IMO, that would be wise from Bulls to do. The problem is, they would be trading a SG and a big man which are exactly the things they need right now. So that would also be their goal - to get back an elite front- or backcourt talent. I would go with a big man, since they're harder to find than an athletic, defensive oriented swingmen. But who would be that stupid to trade such a thing for a lazy heart-attack-waiting-to-happen and an undersized SG, who'll never be much more than an elite 6th man (he'll probably make me eat my words in a couple of years )? I would try with the biggest dumbasses in this league. Would Babcock trade Jalen Rose (or someone who's contract expires this summer) and Chris Bosh for a package of Gordon and Curry? What if they'd throw a future first into the mix? Would Mullin give Biedrins, Diogu, Pietrus and a future first? Was there any chance that Dumb&Dumber duo of Orlando would trade Dwight Howard (I seriously doubt that anyone would be that retarded)?

You never know... the Bobcats may give them Meka! (Y)

Kwame Brown is a practically a bust....he looked better in his sophomore season than against Philly and he doesn't play D and he couldn't even score on Webber

God, Bulls could have Hinrich AND Iguodala. The question is - would you rather take Gordon or Deng with the 3rd pick in the 2004 draft? I would go with Deng.

i preferred deng and iguodala.

i was a bit surprised with the gordon selection but even more surprised when deng was still available at 9. i believe that pax knew deng would fall to 9 but not gordon. so he picked gordon @3 then made the trade for the dukie

turned out to be a great deal for chicago. i believe phoenix used the 2005 draft pick (which was used by chicago to obtain the rights of deng) on nate robinson

And with the Bulls, I would have taken Ben Gordon. However, I would start him or trade him. Now that we got to this.. what do you think Chi-town could have got from Gordon + Curry?

i agree with what vank says. those 2 positions are the team's weakest positions. but unlikely for paxson to deal for rose

i don't see what's the rush in issuing the "start or trade" him decree. he's get starters mintues (30mpg) and the bulls are off to their best start in some time

Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:31 am

After seeing Andre defend Kobe two days ago, could you imagine the things those two could do together?? People hate comparisons, but Kobe & AI² are the players that rescembles MJ & Pip the most.

Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:50 am

AI2 and Kobe actually worked out together when Iggy declared himself for the NBA draft. The Lakers were making a run for him.

- Yeh, but when they had to send Curry away, I think they could have gotten more out of the two of them packaged. Or at least, they could have excercised the option. However, Ben Gordon will porbably Sixth Man of the Year and the Bulls showed their loyalty to their players.

What if he begins looking more like a horse as he ages? Or constant migraines? Anything?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:54 am

It's funny to see Kwame and Bynum bust (although Bynum has a ton of room to improve) but guys like Smush and Cook play so well.

Such a weird team.

Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:59 am

I can understand Kwame, but Bynum? He was drafted as a project, not to contribute right away........Its not like its way to early to call him a bust now is it?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 5:23 pm

haha.. im not giving up on Kwame until 20 games have passed. Bynum isn't going to be judged until 2009. Smush IMO had a few lucky nights, hasn't backed himself up recently. One word about today's game: ouch.

NBA.com wrote:Grizzlies Smother Bryant, Lakers

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Nov. 14 (Ticker) -- Pau Gasol led a defensive effort which kept Kobe Bryant in check and sent the Los Angeles Lakers home on a sour note.

Gasol collected 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Memphis Grizzlies posted an 85-73 victory over the Lakers.

The Lakers shot a season-low 33 percent (25-of-77) and scored just 47 points through three quarters as they closed out a four-game road trip with three straight losses - scoring 81 points or less in each defeat.

Memphis' defensive effort allowed it to beat Los Angeles for the fourth straight time.

"They played us tough," Bryant said. "They did this to us last year. They're a good team, and I knew it was going to be a roller-coaster night just like it was."

A 14-4 run helped the Grizzlies open a 38-29 lead with 3:39 left in the half. Eddie Jones, who finished with 16 points, had four points and a steal during the spurt.

"Coach (Mike Fratello) really had us ready for the triangle, for the 1-on-1s and the post-ups," Jones said. "He had us in position at all times. We just really have to take our hats off to the coach because he had us ready."

