Been telling you guys, Darko is a superstar. Well, the one that crosses over from the other universe. But our version doesn't give a shit. At all. Larry Brown didn't help matters by refusing to play him no matter what, so he was just like "fuck it." When he decides he feels like it and swaps place with the Mirror Universe one he'll tear teams apart because he's basically impossible to control.
Brown should have just let him be the giant version of Toni Kukoc he wanted to be and gave him at least ten minutes a game, every game in the same spots of the game. The rebounding and shot blocking would have always been there simply from his size. Darko needed to be drafted to a team who would play him no matter what because he was their lottery pick and they sucked, but had a coach who could develop players. Getting drafted to a near contender who had a coach who hates foreigners and rookies, and then trading for Sheed mid-season which makes the team a complete contender. Well that was never going to work.
I mean Andrea Bargnani was a #1 pick, has logged tons of minutes and seems to be the only thing one franchise has going for them. Darko would have been an All-Star by now in that kind of situation.
Imagine a Darko who didn't check out after his first season and turned all that wanting to rape entire families rage into a giant version of Toni Kukoc that rebounded and blocked shots. I'll be in my bunk.
Modern D-League probably would have helped. Look at Amir Johnson!
