Card for Live 2000, (Windows 2000)

Postby mortalsoul3 on Tue Mar 13, 2012 7:44 am

Greetings all,

Just a quick question re: hardware specs for NBA Live 2000 play . . .

I recently picked up a refurbished small form factor pc, specifically to play old/"vintage" video games: NBA Live 2000, in particular. Yet the graphics generated by this desktop are not particularly sharp. Wavy lines & obscured faces/bodies are the norm when running Live. Even the scoreboard is difficult to read. I'd send a screenshot as exemplification, but I take it that you gents & ladies get the point . . .

So I'm looking to upgrade the computer's graphics card. I have a superior card on an old, busted desktop that I was considering using to switch out its graphic component for the refurbished unit's; but just in case, I'm wondering what, in you all's experience, is the best available graphics card to use in playing old versions of EA Sports products such as NBA Live 2000? Note that I've installed Windows 2000 (Professional, I think) for playing these games. So, I'm looking for a graphics card with driver software compatible with that dated operating system.

As always, thanks!

All Best,
MT

Well, this is a hard question to answer, but when I recall the time playing NBA Live 2000 on Windows 2000, I think I had an S3 Virge card installed. Omg,this was a long time ago!! ... And I know that some nvidia cards made trouble.

Can't say more about it. I hope you'll find the card of your dreams.

If you could locate an old GeForce 4 series, that might be alright.

Excellent word, gentlemen. Thanks again, Andrew . . . I think I have a Gforce in this old desktop. I'll try switching out.

Continued good gaming.

All Best,

No worries. You should be able to still find Windows 2000 drivers for the old GeForce series. (Y)
