What about Woodson?
he's free now. He's experienced.Maybe he can do sth in the Bulls?
Sun May 23, 2010 11:41 pm
He wouldn't top my list, but I'd prefer him to someone without NBA experience.
Mon May 24, 2010 12:21 am
Woodson isn't bad. He's just faced 2 consecutive 2nd round sweeps, and if the Bulls land a legit superstar, then their sights will be set a little bit higher than that.
This might spark some talk: but what about Bernie Bickerstaff? He's had NBA head coaching experience, and has spent the last 2 years with the team's young nucleus. Promotion from within?
Mon May 24, 2010 9:18 am
I can see it now....
A bickering within the staff. Paxson fires Bickerstaff's staff

I swear if someone ever invents a way to slap people across the internet, puttincomputers would be one of the first I'm going to use it on the forums.

I've wondered about that too actually. If none of the high profile names are a realistic option then I think he's got to be given consideration.

It's called a
virus.

jk
A virus is like a perfect slap in the face. He turns on his cpu, about to say something stupid, and
BOOM! It's also a slap in the face to you when you get caught.

You have to wonder if he'd be the first option among the assistants. When both Bill Cartwright and Scott Skiles was fired, Pete Myers had a couple of games as interim head coach, before Boylan was given the full-time interim job. I really, really don't think they should be giving Pete Myers a look in.
Mon May 24, 2010 2:46 pm
Bickerstaff wasn't brought in until Del Negro was hired though, if he'd been around at the time he might have been made the interim coach after Skiles and kept on where Boylan was let go. I'd certainly hope he'd be the first option amongst the assistants, ahead of Myers.
Mon May 24, 2010 6:30 pm
Pete Myers haterz.
To puttincomputers and z02:
Mon May 24, 2010 7:41 pm
I love Pete Myers.
Just liked him better when he was the 12th man on the first post-Jordan Bulls team, not when he's coaching Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and (to be edited in mid July).
Mon May 24, 2010 11:01 pm
Agreed. Though I guess it doesn't matter, since the Bulls signed
(to be edited in August) instead of
(to be edited in July).

Seriously though, I doubt Myers is their first choice if they're promoting from within. He'd probably have been given a shot an interim coach by now if he was ever being groomed for the head coaching job, seems to me he's just the interim-before-the-interim guy.

Somebody needs to have a look at the thread in general forums about sarcasm detectors!

if the Bulls hire within- i will quit being a Bulls fan. how could any sane bulls fan want/accept any of the bulls current assistant coaches to be the new bulls coach???!! shit i'll take even Kevin Mchale. even Eric Mussleman. What's Tim Floyd doing? no, seriously. are the bulls fans in this forum beaten down with mediocrity so much they now accept it?!
rotoworld says Thibodeau is the leading candidate for hornets coaching vacancy but the bulls are still going to interview him. he's the one guy w/o nba coaching experience i'd be fine with should the bulls hire him.
some interesting rumors i heard on the way home from work on chicago sports radio... Thibodeau, Cheeks and Franks appear to be fallback options. Rivers and Jackson(?!) are the priorities.

I don't think anyone is saying they want it or consider it an appealing option. I believe Dan's Brain just raised the question as a point of interest. As far as accepting it goes, I'm not so willing to quit being a Bulls fan so I suppose I'd grudgingly accept it. I wouldn't much care for it, I'd dislike that it came to that, but it wouldn't end my allegiance/fandom.
Saw the Jackson rumours on ESPN. That'd be great, of course, and since his contract will be up they might as well give it a shot, but scenarios of Jackson returning and LeBron signing just seem too good to be true, goals way too lofty. I'd love to see it, but I'll remain a skeptic until such time as the signatures are on the dotted line.
Tue May 25, 2010 2:50 pm
Yeah, I really really don't want to promote from within. I've got much higher hopes for the Bulls' offseason than that. I'm still leaning towards Frank, but Thibodeau was the next name that I was going to bring up.
Tue May 25, 2010 2:57 pm
Thibodeau's received such rave reviews that I too could easily get on board with that idea, if he doesn't end up going to the Hornets.
Wed May 26, 2010 5:52 am
That would be a dream for the coach position. This would be a start for the return to the glory
But it's really hard to convince him.Probably he will remain to the Lakers
Wed May 26, 2010 7:48 am
He's not going anywhere, It's just more Lebron talk.
Wed May 26, 2010 8:35 am
if phil jackson returns i will jump off the bandwagon.
Wed May 26, 2010 8:37 am
I don't see Phil Jackson going anywhere. He'll coach the Lakers until he retires from coaching. He's definitely not coming to Chicago.
Wed May 26, 2010 10:03 am
As I said before it'd be amazing if it happens, if they brought in Jackson and LeBron on top of that it would be a major coup. But I'm not holding my breath.
puttincomputers wrote:if phil jackson returns i will jump off the bandwagon.
And why is that?
Wed May 26, 2010 10:42 am
none of the guys on the staff should even get CONSIDERATION for the coaching spot. that is a slap in the face of all the bulls fans. Pax talks of holding the bulls franchise to a high standard and he comes up with Bickerstaff as the leader for the new era in Bulls basketball. you seriously would continue to support a franchise run by Paxson (who by all means is an ass clown if he makes a hire like that)??!!!
what would make bulls fans here not be bulls anymore????
i don't want PHil Jackson coming here either if he's bringing the triangle offernse with him