Despite shooting just 38 percent (31-of-82), Memphis outscored Los Angeles, 31-14, in the third quarter to take control of the game. The Grizzlies had a 17-5 advantage in rebounds, 11 on the offensive end, leading to 15 second-chance points.

"We came out and played an aggressive, spirit-filled third quarter and it enabled us to open up a lead," said Memphis forward Shane Battier, who pulled down seven of his 11 rebounds on the offense glass.

"It was a goal of ours tonight to really come out and rebound," said Grizzlies center Lorenzen Wright, who had 12 boards. "We knew they had a good offensive rebounding team, so we wanted to everybody to come to the boards."

The Grizzlies finished the third period with an 18-4 burst to take a 73-47 into the final quarter.

After being limited to a season-low 17 points Friday in Philadelphia, Bryant scored just 18 on 7-of-18 shooting. He sat on the bench for the entire fourth quarter.

The Lakers never held a lead after the first three minutes of the second period, and the 73 points was their second-lowest total since the 1960-61 season.

"These guys are not functioning at a high level right now," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "That's something we have to get right."

Not all the news was good for the Grizzlies as key reserve Mike Miller had to be carried off the court after suffering a bruised right knee with 1:09 left in the fourth quarter. Miller's X-rays were negative and he will be re-evaluated Tuesday.

Bleh terrible game. Kobe is not even playing All-Star worthy the last 2 games, let alone MVP worthy. I can give Kwame some games untill I expect him to contribute, but dude is forcing tougher shots then Kobe and it looks like he has a seizure when he makes a move.

Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:35 am

kobe still has not made a 3pointer either

Wed Nov 16, 2005 7:28 am

Thats because he's playing more SF than SG and posts up more in the new system. And he hasn't taken many shots but maybe it's better than making nearly 2 out of 6 three pointers a game.

As Jax said, the game was ugly/pathetic and if LA want to win, they really got to play up a lot of gears.

Thats because KOBE finger is injured, when lakers play`d with atlanta then kobe dunked and injured hes finger r smt.But yeah, shooting % was still really shit in those last two games..
WTF KOBE plays SF/SG then? r wtf.
C:Mihm PF:Brown SF:Odom SG:Kobe PG:Smush r kobe just plays two positions?

Wed Nov 16, 2005 7:50 am

I dont believe in those excuses. And wasnt it his wrist instead of the finger?
If his injury effects his jumpshots so much, then why wont he just drive to the rim? Believe me, I watched Kobe play many years and he is on his best if he goes to the rim instead of shooting jumpshots.

Jae wrote:What if he begins looking more like a horse as he ages? Or constant migraines? Anything?

he should start making all star teams, all nba team, all defensive teams, etc. though the horse thing could help

i'm a fan of iguodala's game. i've even mentioned that i think he has the skillset to become a pippen-type of player. heck, i'd even traded hinrich for the guy

but c'mon... he does a good job guarding that one guy and all of a sudden he most resembles pippen?

Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:31 pm

god you are saying kobe is crap and he has had 5 good games and two bad ones!!!

Wed Nov 16, 2005 10:23 pm

no, he's not saying kobe's crap. he's saying kobe has had 2 crap games.

seriously, we should dig up some of the kobe love threads from 2 years ago when shaq got traded.... a lot of people thought he would put up massive numbers.... i heard 36 ppgs, 8apgs, etc. ,etc. i hate to say i told you so, but i told you so. same numbers, lower field goal percentage, crap ass team. i do think he has room for improvement though (statistically) as he hasnt reached his so called 'prime', then again some players level off earlier and i wouldnt discount that either.

he will not put up legendary numbers, he will never be the best shooting guard ever, he will never be the best player in the league, he will never win another championship, don't ever mention his name in the same paragraph as michael jordans - its blasphemy. quote me.

this is not hate, im not calling him a rapist, i didnt say he sucked. its just, well, truth hurts, boys. get ready for the chicago effect, los angeles.

if the modern/future day lakers ever amount to anything i think their fate really rests in lamar odom's hands.... he has all the tools to be a very special player. almost reminds me of rasheed wallace in that respect, or robert horry. except they can get away with it (now) cuz they're winners.

as for kwame, i think this is basically his last chance, the kid is 23, if he hasnt gotten it by now, he aint gonna, he's been in the league for awhile. and dont even mention jermaine here, jermaine o'neal showed real talent in portland and everyone saw it, its just he was unfortunatley behind rasheed and sabonis on a very deep portland team. kwame couldnt even start for shit washington, and the way things are going, phil would probably be better served to give cook the start, hell, even medvedenko.

if it werent for kobe this current laker team would be on par with toronto.... hmm, actually, i take that back, torontos pretty bad... say, maccabi? :D

Fox Sports wrote:Kobe scores 42 in Lakers' win over Knicks

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Phil Jackson still has it over Larry Brown.

