have.

I just think of wade and lebron together: every team plays a zone, packing the lane giving neither of them a chance to penetrate, forcing them to jump shoot the Heat into every game. Sure it'll work out enough to get to playoffs and if they're lucky even get through a round or two. But do you really trust that against a balanced team?

Personally, I'd really like to see a Lebron/Bosh combo in Chi, Wade/Boozer Miami, Lee/Johnson NYK, and Amare/Dirk staying put. Can you tell i really dont like the knicks?

It might even out the East/West battle a bit if all the FA's end up there (if it even needs evening out, listening to the experts you'd think the East as a AAU league)

 Damn. We've discussed on that thoroughly a few weeks ago and benji brought some great points. Too bad many missed it.

I am on the same page with you, almost at least, but I'd still prefer Lebron over any available bigs. Lebron is just too much to pass by if you have chance to land him.

Not too surprised to see Wilbon pick the Bulls. I don't dislike the assertion though. ;)

IMO now that the bulls have the cap for more then one stud FA, the media is saying Johnson to the bulls media because:

a Johnson has said publicly he wants to play for Chicago
b either Bosh or James does not sign with bulls.. leaving the bulls to pair up Johnson and this "other" player as a contingency plan
c Bulls can trade Deng/other garbage in yet another salary dump.. enabling the bulls to sign 3 stud FA's
d signing Johnson means James will sign as well

Johnson alone cannot be the insurance plan. at the least, Johnson & D Lee

Not too surprised to see Wilbon pick the Bulls. I don't dislike the assertion though.

Wilbon originally was going to go w/Cleveland but at the last second said Chicago instead...

there are so many conflicting reports starting to resurface.. especially coming out of NYK media.. it's about time to start to ignoring them. unless Ric Bucher or David Aldridge is reporting that Lebron/Bosh/ or whoever has verbally agreed to sign with Chicago/the deal(s) can't become official until July 8th... i'm not listening

Knicks apparently meeting with Joe Johnson at midnight, July 1st. Then Amare Stoudemire immediately after.

But yet Joe Johnson is "frothing at the mouth" to sign with Chicago immediately.

So who the fuck knows anymore.

NBA executive: LeBron to Bulls a 'done deal'

The N.Y. Times reports: An executive of one of the five teams in pursuit of LeBron James -- Bulls, Heat, Knicks, Nets and Clippers -- said he had gathered from discussions with fellow NBA executives that James was strongly leaning toward joining the Bulls in tandem with another free agent, Chris Bosh of the Raptors.

"I think it's a done deal," the executive said.

He said he thought James was going ahead with the meetings in Ohio "to be respectful to all these teams who jumped through these hoops."

A report like that certainly catches your attention but I'm taking that with more than a grain of salt at this point. Until such time as the names are on the dotted line, I'm not getting too excited.

Right now there are so many rumors, all that Lebron to either NJ, CHI, NY a done deal. I believe it, when Lebron says it himself.

I think everybody who is a fan of/is interested in the Bulls, Heat, Knicks and Nets should just cap their internet access and not go online before the 8th of July, or at least the 1st.

All the rumours are getting ridiclous. Add to the two benji and Andrew posted:

Stephen A. Smith: LeBron & Bosh Headed to Miami
Bosh is going to Miami (thanks Charlie  )
Bosh 'Hasn't Decided Anything'

btw, that dude stole the avatar from me, not the other way around.

Just checked the same topics on RealGM and noticed that dude with your avatar. He also has it in his twitter btw.

I'd like to believe Stephen A Smith, but since Bosh said he hasn't decided anything and Lebron has been quiet all along, I won't get too excited about it.

We saw that and dismissed it as horseshit.

Look at the Bulls roster compared to the Knicks. LeBron wants to win NOW - 60+ wins and at least the conference finals for the next several years. So where would you go?

Of course Miami.

But if he really wants to win, I am inclined to agree with benji that staying with CLE or joining DAL are better ideas, even though media heavily foccuses on upsides of the Bulls.

One would think they'd try to at least get something in return, though I suppose if they lose LeBron their philosophy pretty much becomes blow everything up and start again.

Anybody watch ESPN's Free Agent Summit? Michael Wilbon hit the nail on the head.

I was the most impressed with Wilbon out of that group. Kornheiser didn't have a clue what was going on. Dan was being a Miami Heat homer the entire half hour. Simmons just threw out random and crazy scenarios with little chance of happening. Wilbon backed up what he talked about, he gave reason, and the player who he picked to go where, were a fit for the team he chose. He even brought up the whole SG issue for the Bulls. He picked LeBron going to Chicago and said that the only reason that Bosh would go there would be because of LeBron. He said Dirk and Wade would stay, Joe and Amar'e would go play for their former coach in New York, and said Boozer would go to Miami along with Allen to Chicago. Every player he picked to go where made sense. By the way, even though he is from Chicago, he wasn't as big of a homer as Dan.

Three of four analysts said Lebron to Chicago.
