Recording games - Game Crashes - ACTION!

Postby Dee4Three on Thu Nov 12, 2015 2:14 am

Hi all,

This question may be better answered by Leftos, but I would love any feedback from the community. For 2k14, I recorded full games onto an external hard drive using Mirillis ACTION video recorder. It was awesome, I was able to record with no FPS drop, and no crashing.

Using the same program with NBA 2k16, no FPS drop.. for the 1 minute it works. It literally crashes to the desktop almost immediately after entering a game. I am playing it in full screen mode, and in ACTION im recording at 720p, 60 frames, MP4... What could be causing this? Is there a fix? Also, I am using the full version of this program that I paid $50 for, so its not the trial. Also, is there another one you would recommend other than FRAPS?

Thanks for your assistance.

Im not home.. But I believe its a AMD FM 6300 3.8GHZ processor, 8 core, with an R9 280x graphics card. The game runs perfect, never any stutter and everything is maxed out. So I LOVE that, just an issue with ACTION! working...

Im open to trying something different... but Action is pretty sweet.

No, I can give it a try. Will it allow me to record in full screen? (not windowed).

Thanks,

Yeah, should be fine, and shouldn't impact FPS too much, since it uses your AMD hardware for recording.

You are the man. So while it isnt good for recording full games, its perfect for recording highlights and cropping. Using this moving forward.

Thanks again,

There are many other recorders. Try OBS.

I did, OBS struggled as well (Frame rate issue on playback).

Any other suggestions? Kind of frustrating that it works perfect during the game while recording (no FPS drop), and its super easy to save highlights, but it stutters on playback. Ive tried everything, changing the quality down from 1080p to 720p (same stutter), Changing the frames from 60 to 30 for recording (Obviously more stutter and not stable) etc.

I'm trying to record with OBS. Other games record well, but 2K16 doesn't. On playback, there is stuttering, almost like a strobe effect. I tried changing the resolution and bit rate in OBS. Tomorrow I will try changing settings in 2K16 to see if I can get smooth play recording.
