Turiaf needs to learn better dance moves.

Thats all.

Assuming the current standings stay that way come round , I'm expecting Amare to completely rip apart the Lakers. He has done it before against much, much better forwards and centers in the playoffs. That coupled with the intensity of another Suns/Lakers meeting and the fact that he said "I don't think it would go seven (games), we should take care of them pretty quick, if everything goes as planned" makes this one exciting series. Raja vs Kobe, Amare vs umm... Turiaf?

Should be a fun series to watch. Kobe beating Mikes 63 this time around?

Mon Apr 16, 2007 5:01 pm

My gosh the Lakers were they were facing a team in tank mode.

By the way Kobe beat the Sonics. Note I didn't say Lakers beat them coz that didn't happen.

Thank you.

Mon Apr 16, 2007 7:33 pm

You'll find on the scoreboard that that Lakers beat them. Kobe scored 50. If it were Kobe v Sonics it would be 50 - 98, Kobe loses by 48.... Good game!

Tue Apr 17, 2007 2:12 am

Lakers probably will lose this series in 4-5 games I think they have been quite weak lately (except kobe). I would be really excited about the Warriors-Mavs series... Mavs always have huge problems against the Warriors....

Tue Apr 17, 2007 1:48 pm

I just wanted to say that Kobe's double-clutch fade away jumper was probably one of the sweetest shots I have ever seen. I honestly have no idea how he got it over the defender.....

Lakers minus Kobe = new expansion team
Lakers minus Kobe 109-50 = 59
Kobe provided almost 50% of their total production

So please. If it wasn't because of Kobe who shot extremely well, this could have been a "sure lost" for LA.

Tue Apr 17, 2007 4:02 pm

I didn't say they wouldn't have lost, lol.

Thu Apr 19, 2007 12:59 pm

Lakers are neck-to-neck with the Kings right now..

Golden State is winning big..Clippers in a tight game

Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:47 am

Can u say Kobe gettin second straight scoring title?
I just hope they can win atleast take the Suns to 6 or 7 games.

Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:59 am

My prediction for the series: Lakers win in 6. :)

Fri Apr 20, 2007 1:12 pm

i second dada's prediction :D

Fri Apr 20, 2007 1:38 pm

The lakers are gona come out with vengeance against the Suns since losing to them last years playoffs after goin up 3-1.

Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:03 pm

If LA play to the Suns the way they been playing for the past 2-3 weeks, then I say they get sweep!
if they play as a team allowing and kobe takes over in 4quarter they might have a chance.
Suns have too much talent and good players. If LA win this series it will put Kobe to a next level let me tell ya.

A book entitled ":07 Seconds or Less" was published revealing Phoenix opinions about the Los Angeles Lakers..i guess its a new source of motivation for LA.

story Here

• While Suns coaches watched video of Game 3, Jackson wandered into the frame with his painful side-to-side walk.

"Look!" one of the coaches blurted out. "It's the Penguin!"

It will be very hard this year lakers have played very bad lately. Plus Amare is back... I don't really see who could stop him.

EDIT:

Damn okay I say lakers take it in 7 after reading this article... the Suns sound very cocky... and I liked the Lakers quotes at the end... It would be great if the Suns and the Mavs would be taken out in the first round...
And It is possible even though Suns and Mavs are likely to go on... You never know what might happen in the Suns- Lakers series especially if Kobe goes for 4 straight 50 point-games again :D

And for Dallas they have had problems with the Warriors all season long even back into last season so... we'll see

How to beat the Suns
#1: Make Nash a scorer
Put Kobe on Nash. Kobe should go under screens when Nash uses the pick and roll. Also, stay at home with Nash. Meaning give him space to shoot the three. Because if one of the Suns players get in the middle(other than Stoudemire because Kwame can guard him single coverage), it's over. So we should give Nash lots of space and let him shoot all day long. If Nash is the only one getting involved, the Suns players are going to be iced(Lakers actually did something similar last year).

Another way to do this is go under the screen with Nash but recover so that he can't shoot the three. He will then use another screen. Kobe should then go under the screen again, recover, and close on him so that he would drive. Don't help when Nash drives because Kobe will be hot on his tail. If Nash misses, it will be crucial for our big men to get the rebound.
Example of Nash the scorer:

#2: Make Nash work on offense
If we have a lineup of

Kobe
Evans
Walton
Odom
Kwame

vs. the Suns

Nash
Bell
James Jones
Marion
Stoudemire

Nash will have to gaurd someone that makes him a living mismatch. If Nash is left on Evans, we can exploit Nash. Just switch Kobe to the wing, and put Evans in the post. Evans would easily be able to post up Nash. Evans would have to be aggressive, this will tire Nash out. Of course, they will double team Evans, but the Lakers can always repost him. Also, this will create double teams and open opportunities. That will create a 4 on 3 chance, with Kobe and Odom.

If Nash is guarding Walton, that's better. Walton is a better post player than Evans and is smarter, so just switch Evans to the wing and Walton to the post. Walton has sharper passes than Evans and knows what to do, he's experienced. He also knows the triangle. So that's a death matchup for the Suns.

Now if Nash is left on Kobe, do the opposite. Put Evans on the wing and Kobe in the post. And Kobe knows the rest. Not only will Kobe have enough energy to guard Nash, Kobe will not have to spend too much energy on offense.

#3: Starting lineup against the Suns
As I posted above
Kobe
Evans
Walton
Odom
Kwame

vs. the Suns

Nash
Bell
James Jones
Marion
Stoudemire
Of course, we can't play with the lineup all game, but we should play whenever possible. For example, to start the game, after halftime, and in the 4th. If Kobe gets tired, switch him and Evans to guard Nash. So Evans and Walton should be a vital part of the strategy, due to the fact that Nash has to guard him. Basically, I'm saying Kobe should be PG. This way, everyone in the game will get involved.

Here are the Lakers' reactions to the book.

Damn okay I say lakers take it in 7 after reading this article... the Suns sound very cocky

I'm sure the Lakers have never said anything bad about any team

Sun Apr 22, 2007 9:14 pm

Just emotions man it just made me get angry at the suns... nahmean?! I know Lakers especially Kobe have done similiar things..

Sun Apr 22, 2007 9:21 pm

i dont think lakers will win a game in the suns series. suns are just too powerful.

Kobe for MVP!

Mon Apr 23, 2007 5:44 am

Lakers will definetely win one game against the Suns. The Suns have no answer for the Lakers right now. They're giving Nash the shot and closing his passing lanes. They're making the Suns shoot from outside and taking into the post on the other end. But I still think Suns will takes this serires in 6.
Edit:Oh Shit!!!!Anyone see Turiaf's hair???

Mon Apr 23, 2007 6:40 am

I gotta say, the Lakers are playing the Nash/Amare pick and roll very well. Judging by how often the Suns pull that play, that to me is one of the main reasons they are ahead right now. I'll still be suprised if the Lakers pull out a win though.

Mon Apr 23, 2007 6:53 am

Lakers are doing fine and no answers for Kobe. Barbosa is playing awesome though, doing what Nash normally does. I hope the Lakers win this one.

Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:28 am

Kobe fucked this one up all by himself in the last quarter... He had 3 guys over him everybody was open he takes the turn-around jumper.. he hit them in the first half but forgot that he hadn't made his last 8 or so... But still i keep my head up I thought the Lakers were gettin eaten alive... I know now that they at least have a shot.
