Talk about NBA 2K16 here.
Sun Sep 13, 2015 9:10 am
Earlier today the trailer for this was leaked by 2K. Did anyone here happen to catch it? Anyone save it or know of any sites where it has been re-uploaded?
Sun Sep 13, 2015 10:23 am
I saw it on Operation Sports but by the time I clicked on it... it was taken down.
Sun Sep 13, 2015 1:06 pm
If anyone finds it, please post.

Where's your thread Sam? Are you talking about the the link above because that's not what were talking about.
Mon Sep 14, 2015 12:05 am
I call you Sam since it kind of makes sense to shorten it... the same reason why people call me Peaceman and not what my nickname means which is "NOT" a peace man. You kind of got yourself into that when you chose your username

That's just some name for commercial...
Roonie 2K said on Twitter that you can have any name.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 4:56 am
A bit... dark.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:18 am
It's dark, but it's also a little cliche, too. As usual, the production values look great, but...well, it's the same thing that's turned me off MyCAREER since the transition to new gen. I like the idea of MyCAREER being heavily storyline driven in WWE 2K; not so much in NBA 2K.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 2:49 pm
I don't mind if there is a story. But I mind that there is only ONE story.
This is unrealistic. Not everyone's story the same.
I think some mentioned it last year with the transition from playing into the draft to last season being a FA and trying to make the team. Why not make them both an option. If you play well enough you make the draft, if not then you are a FA. I would assume these things are in the code already, why not just build on those story lines. Now they are scrapped for the Spike Lee story line, which I will play, but I usually play multiple my careers and have no desire to have to play the same story each time.
I suppose this is something to hope for in the next iteration.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 3:29 pm
It remains to be seen whether there'll be any branching options, any significant forks in the road.
Also, given some of the stuff that's been revealed about Year 2 onwards, it's a shame there's no option to skip the story entirely. The ability to skip the story completely, or take a few different paths through that story, would definitely make it more appealing to me. That said, I'll give it a go before I write it off.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 4:34 pm
What if I don't want to live a Spike Lee story? What if I want to live the dream instead of "da dream"? It's disappointing that 2k once again limits the MyPlayer to one story line. And it's a story I don't want to identify with. I suspect many other people don't want to identify with anything Spike Lee imagines.

Remember 2K13 - Rookie Showcase, Draft, NBA, no cutscenes... Hey we have opportunity to play in college, family, friends, agent.... But you are still mad. What do you want? What kind of story do you want? This will be the best sports game ever made. But people always find something bad...Are you serious?
Yes, we are serious. Not everyone has the same tastes, or preferences. That doesn't make us "funny".
Furthermore, we have actually explained what it is specifically we don't like, and what we'd prefer to see. If you're happy with what's going on with the story and this particular approach, then that's great. By all means, enjoy it. But it's not to everyone's taste, and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of us would prefer that there are a few different paths. Some of us don't like the characters, or the overall narrative. Some of us just don't like the heavily storyline driven approach. Other people do. And that's perfectly fine, because that aspect of MyCAREER is highly subjective.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 7:28 pm
Well, it would be nice if we could play through the story once and then skip it in another playthrough.
Season 2 looks great, it looks like prev-gen MyCareer on steroids (to quote last year).
I'M looking forward to what it brings us this year... New player voiceover perhaps?

iamSamke wrote:I don't see why are you so mad, this is the best storyline possible. What other story do you want?
How can you possibly say that without actually playing through the whole storyline? That's like declaring a movie the best film ever, based solely on the trailer. Perhaps it's horribly cliche and repetitive, with the gameplay feeling like it has little impact on the direction of the story. Hopefully, it won't. However, we won't know for sure either way until the game is out, and we've experienced it. And even if it's not terrible, "best storyline possible" is a big claim...especially before the game itself is released.
As I and other people have explained multiple times, we'd like to see a bit more choice in the story: different paths with storyline branching, different MyPLAYER characters. That way, not everyone's playing through the same story, with the exact same twists and turns. As Dommy said, it would also be nice to be able to skip the storyline, for those who aren't a fan of it, but like the general MyCAREER concept and the other, RPG-like elements. Some of us would like to create our own story, without having to play through one that's already been written. For some of us, it gives the mode a bit of a predetermined feel.
Finally, I'm not mad at all. It's not to my tastes, but rather than just blindly expressing hate, I'm explaining my position on the matter, and what I'd personally prefer.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:29 pm
What options do you think of? Except draft position, I guess.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:40 pm
Well, we did have three trailers (Beyond the Shadows, Believe, The Rise). I'd like to think there might be at least three possible story branches - which would be pretty smart as I don't think many people create more than three characters.
Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:46 pm
It's one example, but since the mode is storyline driven, there would be plenty of opportunities to have your MyPLAYER make certain decisions. If each of those decisions allowed the story to progress in a slightly different direction, allowing for different twists and turns, and different
combinations of twists and turns, then you have a story that is less linear, and a little bit different for everyone who plays.
It also means more replay value, if you want to start a new MyCAREER game. If you've played through MyCAREER and want to start over, you have to go through the story in Year 1 again, knowing what will happen. Having the story branch off in different directions according to your choices means that you can play it a slightly - or perhaps even drastically - way than you did before. With a single, mostly linear storyline, you've got to go through it all again to get to the more "open world" approach of Year 2 onwards. And again, some people might prefer the open world/sandbox approach over having anything to do with the story in the first place.
That's why I'd prefer to have options. When you look at the franchise modes, I think it was a great idea to have both MyLEAGUE and MyGM; the former being sandbox-oriented and customisable, a mode where you build the story and the experience yourself, and the latter guiding you by giving you objectives and less control over certain aspects.
Again, I'm not saying that the current approach to MyCAREER is objectively bad, though I do think it has some potential drawbacks. Of course, not everyone will mind that or see them as problems that hinder their enjoyment, so at the end of the day, all I can say is that it doesn't appeal to me personally. Which is fine, there's other stuff in the game that does, and I know that other people like it, which is great. That is the benefit of having a well-rounded product: there's something for everyone. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't state our preferences, or withhold criticism.

That's a possibility, I suppose. I have a feeling it's more a case of "These are the stories of our cover players...what will your story be?" and then presenting a story for you to play through. Some of the Achievements suggest that there could be some branching options, or at the very least a couple of alternate endings to the story in Year 1, so I guess we'll see.

I'm sorry for the ones who want to see different story lanes, because you won't see it at all, at least in a near future. But I agree the game should have an option of completly disabling the "story line" my career.
Why I said we we'll ever hardly different story lanes? Well, since 1 month ago, the only "your choices make the game different" games that were outhere were from Telta, and your desicions didn't really change the story that much. This changed with "Until Dawn", but that game was completly developed for that point, and there were still some flaws like really only 1 option made the direction of the game change. I can't imagine this in a game whose objective is playing basketball, as I said, at least in a near future.

Can we at least wait for release to be sure about best sport game ever made? I remember hype a year ago and what? Dont believe in everything you see and hear about any game, this is my good advice.

"How can you possibly say that without actually playing through the whole storyline?"
After 20+ years of Spike Lee's repetitive stories and characters, we know exactly what this story will be like. I don't need to let new Spike Lee crap into my brain in order to know what he's about.
