...doesn't the U.S. president have better things to do in managing his country rather than giving out interviews to Marv Albert?
Mon May 24, 2010 6:42 pm
No.
At least I'd prefer him to be giving interviews about his poll-tested opinions than destroying what little is left of our Constitutional Republic.

Racist.

well looks like LBJ has played his last game as a Cavalier.. I'm hoping that he'll end up with a championship caliber team..
Tue May 25, 2010 1:30 am
he already had one of those they just needed a better coach. maybe he can get out of his own way and win one some day

does anyone agree with what Jeff Van Gundy said during a game a few weeks back??? something to the tune of "a good coach is equal to having a good sixth or seventh man off the bench"
Should Mike Brown be fired because Garnett shut down Antawn Jamison, who looked like he was finally hitting his stride as a Cav after torching the Bulls in the previous series??? is it his fault that Mo Williams had another disappointing series?
i was at a Sox game when Obama, still a senator then, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. the guy is indeed is a true Sox fan. President or not, it's always refreshing to have someone throwing out the pitch that actually knows the game/is the a fan of team. across town in Wrigley it's become an embarrassment of who they bring in to sing the 7th inning stretch. first off they don't even know the words. second- they are just on there to plug a movie or new album

i think a good coach means a world of difference.

Sounds like a fair comparison to me. A good coach doesn't cost as much as most of 6th man too.

Wasn't Lebron a real coach of the Cavaliers?

with the bulls and their 6 championships i don't agree. it was Jordan in his prime and his supporting cast maturing that won the titles. it wasn't the triangle offense.. which was seldom run late in games

I believe you mean it was the organization that won the championships.

he should listen to Jay-Z/Alicia Keys song

its all about managing the game. the coach can see the game differently than the players. they need to sub the right players at the right time. doc rivers does a great job controlling the flow of the game and i think thats a big part of why the celtics are doing so good now, that and rondo

I agree with that and I'd throw managing egos and personalities in there as well. However, equating a good coach to a quality sixth or seventh man seems a bit of a stretch. Put Phil Jackson on the bench for the Timberwolves for example, I don't think they're winning 57 games as the Lakers did this season.

Hope everything like what you thought!haha

i agree andrew. a good coach is what he is, a good coach. he is not a 6th or 7th man cause like you said a great coach on a shit team still wont be winning any rings. at the same time i think a good coach can bring a pretty good team very far and make a great team a champion. this can go the other way too, sometimes a great team can make a average coach look really good. phil jackson for example has had jordan and kobe to work with, alot of people can win with those players. it was jacksons ability to get players like rodman to work within the team that impressed me

"sometimes a great team can make a average coach look really good"
Also, sometimes a great player can make a mediocre coach look really good, like LeBron and Mike Brown.

But a great 6th/7th man on a shit team won't win you any rings either. Also a good 6th/7th man can bring a pretty good team very far and make a great team a champion.

Overall, I am not saying his tune of "a good coach is equal to having a good sixth or seventh man off the bench" is totally right, but I can see where he's getting those ideas from.
Fri May 28, 2010 6:27 am
A great sixth/seventh man on a shit team is usually a starter.
Fri May 28, 2010 10:43 am
you guys aren't talking about a "great" coach. you're talking about a babysitter who knows when to call a timeout. even marv albert knows when to call a timeout
consider the amount of time spent in practice on court. in film sessions. scouting reports. the players know what's going on. it's not Rivers controlling the flow of the game. it's Rondo. or any other great floor general
what "great" coach is out there that didn't have hall of fame talent on his team??? is Rudy Tomjanovich held in the same regards as the greats? he won 2 titles with the Rockets. are coaches like Lenny Wilkens & Don Nelson considered great? if so, based on what? longevity?

So I heard Lebron, Wade, Joe Johnson are going to communicate with each other to determine what team they will go to.Is this a rumor?
Sat May 29, 2010 7:29 am
rumor i bet,the ball would be uncontrolled.
everyone of them would want to lead the team,so the two of them that would not get that roll would be mad,and ask for a trade.
Sat May 29, 2010 7:46 am
if lebron was smart he would team with bosh not wade. no one is gonna get them all but 2 of them to one team can very well happen just makes no sense to team lebron and wade imo
Sat May 29, 2010 8:47 am
Yeah I agree with Sauru. That's exactly the reason the Kings traded Kevin Martin to Houston, with Tyreke Evans and Kevin Martin on the same team, that just can't happen because both of them like to handle the ball. Same with Wade and LeBron.
Sat May 29, 2010 9:24 am
There is going to be a Lebron day..
seedamn they really are going all out
