My integrated intel graphics has a more decent FPS than my Nvidia Card, so it might really be a driver issue for Nvidia.. :(

Say something else Phreak, that supports your opinion, you got nothing so why you talkin ?
what Is said is common knowledge of the PC gaming industry.... case and point, just the latest example would be to look at the biggest few games recently released of which none have a legitimate updated driver neither from AMD nor Nvidia, let alone SLI and Crossfire profile

Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor
Ryse Son of Rome
Alien Isolation
Dead Rising 3

so no Nightfly, studios don't release "broken" games and let Nvidia AMD fix it... studios release playable games that could be better but most of the time they're a lazy console port so it's up to Nvidia AMD to fine tune their next driver to extract better performance for that specific game..... a lot of it has to do with the fact so many studios make lazy shitty ports from consoles to PC and call it a day....
I don't know if 2K did that or not, I definitely don't think so because if you guys want to see a really bad console port with horrible performance, look at Dead Rising 3, it's performance is horrible on the PC no matter how high end your machine is

sometimes if these game studios have good relationships with either Nvidia or AMD they will work hand in hand in releasing a solid driver from the get go, but most often it works the way I described in paragraph above

I just wanna say a few words that I think I have to say to you and every single member and modder in this forum (my heart and mind wanted me to say it:)), because I've heard you work on this game Leftos...... NBA 2K15 PC... is everything I have ever wanted from a basketball game and that is, to be the same as real basketball..... and for me you guys did it !! I am completely satisfied...happy....with this gameplay and visuals.... I mean you guys did it... you made it. I love the movement, the courts, the players, the coaches, the ball, the passes, the shoots, the dunks, the layups, the alley-ops, the collisions, the crossovers, the hesitation, the dribble animations.
I mean, I don't know how you guys did it, but I think every player in this game is real... I mean Lebron moves like Lebron.... Melo is Melo.... Harden is Harden.....and all other superstars move like they are real.... their movements, their shots, dribbles it's like THEY ARE COMPLETLY REAL MAN !!! FUCK !! I CANT BELIEVE IT SOMETIMES... even guys like Tyreke Evans, Victor Oladipo, Nerlens Noel, Lance Stephenson and others they come as real as the real nba ! :) I'm just so happy.... because I play NBA games... since NBA Live 2000..... and every year is like I don't like this, this,this..... and since 2k9 came for PC, basketball is upgraded every year.. and now NBA 2K15 comes out.... and for me THIS IS IT !!!! I THINK THIS IS THE BEST THAT IT CAN GET ! and just wanna congratulate you and your colleagues and everybody that loves NBA games and basketball, every single modder from here of course for every NBA 2K, they have modded through the years. I appreciate you guys a lot ...Leftos, jaosming, Andrew and every single modder from this forum that makes every NBA 2K game better !! Now let's celebrate NBA 2K15 !

You couldn't have said it any better. I am as amazed as you are by the game. Its just looks so good (Y) (Y) and am fine with other minor setbacks and the usual suspects (online still sucks :D). I like the game so much that I've finally decided to upgrade my 1080p monitor (16:10 aspect ratio) to 1440p monitor (16:9 aspect ratio), since I am quite sure that the aspect ratio issue (stretched out image for monitors with 5:4, 16:10 aspect ratios) is not a patch-able thing.

skoadam wrote:ive got question? users with high end graphic card like 780/970/980, can u please tell me how much ghz runs your cpu?

Tomorrow when I get back home I can check it. What actually are you willing to see? What is the max ghz the game squeezes out of the processor? I am quite sure it hits 100% at times, so its rather pointless. RAM amount/speed and timings also might be an interesting issue to look at. I have rare samsung ram sticks (they came cheap as fuck since the seller was not aware what he had :D, but they are as fast as some superoverpriced ramkits by corsair and so on) that are great overclockers running on low timings, so that also helps to squeeze the best out of it.

bro...... I like this game so much that i changed my video card from Nvidia GF 740 to Gigabyte GTX 980..... I haven't changed my video card since 2008. THIS is how much I like this game !

