My second question is: I didn't see the game but PDub missed a shot to win and Ray Ray made the shot to win... so in a game like this one, the coach would have a say in who's taking the shot right? Wonder what it means for future games, does Ray ray get his name called first or do you think it will be Paul's turn, etc. What do you guys think?

Tough call...I'm inclined to pick Allen given his reputation as a shooter but if they can get the ball into the post then the shot goes to KG while Pierce is also a fine shooter and adept at creating off the dribble.

When you've got three players like that, I think you've got to take what the defense gives you. If they can get the ball to KG in the post the defense is going to collapse on him freeing up opportunities for Allen and Pierce. Given Garnett is a superb passer that's certainly a viable option. Most of the time they'd probably have to get it to Allen or Pierce on the inbound though and let them create for themselves or one another (or even get it down to KG in the post if there's time).

dont forget, if you put house in at the point that gives you another option for a game winning shot. probably not the go to guy option but if you have nothing going for the first or second choice he makes a damn good fall back shooter.

to answer the question, it depends. i would pick allen right now but really i could not answer the question til i watched the game and saw how everyone was playing and who was defending them.

What an impostor. I was at the Clippers/Sonics game at Staples Center yesterday. I wouldn't have missed if I was playing for the Celtics.

KG is doing better in Boston than he is in Minnesota. He's still getting 20+ points with Pierce and Allen on the same team.
He's averaging 22.5/16.5/5.5 right now and if he keeps this up, he is a shoo-in to be MVP.

Based on:
1. Who's hot out of the 3 of them
2. Who's defending them (ie. mismatches)
3. If they need a 2 or 3 (if trey, then definitely Ray Allen)
4. Maybe get the ball to Garnett or is very long & a good passer so he can either score or set someone else up

Either way, I'd say all will get chances to win the game this season & in the playoffs....Sauru's right though, you'd throw Eddie House on there too....

this does not really concern me, i fully believe the celtics can hold thier own vs the elite in the league. kg is just a monster who was forgotton in minnesota, now he is eager to play again and we are seeing what he can do.

what i am more interested in is seeing how they perform on a long road trip. not a young team by any stretch so...

Then you sign X's favourite Chinese player Wang Zhizhi and put him on the floor too.

Anyways, Boston looking promising after 4 games (?)... still a long way to go though!

I don't know about the MVP just yet (though I agree numbers like that and an impressive record would make him one of the top candidates) but I wouldn't be surprised to see all three represent the East at the All-Star game then find their way onto the All-NBA teams at the end of the season.

I think Ray Allen is the odd one out to miss the ASG and possibly the All-NBA team. He is still the same old Ray Allen and his stats have dropped a bit from last season, but that's expected since it's still early in the season and because he has a better supporting cast.
Paul Pierce and KG is a different story. We now see Pierce's true passing ability as he trusts his teammates more. I really don't see anyone else besides KG getting the MVP except LBJ. Nash will always be a top candidate, but I think the hype around him has settled down a bit and people are still critizing Nowitzki for choking in the Mavs-Warriors series.

provided they all stay healthy, I'd expect all three to be in All-Star team....

a bit too early to say, but it wouldn't surprise me if the East's All-Star team looked a little like this:

C- Howard
F- Garnett
F- James
G- Wade (even if injured)
G- Arenas (even if injured)

BENCH
C- Bosh
F- Lewis
F- Pierce
G- Allen
G- Kidd
F- Butler
G- Billups

Since I've done that, I'd expect West to be:

C- Yao
F- Nowitzki
F- McGrady
G- Bryant
G- Nash

C- Stoudemire
F- Duncan
F- Anthony
G- Iverson
G- Williams
F- Marion
G- Paul

Same old Ray Allen? You mean the same Ray Allen that is still one of the most, if not the most, underrated player in the NBA. He's easily as good as Paul Pierce. He is the guy you give the ball to when the game is on the line, and he's one of the best scorers out there. He's never averaged 30ppg because he's never had to, he's always had another good scorer along with him.

I said it when he first got traded, Boston fans will not complain about his age for long because they'll soon realize he's one of the best guards in the NBA, and he'll remain so for a long time. A guy with a jump shot like his is always going to be highly valuable.

I'm not arguing on Ray Allen's skill, I'm just saying that Ray Allen's playing style hasn't changed much from when he was on the Sonics.
I agree with you that Allen is one of the best guards and shooters in the NBA and the Celtics will not be disappointed.

I just read somewhere today, that he won't be on the ballots, so he won't be i the all star game.

awwww booo! It'd be funny just to see it happen. What's funnier is that they'll have players who are less productive than him on the ballot.

For as long as I can remember, you have been able to vote for people who aren't on the ballot over the Internet. If every Chinese basketball fan with an Internet connection writes him in, I guess he can still make the team. If he does, it'll be the end of fan voting though (which is about time anyway)