Kobe Bryant scored a season-high 42 points and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New York Knicks 97-92 Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing skid.
Channing Frye led the Knicks with 21 points, the second time the rookie has done so in three nights. Eddy Curry added 17 points.

Stephon Marbury was held to a season-low four points - 12 below his average, and had 10 assists.

The latest meeting between two of the NBA's greatest coaches was hardly vintage. Both of their clubs are struggling to regain elite status, something that once was a given.

Jackson improved to 26-13 in head-to-head games against Brown, whose Philadelphia team lost to Jackson's Lakers in the 2001 NBA Finals. Brown's Detroit Pistons eliminated the Lakers in the 2004 Finals.

The Knicks made a pitch to Jackson for their coaching vacancy last summer before he decided on a second stint with Bryant and a cast of lesser knowns. Jackson played on the Knicks' 1973 NBA championship team.

So Brown took the New York job, and got off to an 0-5 start before the Knicks won at Sacramento and Utah.

That modest streak came to a halt against the Lakers, who are still finding their way with Bryant as the sole team leader.

He proved a one-man show yet again, the third time this season he's topped 37 points. He took a whopping 36 shots, hitting 15, and making 12-of-14 free throws.

The Knicks cut their deficit to 92-84 with 1:41 remaining on baskets by Frye and David Lee and a free throw by Nate Robinson, while the Lakers missed on two straight possessions.

Lamar Odom's three-point play was the Lakers' first score in about two minutes and kept them ahead 95-84.

Ahead by six to start the fourth, Bryant scored the Lakers' first eight points, extending their lead to 86-72.

The Lakers had no answer for Curry inside, especially after Chris Mihm picked up his fourth foul at the end of the third. Curry scored consecutive baskets to cut the Lakers' lead to 10 with 6:51 remaining.

The Knicks opened the second quarter with a 19-11 run to take a 45-38 lead, their first since the start of the game, bringing an applauding Spike Lee to his feet. Frye had 11 points.

But the Lakers kept Lee glued to his seat by outscoring New York 22-4 over the end of the second and start of the third to regain a 60-49 lead. Mihm and Bryant had six points each.

Curry and Jamal Crawford carried the Knicks in the third, scoring all but six of their points even while Curry picked up his fourth foul late in the period.

Bryant sat down with 49 seconds left as the Knicks pulled within six points heading into the final 12 minutes.

Notes
For the seventh time in eight games, the Knicks' bench outscored the opposition. This time, their reserves had a 53-11 edge. ... Lakers F Slava Medvedenko has a herniated disc that will keep him out about six weeks. ... The game brought out serious sports fans Chris Rock, Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington, who plopped a Lakers hat over Lee's Yankees cap, provoking cheers from the crowd and laughs from Lee.

- At least it was a win. Kobe scores 42... one thing I didn't like was that he took 36 shots... I'm just thinking, 'c'mon- where's his support?'

Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:08 pm

magius, you are really really putting kobe down. He might not be the best SG ever but he will definitely be one of the top SG ever in history and maybe when everything is said and done he might be considered by many as the second best SG ever behind MJ of course.
Just the way you talk about Kobe is repugnant but anyways at least he's a NBA superstar and millionarie (something most of guys will never become)

Miracles could happend and now they have Phil Jackson and they could work some magic next year or maybe eve at the end of this season.

Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:46 pm

The Lakers are going down.

Thu Nov 17, 2005 6:46 pm

LOL
This is a SHIT talk(KOBE IS CRAP PLAPLAPLA)
he IS the best SG ever, yea he has a LARGE ego but oh well he all STARS have that same problem.
But he is one of the best players who have ever play`d that game.
If LA can`t win then it`s Kobe`s fault yeah?bullshit.
Clippers are going down