Noxxys said in steam forums a solution that worked for me:

"I fixed my stuttering issue by switching to "fullscreen windowed" mode. It was occurring in fullscreen mode with or without Vsync"

Hope it helps. Easy and fast (Y)

I had an issue where the game would stop for about 3-4 seconds every few minutes. I fixed it completely by going to the nVidia control panel and turning Antialiasing Transparency from 8X Supersample to Multisample. It might also be okay on 2X or 4X.

Human eye perceives (around) 25 fps as smooth. Problem with games is, that framerate tends to change. Thats why movies have 25 or 24.5 fps - the framerate is constant.
60fps is just a common refresh rate for displays, but if you own for example 75hz display, then 60fps mark is totally useless for you.
So framerate limiting is used to get rid oh huge fps changes - rather than having around 200fps normally with somewhat common drops to 100fps, you limit it to the 100 to create smooth stream.

Works for me!

AMD Phenom II X4 965 @3.8 GHz

GTX 760

8 GB RAM

Everything in-game on max. In nvidia control panel, I have "Let application decide".

60 FPS during gameplay.. nice!

no man, just 740.... it was pain in the ass with 2K15... BUT now..... with Gigabyte GTX 980 :) it's f*******g ridicilious :) I have just a little bit of micr-stuttering, so I decided to try overclocking and..... that thing just touch the sky :) NO MICRO-STUTTERING..... it's like you play on XBOX-1 or PS4..... however I heard that overclocking it's not good for the CPU and the GPU, so I will play it without overclocking mu GPU, because it's a lot better, than before..... I think I made finally a great future investment. I'm very happy now I feel the full enjoyment of this game :)

Interesting you guys talking about the micro stutters and audio. Early last year, I had been playing NBA 2k13 on my PC with no issues until I bought some Creative headphones (Tactic 3D alpha IIRC). When using the USB sound card that it comes with I'd get these kinds of issues; typically every 5 or 10 seconds a quick stutter. It happened only in this game. I tried everything to fix it but no go. Ended up getting different headphones.

Btw, after spending many hours testing different settings I've got the got running great. Specs below, though I don't remember all the settings.

Core i5 4670k (Haswell)
Older video card, AMD 5870 2 GB
8 GB RAM

I'll grab all my settings if anyone needs help. Lastly, I just received my new video card today (AMD R9 280).

I've seen some brilliant solutions in this thread, ESPECIALLY the task manager/affinity one! Its almost as though 2k devs have accounts here.... :cheeky:

God damn the word 'micro' doesn't even apply here.

Playing a full season game, 12 min qtrs. and pretty much with 4 minutes left in each qtr the game just chugs like a freaking stop motion animation.

My Specs should be laughing at this game:
i7 3770 4.1GHz
16GB system ram
Titan 6gb video ram

Game settings, max @1920x1080. Tried every Vsync option both in-game and in the Nvidia CP and tried every AA setting as well. No difference.

What a beast you have Phreak, but I could have guessed it judging by the 2k14 screenshots you posted in crazy high resolutions.

I'm running

i7 4770k 4.4 OC
780Ti
16GB at 1800+
With the game installed on Samsung 840 Evo SSD

The priority setting changed combined with running as admin does cut a chunk of the stop motion effect you talked about out. In no way is the game fixed because the stutter moments are still present though.

I wonder if the titan is getting hot and then throttling the clocks back causing the stutter. I read this has happened in other games with people who had a titan. Is there a way to set the power management in the nvidia control panel for each game? I ask because I don't have an nvidia card.

Not at all. The Titan just doesn't get hot. My case is water cooled, huge, open, ventilated, there's 3 free slots under the GPU... I could go on, but I am very experienced in PC's, temps etc.

2K is just badly made I'm sorry.

Ok here is my feedback.

