That's the part that makes it incredible. He's a PROVEN rebounder but he's somehow decided to completely give up despite being seven foot and within arms length of AT LEAST a good number of boards per game just by location.

I see he's attempting more shots despite playing slightly fewer minutes. Guess he figures it's all about points.

I guess it's safe to conclude that he's had it with Avery Johnson.

I blame Kris Humphries for Brook Lopez's rebounding woes. Obviously Brook knows he can relax with Kris around to clean it all up. Although strangely this stellar board work by Lopez was in a game Kris missed.

He got dependent on Humpries that he forgot how to rebound even with Kris not around.

It seems it's not only Dirk that is 7-foot that can't rebound

Let's not forget Lopez' 0 rebounds in 31 minutes against the Hawks.

Brook Lopez had no rebounds in 31 minutes of the Nets' 98-87 loss at Atlanta. No NBA starting center had failed to grab a rebound in a game while playing at least 30 minutes since the Jazz's Greg Ostertag did that (in 33 minutes) against the Timberwolves on Feb. 11, 2004.

I'm sure if Eddy Curry had the stamina to stand up for 30 minutes a night, he'd be having zero rebound games pretty much constantly.

Eddy Curry never averaged less than 6.5 rebounds per 36.

And he has a heart condition to the point no one will insure him.

And he's spent his entire career beyond overweight.

I mean, when you're comparing your TWENTY-TWO YEAR OLD center to Eddy Curry you've got issues.

Interestingly, Curry has never played 30+ minutes and got zero rebounds. Both Shaq and Sabonis HAVE gone thirty minutes and only got one rebound however.

And Brad Sellers is the MOTHERFUCKING KING of bad seven foot rebounders.

Dirk's actually not a bad rebounder. His defensive rebound percentage for his career is better than that of guys like Kareem, Alonzo Mourning, Pau, Amar'e etc.

It's just pretty tough to get offensive rebounds when you are the one shooting the ball from long range -> Dirk never had many offensive boards in his career.

Further his numbers pretty much went down since Tyson Chandler joined (Chandler is 5th in rebounding percentage).

Once again I end up reminding people that K-Love's outlandish rebounding stats come because there is no one else on the Timberwolves team to take those rebounds. On any other team with a halfway decent rebounder, Love wouldn't average anymore than 11rpg, which I have to admit is still impressive. Also a lot of his offensive rebounds come from shots he misses down low (he misses a lot - 47% on two-pointers for a big man is turrible). He doesn't grab rebounds off his missed threes very often.

Anyway, back to the Brook Bashing:

What I found is that Joakim Noah has more rebounds and has played slightly more than HALF the games Lopez has played this season. He also shares rebounds with Boozer [9.4rpg], Taj Gibson, and Luol Deng [5.8rpg]. Brook shares the boards with Kris Humphries, Anthony Morrow, and Deron Williams - the latter two aren't especially known for their rebounding.

Point is that Love's capable of producing such "outlandish rebounding" production.
Look at Chris Bosh in Toronto, they also suck but Bosh proved he was at least capable of producing such numbers (for a sucky team) and that's why the Heat got him and are now riding the coat tails of James and Wade.

Also a lot of his offensive rebounds come from shots he misses down low (he misses a lot - 47% on two-pointers for a big man is turrible).
lol, someone needs to learn some more how to interpret FG numbers.
He's good inside. Though he sucks outside 3 feet from the basket to 23 feet check out his eFG% for three pointers. That's daaamn for a big man. That's Dirk level right there.

He doesn't grab rebounds off his missed threes very often.
Of course not. He's not an athletic 6'10, 260 lb forward that can easily run out from 25 feet and easily position himself and grab the rebound. :facepalm2:

Besides, it's not as though he's pulling a Moses Malone and intentionally missing easy ones to pad his offensive rebounding stats.*

Bynum is turning out to be a beast since coming back from the injury. (Y)

This year it seems Kobe is taking it slow though. His minutes are down by 5 but stats are pretty much there the same considering the cut in minutes. Perhaps, he'll turn it on once the playoffs start.

Anyways, disappointing performance by Kobe tonight. Gordon Hayward, this young kid had no respect at all for future HOF.

My point being is when Tyson Chandler comes to Dallas he seems to stop caring about rebounding. He can actually rebound the ball if he works at it and not be a lazy bum like Chris Bosh is.

You won't see that happen too often. All great clutch players are prone to missing a game winning shot now and again, but the Jazz got lucky with Kobe fumbling the ball like that. His wry grin as he walked off looking at his hands said it all: sometimes, that's just the way it goes. That's one gobsmacked crowd at Staples Center.

That'll pretty much seal first seed for the Spurs.

Didn't miss anything in the Orlando-Milwaukee game, did I? Watched the first few minutes, score was 14-0 or something, turned it off. Checked back in later, it was a bit closer, but it was the third quarter and both teams were in the forties, so I didn't bother.

Anybody hear about the end of the Clippers/Grizzlies game? Two refs had conflicting calls on a charging/blocking foul and couldn't decide which way to go so they did a jump ball at center court with 6 seconds left in the game. It was clearly an offensive foul. Clippers got the tip, and were able to run out the clock(with Blake Griffin giving a nice shoulder to Battier who lunged to try and foul Mo Williams).

Big game tonight between the 76ers and Knicks. The 6th seed is at stake this game, and both teams want to prove that they are the better team. Knicks have won 4 in a row, and have looked good recently. Should be a great game.
