Nasty divorces do change people. I've seen it first hand. It's natural.

I can understand Wade getting upset if he thought Stern was demeaning him in front of his peers.

Still talking, more meetings scheduled, little progress or optimism.

From what I've read, Stern's still threatens cancelling the whole season. As my copy of 2k12 will just arrive by Friday, one of the most interersting things for my of this Tuesday will be to see whether they've made some more progress or not...

Tomorrow's negotiations are being called a "very huge day", possibly determining whether the season can start on time or whether games will begin to be cancelled.

Now I know why the owners and Stern don't take the players seriously in meetings when you have Baron Davis looking like that...

That's a lotta Vice Presidents, and the NBPA had the guts to question the owners' organizational efficiency.

That is a crappy group of VPs. Outside of Chris Paul, all of them deserve the league minimum right now.

Right. Half the players are fringe rotation players.

NBA talks break down over money, games in jeopardy

Players reject a 50-50 split on BRI. I'm still puzzled as to how that's unfair, you'd think it really doesn't get much fairer than splitting things down the middle.

Bri shouldn't be static, anyways. It should be different from season to season, player to player, and team to team.

For comparison purposes. Andrei Kirilenko shows us the way to get the 'with glasses look' right...

The 2007 NBA Finals MVP wants to play for just under $2,000 a month

I think our local soccer team could have hired him and paid more.

That's crazy, no one in their right mind would want to play in Canada.

It's obviously peanuts compared to his NBA salary, but given that he has a 20% stake in the team he's likely getting other revenue to compensate. Beyond that, he gets to play and help the club out, his presence probably bringing in some more money which as an owner he gets to share in. Probably not as bizarre as it first appears.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... p-nbalabor
the union will go on with plans to meet with players Saturday in Miami, where a number of All-Stars are playing in a charity game, and Monday in Los Angeles.

No further talks have been scheduled, and union executive director Billy Hunter has said it could be a month or two before the sides meet again. And while there had been no formal discussions since Tuesday, there was an expectation they would try to talk sometime before the end of the weekend.

“We told the union today that we were willing to meet as early as Sunday,” NBA spokesman Tim Frank said. “We also advised them that we were unwilling to move above the 50-50 split of revenues that was discussed between the parties on Tuesday but that we wanted to meet with them to discuss the many remaining open issues. The union declined.”

“Reducing our share of BRI by 7 points to 50 (percent)—a level we have not received since the early 1990’s—is simply not a fair split. We refused to back down,” they wrote. “As we have done since the beginning, we again indicated a willingness to compromise, and asked the owners to do the same. They refused.”

The question is whether it’s offered again. Stern and Silver were both careful to point out that the 50-50 concept wasn’t a formal proposal, an important distinction in the language of bargaining. So Stern was asked if that meant the owners were officially back at the 53-47 split in their favor.

“Back schmack,” he said. “You know, we’re not … we’re ready to meet and discuss any subject anyone wants to talk about. We’d like not to lose the first two weeks of the season, but it doesn’t look good.”

It's not a good sign when Stern has no other option but to saying such a thing and the next meetings between and owners and the union after the (weekend?) deadline will be in a month.
So the best possibility is a January start to the season.

I can see the agents forcing Hunter out soon as they look to decertify and sue.

Considering the league's last offer I feel the same about that...