Athlon 2 x4 3.6ghz OC
Hd 6750 1gb
6gb 1666mhz
500HDD

Settings: 1440x900, AA: 2-0, Textures:Med, Player: High, Crowds: Low, Shader: High, Vsync: 0ff. Config: Sumpersampling= 0

I was getting 40-45 fps in mycarrer and quick games and DID NOT experiencing MICRO-STUTTERING, but today i was overclocking my graphics card and i was getting in mycarrer and quick games 50-65. Then MICRO-STUTTERING occurred. Everytime fps would come to 60 stuttering occurred. and I KNOW and I CAN see the difference between FRAME DROPS and MICRO-STUTTERING. (sorry for bad english)

Lastly, I just received my new video card today (AMD R9 280).

it was wireless headphones?

No, why? When I unplugged the USB sound card that came with the phones and plugged the headphones directly into the back of the PC the stuttering went away.

Also getting stuttering..tried the suggestions given in here..it seems to help slightly but didn't resolve it for me. It's not so bad that it's unplayable but it would be nice if someone found a solution.

Yep..I did that..why "above normal" and not "high". I assumed it make more since to set it to "high", although I tried both and no difference on either. I even updated my video and sound driver and that didn't help. Video card is a gtx 750 2gb. Even though it stutters during game play, everything else is very smooth and very fast. Menu is smooth, the game loads up very quick, everything else is amazing fast. No lag or stuttering anywhere except for game play. It's not stuttering so bad that it's unplayable at this point but right now I'm just testing the game out. I think once I start a season, the stuttering will annoyed the hell out of me.

I get micro-stuttering too if I set everything to Medium+High. But if I select Crowd Detail to Low, Player Detail to Medium and Special Effects Off. With mostly everything else to Medium and High, game runs smoothly with no stuttering. MSAA to 4x with quality set to 3. Haven't tried with lower MSAA yet.

The problem is when I set Special Effects to On, then the slight stuttering appears. If I select Player Detail to High then the game freezes on 99% loading. Crowd Detail if it is Medium or High depending on the other settings will cause major freezes regardless of resolution settings. Selecting Priority to High doesn't have any impact on performance.

However, having said that the game on Crowd Detail to Low and Player Detail to Medium still beats NBA 2K14 PC maxed out. So I'm definitely pleased with that. :) Except that without Special Effects the court looks worse than 2K14. The wooden floor looks like crayon pastels.

Well these are my specs. They aren't bad, but neither are they great. I can max NBA 2K14 at 1920x1200 with 8x MSAA and get 60 frames per second. Yet NBA 2K15, although haven't tested FPS only runs smoothly if Player Detail is set to no higher than Medium and Crowd to Low with Special Effects Off. With On there's slight stuttering. I have lowered the MSAA to 4x. Maybe I need to test with 2x or less. And resolution is stuck to 1440x900 and can't increase it unless I set desktop resolution to something higher. Now I can run with those settings at 1920x1200 decently if desktop res is set to 1920x1200. I even overclocked the processor to 3 GHz a few weeks ago.

GPU temperatures are low, no higher than 60 degrees celcius. And GPU no higher than 68 degrees celcius. Lowering the resolution doesn't have much impact either. It's the player detail and crowd detail that seem to have the biggest impact on the stuttering. I tried Game Booster doesn't seem to improve much.

The fact that you can play NBA 2k14 maxed out, doesn't mean much anymore. The current gen engine 2k15 uses is much more demanding and with a rig like yours I wouldn't expect much in terms of being able to max anything out.

All on high. Texture quality on medium. Special effect on. AAx2, AA quality 2, 1920x108. If u still got frame drop, set AA quality to 0. U will still get frame drops in cutscenes. All of us got them there. All should run smooth without OC. CPU can be 3ghz. Enjoy.

Re: Request for feedback regarding micro-stuttering

Postby Phreak50 on Sat Oct 18, 2014 6:43 pm

The stutter seems to have very little to do with our system specs and what detail settings we are using.

I spent a couple hours testing today with interesting results.

My frame rate is being reported by fraps and afterburner of about 90 frames per second. This is on max settings (anti aliasing on about medium).

Now we know 60fps should be silky smooth but it's just the opposite. My minimum fps did not drop much at all and even with the high frame rate, the game is stuttering noticeably.

