Re: Any news about NBA 2K15 for PC?

If the PC version is only on one DVD it probably means we are getting the same old PS3/360 port. Last year I was happy with my game until I went on YouTube and seen the PS4's MyCareer. It's basically a totally different game. There is no way all that new stuff will be able to fit on 1 DVD. I brought up the ability for the PC install to be compressed in an earlier comment, but there is just no way all that MyCareer and next-gen stuff could be compressed enough for it to fit on a single DVD. A Blu-ray yes, but not a DVD.

Re: Any news about NBA 2K15 for PC?

I bet that the 1 DVD will have a Steam installer, instructions on how to activate the game on Steam and some predownloaded files. 2K14 for PC is 7,2 GB, already pushing capacity, either version we get it'll likely not fit.

Dual layer DVDs can hold 9.5 gb. The only thing that will probably be downloaded is any day one content.

It's an educated guess Pdub. 7,2 leaves only 2,3 GB left, and with all the cutbacks on PC now present (assumption) that space will be rapidly taken over. My point is that even a fully featured last gen game will have a hard time fitting in. I haven't seen a PC game on disc with my own eyes for over 5 years or more, we just talk about it because there's nothing to talk about.

Edit: A dual layer DVD can hold up to 8 GB of data, 8,5 GB is the nominal value (market strategy), so just 0,8 GB available. I'm sure there won't be a disc version anymore, discs will activate on Steam and that's probably why we see the Steam logo on the marketing tools.

Yeah, I think it's going to be what jmmontoro said, IIRC That's what happened with Titanfall and Wolfenstein.

A Dual-Layer DVD holds 8.0GB at the most. I would guess maybe about 15GB to 20GB if it's extremely compressed. A more realistic estimate would be 12GB.

So this whole thing is false alarm, because BestBuy has listed both BF4 and MP3 with "Number of Discs: 1". They probably put that everywhere...
Like I said, I wouldn't pay attention to it :)

Good to know.

Yeah, I meant 8.5. But yeah, all this speculating is because we all want the current gen port. I'm just purely skeptical that we will get one this early in to the new console generation. It just makes sense to port a last genversion because more people will have an opportunity to play it.

I think it would make more since to spend the time and money to port it over now and then make updates to it in the following years. Rather than wait and spend the money to port it over at the end of the generation cycle where it wouldn't be used very long. In other words, spend the money now and profit from it for the next 3-5 years. In my opinion it's now or never from a business stand point.

We don't have a real cost to benefit and potential consequence analysis like they most likely do...

True, but but from a business stand point it just doesn't make any since for them to do it another year when they could do it this year. If they don't do it now, their PC sales will drop and they will have even less incentive to carry it on.

Maybe its all bout this?
2k14 for pc is great example, 2k15 could be even better one.

I don't know for you guys, but for me it's sure that I don't buy the game if it's the current gen version..
2k Sports needs to understand that many more people will buy the game if it's the next-game version :)

When i saw how many users bought 2k14 im almost sure 2k never understand nothing because sell looks the same every year
Its only their good will to release this on pc in any kind of gen.

Sadly, I would have to agree. Unless it's next-gen or it has substantial improvements from 2K14, there really isn't going to be much motivation to buy this year. I hope they are not charging full price just because it has VC and MyTeam. Like many have said before,I would pay more than $60 if I knew it was next-gen. I wouldn't mind any mildly intrusive DRM's either.

Re: Any news about NBA 2K15 for PC?

Wed Jul 23, 2014 8:42 am

Steam is a DRM if the game (developer) wants it to be.

I can play games bought on Steam like FTL without signing on to Steam, all I need is to find FTL's exe in the Steam folder and FTL will load up without needing or loading Steam.

Can't say the same for NBA 2K13 because even if I tried that direct method above of finding the game's exe it still requires you to log on to Steam even if you're using Steam's offline mode.

Basically blame that game's developers for making Steam as DRM instead of Steam itself.

I don't even know how many people play NBA2K on pc  But I think the the ones who crack the game will buy this one if it is a next-gen with VC version :D

It's sad that 2K ignore PC gamers like that, they kinda forget that without PC gamers there will be no 2K (Civilisation series, Borderlands 2 is nearly only played on PC right now, without forget that they created the franchise in 2005 and first real 2K's console games where in 2010)

He's got the point though.
If the PC version will be announced as current-gen, I'm preordering the game.
If it's last-gen I will wait for some steam deal or something like that.

What if it's last gen, but fully featured including everything the console versions have?

I would, but only if it has everything except graphics.

Played association old gen yesterday and some team got Melo for 2 million$ in free agency.
And god I would like to have a game-squad of 13 players, finally after how many years?!

They have to make up for so many things they messed up!

I feel your pain (assuming it wasn't an almost 40-year old Melo a few years into your Association), but if this is supposed to be an argument for why you want the X1/PS4 version on the PC, then it's really bad.

From all I've read, MyGM is pretty much Association with basic features locked behind VC paywalls, without any customization options, without controlling multiple teams and with players and/or staff members getting mad at you if you don't spend VC. ALL of the legacy issues are still very much there, some of them worse than ever - like player roles (don't remember if one of the patches finally fixed it or not). In other words, it's a complete fucking mess. Association on the X360/PS3/PC version is much, much better - despite having some problems of its own that have been in the game since 2K9 for the most part.

If the X1/PS4 version makes it to PC, then I really hope MyGM has seen a serious overhaul. The way it was in 2K14, it sounds like a mode that isn't even worth my time. And let it be known that I've been primarily an Association/Dynasty/Franchise player for as long as I've been playing basketball games.

Ma3a wrote:And god I would like to have a game-squad of 13 players, finally after how many years?!

That's very true. No idea how many more years we have to wait for 2K to notice that.
