Not too optimistic once Donnie Walsh was forced out. Remember who owns the team, and who he takes advice from. And it's obvious the front office isn't fond of Pringles. It's a good bet he's gone after this season. How will Lin play in a new system?

Crushing loss yesterday. I knew they were dead when Pierce hit that ridiculous shot to force OT. Too many turnovers and too much damn switching on defense. I was hoping for a 2-2 road trip, now it looks like 1-3. All these young Knick fans I hear talking championship need to STFU. They can't even stay above .500! Like Doobie said, they're getting swept again if they can't finish 6th or better.

Fair enough. I thought you might be feeling a bit optimistic than that with some decent pieces in place and all of Lin's promise, but I do see your point.

Knicks are raising ticket prices again - just another reason to hate James Dolan. Can this team win a playoff game first - or how about getting above .500? Look at the schedule the rest of the season. You guys think they're finishing higher than 7th?

All this so-called 'talent' and the Knicks are still mediocre. I'm sick of the excuses. Lin's made some mistakes, but he's learning on the job. Anything we get from him is gravy. When are the cats getting $100 million going to step it up? When will the so-called 'stars' play like stars?

In the case of 'Melo I doubt that will happen...

Knicks lose again. down for the whole game, their bench starts the 4th with a 15-0 run only to give it back with a 14-0 run when the starters come back. The problem is that their players only help them on one end of the floor. Chandler's offense has come to a halt since teams started trapping Lin. Novak's D is non-existant, and yet his offense helps when they lose their way on offense. Melo & JR seem to try to do too much and turn the ball over and their ballhogging ways don't help them offensively. Shumpert's D is the big catalyst but his playing time has been cut with JR coming in. so many things wrong here.

It's the coach. You've got a bunch of talented guys who are playing as individuals. A guy like George Karl/Phil Jackson/Jeff van Gundy/Adelman would get them to play a lot better (and as a team) than the excuse of a coach that is Mike D'Antoni.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Knicks are having a big problem getting Carmelo good looks in this offense without him dominating the ball. Pringles has to figure a way to make this work. Despite what the idiot 'fans' say on Facebook, the Knicks are going nowhere without Anthony doing his thing.

And can they stop switching on defense so fucking much? The mismatches killed them on Sunday vs. Boston and last night. Fight through the friggin' screen for once! How many times do these cats have to get burned before they get it? Don't the coaches teach this in practice?

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I completely agree on the switching. It worked great in Atlanta for Woodie because his whole damn starting lineup was pretty much the same size (6'6"-6'10") and pretty even in defensive skill. This becomes a problem for the Knicks when anyone not named Chandler, Jeffries, or Shumpert is on the floor. it's so easy to beat, just set a screen with the guy you want on the guy you want guarding him and throw it to him... easy bucket. the NBA is a game of matchups and mismatches

I'm with Jackal - enough already, it's time to show Pringles the door. Let's see how this team responds to a real coach who holds players(including the stars) accountable.

somehow, I don't think Woodson is the answer. I like him, but c'mon he let the Hawks play 1 on 1 iso ball for 5 years and his switching D is already proven to be a huge disadvantage. Although I did like how he ripped into Josh Smith and refused to let him shoot 3s and long 2s

That's assuming Woodson would even get a chance.

Sadly, you just can't rule it out.

Nate McMillan could be available soon enough.

Nellie has no problem trading away stars or even benching all of the starters. That's accountability!

There's only seven guards on the Knicks' roster though. Not nearly enough for Nellie, based on his most recent coaching stint with the Warriors.

Pringles is a dead-man-walking, believe me.

Friday night was a disgraceful performance. Knicks got killed on the offensive glass and the defense was pitiful. All this so-called 'talent' and the Knicks got outworked by Drew Gooden & Ersan Ilyasova. Davis taunting the Bucks sideline when the Knicks were losing, Smith sulking - this team is a f-n joke, including Pringles. It's not working with him & Carmelo. Get a new coach who can figure out how to fit Anthony in this offense - Pringles never wanted him in the first place. Anyone who thinks this team is finishing higher than 8th needs a reality check. It's going to be another year without a playoff win.

Say it was your call to make and you could make it happen tomorrow: trade Melo, or fire D'Antoni?

I'd rather trade 'Melo than firing D'Antoni. 'Melo seems to be the bad apple everywhere he is. Assuming that you should get quite a bit for him, it could make sense to stick with Amar'e & co. but let 'Melo go.
Anyway it's a tough call for the Knicks and I'm glad that's not my decision...

You already know my answer to that question. I never wanted Pringles to begin with - like Don Nelson, he's nothing but a gimmick coach. Carmelo & Amar'e aren't blameless - they're not stepping up like stars should, but I have to see how this team plays for a REAL coach. A coach who can adjust his system to the talent he has. A coach who holds everyone accountable, not just Toney Douglas & Bill Walker.

Linsanity is officially over. The NBA has figured him out, and the kid isn't adjusting.

Another disgrace at the Garden. Fifth loss in a row, tomorrow in Chicago will be the sixth. But every loss is another nail in Pringles' coffin, so there is a silver lining to this.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

So once they bring a new coach in, how long do you give it before you strongly consider moving Melo?

With a different coach and better point guard, I still think it can work and the Knicks can get on the right track. Amar'e was part of some successful Suns teams with Nash, Melo went to the Western Conference Finals with Billups and also enjoyed modest success before they were paired up in Denver too. If they continue to flounder under a new coach though, he'd probably be the one to move first.

Lin has hit a wall, but I wouldn't count him out just yet. The games that started Linsanity set the bar pretty high and some folks certainly got carried away with it, but those games also showed that he's got some talent. If you can bring in a more established point guard then you certainly have to go for it, but I think there's still promise with Lin.

LINSANITY is OVER ...

Philly extends the Knicks losing streak to five in a cruise at the Garden

Lou Williams was hot.

D'antoni should be fired ....

Knicks: still winless in March
3-7 in their last 10 games ...

Too many players who wants playing time :cussing:
will result to

Knicks should trade for Nash. haha

nah but I personally think that Melo should be traded, but that will never happen when it comes to the player or a coach. it's just so much easier to hire a new coach than to trade a superstar
