yi is definately the way to go, it is almost certain he won't be that productive right away, maybe a bargani at max.. (spelling)

this will ensure celtics get another lottery chance next year hah.. + trade pierce, grab grizzlies pick or something... then celtics will have again, like 40% to get the #1

the other bigs (not centers) in the draft don't look too convincing, they all have the physical tools, but so do a lot of nba players..

I like brewer, but hes potentially prob a Richard Jefferson type of player, maybe with better def... Yi could very well be a mini Garnett, 20 points 8 boards, 1.5 blocks..

Seriously, things aren't looking that bad for the Celtics - you allready have two all-star caliber players in Al and Pierce, and now you have the chance to draft another promising young player? Yi and Al could be a lethal front court coupple in a year or two,
and he will get a million all'star votes for the entire Cetics starting lineup, even if he turns outto be a bust.

Getting Noah would really appel to the she-male comunity as well, and a ticket sold is a ticket sold.

Seriously though, I think the celtics could be rather good next season; few trades (Telfair anyone? Really No one, ah fuck it...) maybe a free agent, draft (hopefully Yi!), Jefferson to all star level, Green starting to excell...

There might be teams willing to take ratliff for future cap space, there is hope for this team...

Lastly I wouldn't mind losing pierce but only in a GOOD deal: points are needed, leadership...

ok so now that i have had time to think it over, and read the info and generally look into the possible picks for the celts(not much to look into with Yi), i have descided i will be happy with Horford(he wont fall to 5), Brewer, or Yi. anything besides them 3 and i wont be happy. right now i am higher on Brewer than i am on Yi.

is there any other celtic fans on this forum and if so what do you hope to see come thursday night?

well I just read in the local paper that Pierce said that he wants to be traded if the team decides to rebuild and keep the #5 draft pick. Also lazer 99.3 and WAAF were both throwing around a lot of trade rumors and shit.


I want to see Rondo/West, Green, Pierce, Jefferson, and Yi come fall. I think that the first 4 play well together and will be a solid team come next season with Yi picking up boards and holding his own on O.

I love Rondo and West, Green is developing, Jefferson is going to be a 20 and 10 guy, and Pierce is Pierce. I do believe a combination of those 5 should start come opening day. The Celtics NEED a big guy, scratch that, a Center. Perk had is chance this year and IMHO he dropped the ball.

Really I think that our best players are decent, and hopefully they will play better with each other this coming year. But I think we need to get rid of the likes of Scal, Powe, Kandi, Wally, and Telfair and bring in a more consistent Center or 6th man (I miss Ricky )

i really wanted Yi but i put Brewer before him just cause Yi is really a unknown. could be huge and even out perform the likes of oden, but will he. the downside of him is also huge. anyway if we get Yi i am happy. only reason i say Horford first is he is the 3rd best player and would probably net us some good players as most teams want him.

if pierce insists on a trade i gotta be honest, i dont mind much. i would like if in a pierce trade we got 3 things, a solid vet, a young player already in the league, and another draft pick. i honestly would not mind sending pierce over to phoenix and get bell,diaw, and the pick from atlanta next season. probably not enough for a guy like pierce but would give us a more solid team with the chance to land a top 5 pick again next season and would also give phoenix the go to guy it really needs to get to the next level. probably get another first out of phoenix in the deal since thier pick will be mid to high 20's anyway for the next few years.

I want this Marion deal to get done - I don't think the answer lies in the draft anymore, given that most of our roster was drafted this century and can't get it done. If they keep the pick, I like Horford, Conley, and Yi solely based on age and height (don't know much about him, nor does anyone seem to). There's absolutely no guarantee that Billy Knight and Chris Wallace will be smart enough to take Horford, so he could definitely slip.

I really see no reason for them to keep the pick - they need an established player to take them to the next level.

except marion will walk. you really willing to give up the 5th pick only to watch marion bolt and then probably having pierce demand a trade. i think if we do the marion deal come trade deadline 09 both marion and pierce are gone with little, if anything, to show for it.

as for the draft not working for us, thats cause the celts dont know what they are doing. they either need better scouting, or someone with some knowledge of who to get. in the old days you had red who would just look at a guy and know if he was it or not, now we take endless bums when we could have had a damn good team right now.

thoughts.... lets see..... we will be back next year, in the lottery, except this time around 13 or 14 instead of having a chance at a player who could turn into something special in 3-4 years. instead 3-4 years from now we will have lost pierce for almost nothing and allen will be ready to call it quits. great job ainge, even better than last years draft. the celtics went from the best team in basketball history to the atlanta hawks.

i agree the team is young, but you need to get a player to build on. we will not win now, aint gonna happen. the only thing we did by getting allen was force us to draft between 12 and 18 for the next 3 seasons.

I don't understand why everyone is so down on the Celtics picking up one of the best scorers in the league for Wally (useless and always injured), Delonte (not a point guard and not needed with Tony Allen and Green at SG), and #5 (wouldn't have been anybody even close to the skill level of Allen).
