In your opinion, you'll like to have Rose and Gordon form the new 1-2 tag team of sorts? Much like Jordan n Pip back in the 90s?

I wouldn't go so far as to call them that, but they're the two Bulls I'd most like them to keep at this point.

me too, and even more so if the one they could move is called Luol Deng and his 70+ million dollar contract, and move him for a big guy inside that we could rely on....

Agreed. I do like Deng but I'm not sure if he can live up to the contract, so if there's a good deal on the table it might be time to take their chances and pull the trigger...as long as the person coming the other way doesn't have a worse contract. I'm not sure his stock would be high enough to land a good big man though, any such deal would probably have to include Thomas or Noah.

Andrew wrote:Exactly. As much as I like Gordon and think he tends to get a bad rap, Detroit's rumoured interest is quite puzzling.

what bad rap? the team had an off year last year and he fell off slightly. now the team bounced back and he rebounded with another solid year (its a shame he's not in the 3pt contest but i digress). plus i'm sure he made some believers after hitting those clutch shots against the celts on national tv during the playoffs

Now that Carlos Boozer has decided to stay with the Jazz, seems like Detroit is looking to Turk as 1st priority and Gordon as 2nd option.

that's strange. Dumars met with Gordon today, not hedo

Sure, but there still seems to be a contingent of people who claim he's useless and the Bulls would be better off letting him walk. Even as he was making those clutch shots, I read comments about him being selfish and the like.

it's not going to happen. not even if isiah thomas still a gm, no one will trade for Deng. even if Deng started playing at an "all star" level there won't be much of a market for him... especially since teams are eyeing the 2010 fa's. heck, if Deng starts playing like that, the bulls should keep him

who cares about them in the 1st place anyway. obviously Joe Dumars sees something in him. he allegedly made a call 11pm central time (but 12am eastern) to Gordon

Which means we must again wonder what he has up his sleeve. As you said it seems unlikely Gordon would want to come off the bench again and I don't see him replacing Stuckey as the point guard, nor Hamilton coming off the bench again.

apparently Gordon could be heading to the pistons says realgm
The Pistons have reached a deal in principle with Ben Gordon, a source with knowledge of talks tells Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal is believed to be worth $55 million over five years.

Lots of players movement this off-season. For some reason, I do believe this will hurt the Bulls' chance at making a playoff next year, but they still have Salmons and Rose's development to look forward to, as well as Deng's come back, so maybe things will work out in Chicago.

Gordon was one of my favs players post the glory years. worst thing about losing Gordon was they got nothing in return!

so what now? not resigning Gordon at least keeps the team financially in the running for a big name FA in 2010. if the bulls brass think that's going to happen, the bulls will have to make the playoffs i'm not liking the odds right now

Salmons is a good replacement but with his age, he's nearing "stopgap" status (and will seek to get his first big payday in a year). they still need to go after someone. maybe anthony Parker also as a short term fill in??

i'm in no mood to look up alternatives right now

at this point...

This just makes the Bulls' draft look even more retarded. Ellington or The Bud would have been very handy in this situation. Not a solution to the problem by any means, but still far more useful than Taj fucking Gibson.

as much as they're both good players and the suns have been actively shopping stoudemire, they can get more than luol deng. the bulls would have to throw in some other trade factors of value there. on the other hand, this year was a pretty big step back for both of them...

Wanna have Peja for Deng? :cheeky:

As for Gordon leaving without compensation ... well, I'd say it was a gamble worth taking. At the time he refused that $50 million contract (I believe it was $50 mill) everybody said it was stupid to do this, as he wouldn't get that on the open market. One epic playoff series proved he can get it ... The Bulls gambled and wanted to call his bluff ... and lost. Shit happens, I guess. But adding those $55 mill to your payroll now wouldn't do you any good, I'd say ...