Forcing Vsync and basically locking the frame rate to 60fps doesn't make a difference at all. Still stuttering.

The same for lowering the settings. Even on minimum settings the game still stutters.

Out of curiousity, I increased the refresh rate to 120hz (my monitor is 120/144) and the screen tears like mad and the stutter is worse.

It really is looking like just a plain and simple, bad PC port.

Replied in the patch thread :)

Ok so did some offline tests. Still stutters when fully offline but what I have found is that some (not all) of the stutters occur in the same place if you go back into the replay.

Which to me, shows that there is a problem with the way the camera is tracking and following the ball.

Not sure if it will be visible in this capture, but it's full HD so let's see... the stutter happens when the camera starts to pan right to left, just before Parker catches the ball.

phpBB [video]

During live play there is stuttering from the inbounder to the receiver. Even in the replay (from the same camera) this is visible. Yet, when switching views, it goes away (as the camera tracks differently).

It doesn't explain the other stutters, like the small freezes during rebounds or turnovers (from what I could tell, they were different and not visible in replays) but if the camera is having trouble following the ball and giving the impression of stuttering, hopefully it's some place for the devs to start.

Well there was a slight improvement. If I set 1920x1080 res with mostly everything on high except for Texture. Then at least I can get past the loading screen. The game is playable but stutters. Lowering the AA quality didn't make a difference. At 1920x1200 with Aspect Ratio Correction Off it's impossible to get past loading screen after the initial team selection. It would freeze for a few seconds but then unfreeze, freeze and unfreeze... So it's impossible to play like this.

But with 1920x1080 the game at least runs and doesn't freeze. However, after 1 or 2 hours after I exited the game back to desktop and then when I launched the game again the game started freezing after loading screen. It's no ordinary stutter. However, going to Task Manager and setting NBA 2K15 Priority to Real Time eliminates most of the stuttering but only initially. But this then causes commentary, crowd sound to crackle. I still decided to play like that, but after 1 hour or so the game started freezing again!

Then I exited the game and then noticed that one of my svchost.exe jumped to 143k memory. That might explain why this freezing all started. Because when I restart the computer, play the game again. There's no freezing. After 1-2 hours of playing svchost jumps to 143k. This is directly caused due to NBA 2K15. It's not a virus as that doesn't occur with any other game.

Only if I play the game on mostly everything on Low-Medium the game is playable without freezing or stutters. But I would've expected better performance even for my rig. Considering that this game's minimum cpu requirement is a dual core...4 GB RAM should theoretically be more than enough if this passes the Recommended. But I feel this game requires a heftier PC than even the system requirements listed... I can't upgrade my graphics card, it will bottleneck under my Quad Core Q8400 CPU. So I was thinking to at least play on my current PC for 1-2 years and then make a complete PC build. Will have to wait for patch I guess, I feel that this game has room for better optimization..

BLaZiNgSPEED, Dude first of all stuttering exist even on Titan Black so just relax. Wait for patch. Second if u will use my sets u should get smooth 60fps. No other way. Im on i7 930, now without OC, on default clocks with 2,8ghz+auto boost so its 3ghz. With 470gtx SOC version and 6gb of ram. Dude u must be very close to me. I know Q8200 is not i7, but its not so important here. Maybe u've got some problems with "only 1gb" on your card since mine have 1.25GB. All you have to do is buy card with more GDDR5 memory. If u dont want to make "downgrade" to 4xx series, just buy 570 or 580gtx and u will be good. Your Q8200 shouldn''t limit 6xx series from nvidia. Look for second hand gpu, it will be veeery cheap. Also your Q8200 should go higher than @3ghz

Can someone help me with that trick? I don't get it, if I disable all cores I can't press OK
I have fx-6300(6 core cpu)

I went into task manager and set my priority for NBA 2k15 to "Above Normal". Also, I set the affinity by unchecking a core, clicking OK, and then resetting it to use all cores again. Used to be a trick to solve micro-stuttering in NBA 2k13 and 2k14 and it seems to work for me on NBA 2k15 as well. Can anyone else confirm this works for them as well?
