First bball game with realistic scores with 12 min quarters?

I haven't spent much time playing modes other than MyCareer and MyPark, but it seems to me like they've somehow managed to make scores realistic in 2k. End scores used to be 150+ back in the day because most people played the game like a track meet, not utilizing the entire shot clock. Is this a function of the computer simming and leveling off the score when you're subbed out? (i noticed sometimes, I'm subbed out for 5 minutes and in those 5 minutes, neither team scored much at all.)

Yes, i played about 70 games in MyCareer this season on 12 minutes quarter and my team until now avarage 102ppg, on nba 2k13 was 120ppg...
