Andrew, you do know Kobe didn't shoot it for completely selfish reasons? He shot it so that the crowd could get their free tacos (if Lakers score over 100 & hold opponent to less than 100). If I was in crowd I'd want him to shoot it too.

Kobe giving back to the fans and feeding hungry people. The G.O.A.T.

I am indeed aware of that, the crowd's enthusiasm was pretty evident from the "We want tacos!" chant they had going. Guess you've got to hand it to his generosity there.

Do they have to score over 100, or just win? I was under the impression it was the latter.
A shot had to be put up, and a three has less chance of resulting in a foul and stopping the clock, enabling the ball to just be dribbled around the perimeter and then thrown in the direction of the rim when the shot clock runs down, which is another reason to go that route.
What's with defense becoming illegal though?

The Celtics...

What's wrong with Garnett? He seems really "off" today.. including those two horrendous missed layups form point-blank range.

At most arenas it is score 100 points for the free food. At Staples it is score 100 and hold the other team under 100. See this thread for more info:

Bad knee.
Also afraid of The One. As all Lakers opponents are.

I fell asleep during the second half.

Seems the Lakers are tougher this time around compared to what they were in 08.
Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:17 am
Or the Celtics are softer. KG missing layups, Kobe getting wide open driving lanes...
Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:20 am

So much for my sleepiness.
Anyway, what the hell did the NBA just did in the Finals logo on the jerseys? It looks distracting at a closer distance.

Did you see Kobe's concentration?

Yeah. It was like as if Kobe was looking at dog shit diarrhea feces.
Seriously, I was lil surprised how he was looking all that serious. Perhaps, Chris Rock's jokes were offensive?

I'm not surprised. Kobe wants that fifth ring and pay Boston back for the ass-whippin' two years ago. Dude is on a mission.

No, Chris Rock just hasn't been funny in like eight years.
I was watching ESPN and I heard Gasol say, in one way or another, that he thought Garnett had lost a step. Just pointingout how he's a jump shooter and isn't as explosive.
They told Garnett and Rondo about these comments and you would have thought Gasol just called KG's mom ugly. I mean, c'mon. If KG is going to try to light some sort of competitive fire within himself after Gasol spoke the truth in regards to his game he's being ridiculous. Go out and show you can make layups. occasionally throw down a good jam, and grab more than four rebounds old man, don't sit and act like you're offended that Gasol pointed out your easily visible age and decline in explosive ability.

Are you claiming that this won't be a laugh riot?

Look at all that talent!
Sat Jun 05, 2010 8:59 am
That movie is going to be the 90's comedian version of Wild Hogs.
Tim Allen - Adam Sandler
Jon Travolta - Kevin James
Martin Lawrence - Chris Rock
William H Macy - David Spade
Travolta and Macy can probably be flip flopped on James and Spade... I'm not sure who's more unfunny between the Wild Hog duo-- I do think Kevin James is a smidgen funnier than post-Tommy Boy David Spade. This is all based on a shitty/stupid funny scale, not a "hahahahaha that makes me laugh" funny.

Funny how they're blowing the Chris Rock thing out of proportion. Sure, it was kind of a funny moment and clearly shows how focused and uninterested in joking around Kobe is, but lauding it as proof of his greatness seems to be taking it a step too far. Then again, it is Mark Jackson making the call.
Sat Jun 05, 2010 12:31 pm
It could be as simple as Kobe ignoring Chris Rock rather than being in a deep tantric state.
Sat Jun 05, 2010 12:44 pm
Here come the Kobe haters.
They just can't stand when Kobe shows his greatness.

Greatest winner ever, ignores everything that gets in the way of winning, including washed up comedians.
Sat Jun 05, 2010 12:51 pm
That's exactly right, benji, he's ignoring Chris Rock

Fuck yeah LA.
Pau Gasol. That's right. Pau motherfucking Gasol came to play! I loved his game last night, he played some hard nosed basketball. The Lakers team as a whole did. Ron Artest was awesome all night long too, I shook my head at the first play but I can't say I didn't love it. This is what the Finals should be. The refs should let them play a bit more though.
I'm loving what the Lakers are doing, the guards (especially Bryant, Farmar & Brown) are making it a point to drive the ball to the basket instead of settling for long range two's. Especially Bryant, he makes some of them and everyone is wow'ed by them, but it's one of the lowest percentage shots you can take. I was all too happy to see he was determined to get to the basket.
A great game for the bigmen too, Gasol passing it off to Bynum for the finish is something that has me jumping out of my seat every singe time I see it.
I don't want to get too ahead of myself because all they've done is won game one at home. But I must say, I love the way LA played. Their defense was awesome and they played like they wanted it a lot more. When LA plays like this I cant help but love them a whole lot more.
Let's go LAKERS!!

It could also be that Kobe was sitting there for a long time with that stare and Chris Rock upon seeing the cameras on them decided to do a joke by talking to a Kobe that doesn't care.
